  1. We definitely want a family, but for us right now it's completely in that future category. We've been together for over 5 years and are both a bit older - I'm 31 and he's 33 - but neither of us personally feels ready for a baby yet so we're planning on waiting a few years. We want to enjoy married life together, be selfish, travel, etc. Our friends are popping out babies like crazy right now though so we'll see if/how that affects us! Right now we ooh and aww over the cute babies, but we're also really happy to hand them back and be sleeping full nights
  2. @@TheBHolders - no there are a couple others. Ask your WC but I know for right now at least grupo gama and Latin Asia. Not sure for 2015 or 2016 @@rrstripes - we were going with Zuniga but I'm pricing out Latin Asia and well probably just go for whoever is cheaper
  3. @@rrstripes - we've sent in ours too but haven't heard back yet. We made a few substitutes - you're allowed to as long as it's like for like. We're having 3 events: Welcome dinner on palenque terrace. We chose Mexican apps and Caribbean buffet w a couple substations from the Mexican buffet Rehearsal dinner/white party on infinity terrace. Don't love the infinity terrace but didn't want to pay the set up fee for the beach and wanted to have it at a different location. We chose BBQ buffet Wedding at sky terrace. We chose cold hors d'oeuvres w some subs and Italian buffet but subbed the lasagna for the steak from the French. Who are you going w for your decor? I've gotten quotes from Latin Asia and Zuniga
  4. @@rrstripes - We were told the same for the terraces, so we nixed our welcome brunch idea and decided to go w/ a dinner instead. Of course, this means we need to rent lighting instead of umbrellas, but we figured it'd still be more comfortable And ditto on hearing the buffet choices others have made!
  5. @@calgarybride2015 - Thanks Kim!! Can't believe its coming so fast. We're on our way to the airport now - Disney week! I'll have a good update next week of all the stuff I shipped there
  6. Samuel Luna is totally reasonably priced! We almost went with him too - he was our 2nd choice. He's also lovely to email and he replies really quickly. I'd personally switch from the resort photographer in a heartbeat, esp if you haven't put a deposit down He also does really great TTD shoots!
  7. You can probably arrange for your photographer to come pick you up at the hotel too so you can avoid vendor fees. Ours picked us up in the lobby and we went to Isla Mujeres for ours. The island is beautiful
  8. I love Danzo Kaduro! It always makes me think of Cancun and I put it on our pre-mailer CD . That would be a great song to exit to... Hrmm. I keep changing my mind! Our aisle isn't all that long and our wedding party is small, so I'm also wondering if I should just walk in to the same song as the bridal party? This is what I have for now but it's changed several times - Bridal Party entrance - Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World (Israel Kamakawiwo'ole) - Me - Same song above? Or Can't Help Falling in Love with You (Elvis) Or switched with above - Exit song - Top of the the World (imagine Dragons) but now also considering Danzo Kuduro - Bridal Party entrance/intros - Levels (Aviciii) - Bride/Groom entrance - Feel So Close (Calvin Harris) - First Dance - All of Me (John Legend - I've purposefully stopped listening to it to keep it special haha) And we're having a slide show so I was able to sneak in some more song choices here . We're doing 3 short songs - Either Best Day of My Life (American Authors) or What I Wouldn't Do (Serena Ryder) for the growing up/family part - It's Time (Imagine Dragons) for the friend part - I'm Yours (Jason Mraz) for the me and Tony part
  9. Oh your cake topper looks great! Glad you went with that one . I wish mine had sparkles too. Mine is a lot smaller than I expected too haha. I should have read the listing more carefully
  10. @@calgarybride2015 - Yes, it's when the bride and groom sit back to back each with 1 of the other person's shoe. The MC asks different questions, and the bride and groom hold up the shoe that answers the question (or sometimes both!). I've seen it get risque and fun with audience involvement (people asking questions) and I've always enjoyed watching it
  11. We're keeping some stuff traditional because I want it to still resemble a wedding reception We're going to have an MC, do intros, speeches, cake cutting and a first dance. I'm actually looking forward to speeches because our best man is hilarious and I know he'll kill it. And I think we'll try to do 1-2 games. I always ilke the shoe game, so maybe something like that during dinner while people are eating We're taking out the garter/bouquet toss because I always hate that part, and we're not doing the mother/father dance because we want to get right into the party
  12. Do a search here on "DIY throwies". A lot of the brides buy the cheaper non lit lanterns and then make these to light them. Is have done it if we had a palapa to hang them from but ours is open so we need someone to string from from end to end
  13. Kim! I was finally able to read the rest of your thread! I'm kicking myself for not checking Walmart earlier for a lot of the OOT stuff! I never thought they'd carry the individual packets. I checked Target but no luck. I also love that treasure chest thing you got and am going to have to do a Walmart trip soon to see what I can find. We have 2 of the same songs . Our exit is also On Top Of The World by Imagine Dragons and our first dance is also All of Me by John Legend! Good taste ! Also considering the Piano Guys 1000 years but still considering! I think I said it before but I really love the gifts for your kids, esp that bracelet. Chloe is my future daughter's name too I'm so bad but I'm totally going to sell you on the chinese lanterns w/ that palapa roof! This is the image that I fell in LOVE with and I searched hard for a palapa to get the same effect. Clearly I was unsuccessful (our reception is completely open!) but I still love this image. And if your resort will hang them for you, you can get them online for way cheaper than your resort's price. We don't have the option and I'm not even going to tell you how much we're paying for 4 strings of 10 lanterns haha but I had to have them
  14. Yay you started your thread! Can't wait to keep reading and seeing all the fun stuff I LOVE the palapa at your hotel!! I wanted to have my reception somewhere like that but had difficulty finding something affordable. Are you going to hang the Chinese lanterns? Can definitely empathize on the difficulty with the TA/finding an affordable resort, etc. I seriously lost sleep during that time and it was a big sigh of relief once that was finished. I love your twisted band! I looked at some twisted bands on etsy as a possibility of adding to my eventual ring stack
  15. Looks great! Love the straws - can you post a link to the templates? I might do that if I have time... it's all starting to come up very quickly tough AH The bags turned out great! I think the raffia definitely does add to the beachy vibe. I still need to do the tags for mine Hmmm - if it was just the wrong style, I'd prob just cover up the knife/server, but it honestly depends on how much it bugs you. If it does, then sure $5 won't break the bank to change it. The melted plastic is irritating though - you're paying money and they shouldn't send you something broken!
  16. Gorgeous dresses!! I love buying dresses too but I'm trying to rein myself in ahaha I LOVE your cheongsam!! That train and back - . Mine was too short and I wish it had more of a fishtail train - wishing i had gone the custom route now!
  17. Thanks for the thoughts and opinions, ladies! I think I'm going to go with #2 in blush (the Jenny Yoo Annabelle one)... I still do love 1, Kim, but I'm a bit worried to go the replica route, especially since I left it to last minute and the wedding is now 2 months away! Whoops Great news too. We've had a flurry of last minute bookings (very last minute but not complaining!). We have maybe 6 extra people that are booking now! I'm happy because some are very dear family that were able to rearrange things to come, but it's also throwing a wrench into all of my plans haha... Trying to rearrange tables and figure out if I have enough of everything now. No complaints though . Our numbers are now going to be 37/38 adults, 3 teenagers, 2 toddlers and 3 babies! And I'm almost sorry for introducing some of you to BHLDN haha.... they have really lovely stuff. It's prounounced "beholden" apparently as a fyi (no vowels) - I was always saying all initials in my head til I got to the store and was like ohhh. They have really lovely decor stuff and jewellry especially! http://www.bhldn.com/
  18. @@calgarybride2015 - BHLDN is a store . It's Anthropologie's wedding store... I'm going to say don't even look because they have the cutest wedding stuff and you will be tempted by everything haha. I finally visited a real (tiny) one in NYC 2 weeks ago and the dresses are beautiful! I think I'm agreeing with you on dress 2... it's also convertible so has these sheer panels that can be worn a bunch of different ways. Going to mull it over 1 more night then place the order tomorrow because I want to ship it to Orlando for next week!
  19. Hello ladies! I need some advice, please It looks like we are going to have an AHR for our families and parents' friends the same day we have our Catholic church wedding. It'll be the week before or after our Mexico wedding (so December/January). We're looking at about 70 people for a nice dinner at a restaurant. I would like to get a dress to wear to it that I can also wear for my TTD session! Which dress should I get? 1) Replica of the Truvelle Julia dress I do really love this dress and I'd even wear it as a reception dress, but I'm afraid of it being too revealing/blingy in church, even with a cover up. Also, I'd be getting a replica made not the actual dress, so it might not look exactly like this. And a part of me would rather just buy the dress ready to wear instead of ordering one to be made 2) Jenny Yoo Annabelle dress in Blush or Ivory I actually tried this dress on at BHLDN and really liked it. I look really awkward in this picture, but it fit well and I like how it's different from my regular dress. I'd wear it with a blingy belt and the dress topper below. Ivory or Blush? Which would photograph better for my TTD? 3) David's Bridal Galina Swiss Dot Dress I tried this dress on and I actually really loved it, but I wanted something with more oomph for my wedding dress. It'd be great for this purpose though and would look pretty. This one costs about $100 more than the above though, so not quite sure if I want to pay that much. This is the dress topper from BHLDN that I'm thinking of getting to wear with the dress in church, and I could wear it with my actual wedding dress too Any advice would be great
  20. Your planning thread is great!! I debated for a while having the wedding off resort, but Cancun doesn't have the same beach clubs as PDC and we wanted to stay in Cancun. I can't wait to see how it all comes along. I LOVE the beer seating chart. We're doing a shot glass one I think
  21. @@trbutler - Our wedding is a bit after yours - December 19 - and we sent them out already about 2 weeks ago. Ours included an information passport, get pumped cd and luggage tags. I wanted people to know details before coming, and i'm not sure if everyone reads the website or not. We've had a really good response to them You can see pics/read details in this thread: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/77763-tygrrlilys-planning-thread-beach-palace-resort-121914/?p=1871798
  22. I don't weigh myself (I used to get unhealthily obsessed with the number) but I'd like to lose about 10-15 lbs and 1-2 dress sizes. I gained weight recently because of an ankle injury that prevented me from working out, and I kind of just ate anything I wanted for a couple of months. Complete regret now because of course I gained weight and the whole wedding motivation didn't kick in til about a month ago. I'd like to get back to my usual size of 4-6 (I'm about a 6-8 now) We got a trainer that we started seeing about 2.5 weeks ago. He's my FI's friend and he's really good. Going to see him 1x a week and have him design workouts for me, then work out myself 3-4 more times a week. I wish I had started earlier (!) but so far I'm pretty motivated with only 2 months left to go (haha!) I agree with @@calgarybride2015 about old fashioned calories in and out. I love to eat, and I need to watch my portions and also stop snacking. My FI wants to lean down too before Mexico (though he doesn't need to - he has a visible 6 pack ) so we're going to try to eat really cleanly and drink less together. Minus a cheat week we have coming up in 2 weeks (Disney World!) I generally find it hard to balance everything in my life, and working out is usually sacrificed if I'm busy. But I'm trying to put it back into my schedule so it's not an option, and my FI said he's going to step in and help more with things like cooking so I have time to go and work out Good luck to all of the ladies here!
