  1. We spent about $2.60 each for ours + shipping. We sent out around 100 so didn't want to spend a ton. I made passport pre-mailers w/ CDs and luggage tags to people that booked - those cost quite a bit more but we were okay to spend money on people actually coming @@calgarybride2015 - Haha I made more tags for things in the OOT bag because I wanted to get more use out of my punches!!
  2. I sent out get pumped cds as well! We got a really good response This was my playlist! My taste skews a bit more to clubby as you can see but I tried to put on a few beachy ones too. I also wanted to change some of my dancing on the bar songs after 2 listens - should have thought it out a bit more
  3. Pretty Kristy! @@puravida2015 - I actually ordered the Badgley Mishka Landmark ones on the left! Thought they'd be my wedding shoes but I had to return them because they were SO uncomfortable, and I can rock heels pretty well. Just a warning to try them on if you go for them. They were very pretty though and blingy - I had the same idea as you because my dress is fairly simple I ended up buying these Kate Spade ones after. Decided to go for a mid heel to stay comfy
  4. @@acw271011 - Haha shorts kind of horrify me as well Funny side note. You can see my FI in my profile pic rocking baby blue shorts for our engagement pics - those were "formal" to him
  5. @@kmk2016 - You are going to have a huge, amazing wedding! Your numbers are awesome
  6. Thanks but I think I'm going to have to pass - cutting it too close. Great price though - hopefully another lady here scoops them up
  7. Definitely take your weather into consideration and also the overall vibe of your wedding. We were in Mexico in June and it was HOT during the days but it did get a bit cooler in the evenings. I think my FI was okay in pants when we were there, but he would have melted in a long sleeve button up shirt, I think Our wedding is in December so temperatures will be nice. I don't want our wedding to be overtly casual so I wrote "beach formal" for attire and specified no shorts, bathing suits or golf shirts on our pre-mailer. For men, I'm envisioning khakis/dress pants with collared dress shirts. They can do ties and suits if they want to - My mom has told all of the men in my family that a tie is expected haha. I expect the women will be in dresses? It goes down to around 21/22 in the evenings so we have pashminas for the ladies
  8. @@calgarybride2015 - I am eek ! Almost finished my list (almost!) and doing a lot of the nitpicky extras that nobody will probably notice but me haha. Did my escort cards, table cards and spray painted some frames for them, pashmina tags, sunglass tags, guestbook and instagram signs, framed wedding pictures of parents... have a few last things to do then pack, then leave! I have exams all next week until Weds, so I won't be able to relax until then! I've also been coordinating with our photographer, videographer and DJ so hopefully all is well there. We also paid off our purchase order to our resort which I'll write a better update about later - It was the most frustrating thing ever. The bulk of our wedding is now paid for though and we just have to pay those individual vendors when we get there! Also super frustrating dealing with Fed Ex and our concierge at our condo right now. He's turned away the fed ex package containing my bouquets twice now for some reason and if they don't get delivered tomorrow, I have to drive all the way out to Mississauga (like 30-45 minutes away) to get them. So completely frustrated But other then that it's definitely hitting me that we'll be in Mexico soon
  9. We ordered our invitations from Minted which does envelopes for free! We thought that was great and they looked nice I recently did our table escort cards and used my home printer fine! You have to do 1 as a sample but after that, they should turn out fine (and save you a ton of money!)
  10. I tried on your dress when I went dress shopping I'm tempted by the barefoot sandals but don't think they'd get to me in time. I'm in Toronto and we leave on the 14th.
  11. Yay Kim!! Glad it fits I use the lacies from Victoria Secret and I swear by them. No panty lines, don't cut you in at the waist at all because they stretch, and they look sexy too! https://www.victoriassecret.com//panties/the-lacie/thong-panty-the-lacie?ProductID=215653&CatalogueType=OLS&search=true
  12. Yay Kim, everything is looking great! I really like the blume boxes and that sticker on it is great and haha I totally get you on wanting to use the circle punch again. I now have a circle punch, tag punch, corner rounders, paper cutter, xacto knife, bone folder, etc. and I am not usually crafty person at all .
  13. Can any of the past Palace brides tell me roughly the diameter/length of the included cake in inches? Just trying to get a rough idea! Thanks @@ABfutureSulli - I'll send it to you now!
  14. We ordered our wedding bands from the jeweller last night! Talk about leaving it to last minute ha. I ended up not going for the matching band but getting a Tacori style half eternity pave band w/ milgrain for myself and my FI chose a brushed inlay white gold band. I can't wait to get them! We're getting them the day before our legal church ceremony which is 3 days before we leave @@Wafflesmom - Thank you!! I hope it turns out too . I'm a little nervous because it's someone else executing my "vision" haha and I'm super type A with this type of stuff, but I'm sure it will be fine. I have to keep reminding myself we're getting married in Mexico! Things will be beautiful anyway @@nadiakat17 - I went to a shop in Toronto that specializes in them, but it looks like that rate here is fairly standard for the quality. I'm not sure where you live but prices tend to be higher in Toronto. I paid $150 for the initial set, and then refills are $45-$75 depending on how often you do it and how many you need (2-4 weeks). There are cheaper places but from what I've read, you get what you pay for. I went here because it got great reviews and because my best friend has gotten them done and her eyes looked phenomenal in a really natural way, and I wanted the same It took the girl about an hour and 15 minutes. She said they'll last for 3-4 weeks depending on your lash cycle and makeup/face wash routine. I'm going to get mine refilled right before I leave so they look decent for the wedding Yes they last in the pool! That's one of the main reasons I got them. I want to look good the wedding week but not have to worry about wearing makeup that will smudge around my eyes anyway. I'm normally very self conscious leaving the house w/o eyeliner - I'm lazy w/ mascara except on weekends (I think because my lashes are so short anyway) but I never leave w/o eye liner, and I've actually gone out the last 2 days w/o any eye make up and I still feel GOOD about myself if that makes sense. My eyes still look done up and have a nice wide open look compared to my usual no makeup look. I'm going to start wearing eye make up again tomorrow, and I think my eyes will look awesome They actually feel pretty good. Not at all like the eyelash strips that they glue to your eyelids - I've had those done other times I've had my makeup done and I find them really irritating. Right now I feel like I have a bit more weight on my eyelids but other than that, I don't notice them at all. Haha I keep seeing them in my line of vision though which is very weird for me because I don't usually have that problem! It was definitely a splurge and I don't think it's something I'd be able to afford to do all of the time, but I decided it was worth it for the wedding. I'll update in a week or so about how they look!
  15. I got eyelash extensions last night ladies!! I've never done them before and I can't stop looking in the mirror haha. I have really wimpy Asian eyelashes so I'm really loving the length. Decided to splurge on them so I don't have to bother w/ mascara or fake lashes for the week and I still look nice in my TTD pics w/o makeup . I did them early to make sure I don't get eye irritations and get used to them, and I'm refilling them the day before we leave. I think i'm going to go a bit fuller next time though @@Mrsktobe - Thank you!! I am but I'm also in that panicky oh crap leaving in 2 week mode haha. I'm sure you know how it is BTW, I still want to hear about how your wedding went so post some pics and a review when you get the chance!
  16. Here's another for the Canadian ladies If anyone is doing playing cards in the OOT bags, Costco has $3 off their 9 packs of playing cards ($11.99-$3) making it $1 each for Bicycle cards. Valid at all Canadian locations because it's a Black Friday sale. I bought these 2 weeks ago so I'm going to do a price adjustment
  17. @@nadiakat17 - That's coming up soon! It definitely is. I didn't really start doing stuff until the 4 month mark - wish I had started a bit earlier. We leave in 2.5 weeks and I still have some projects to finish but hoping to get a lot of them done this weekend and start packing!! BTW, wedding chicks just sent out another email. Not as good as their preblack friday offer but better than regular price that's for sure . One tip is to order the bags in the packs of 20 instead - makes it cheaper per unit cost
  18. @@calgarybride2015 - It's to finish putting together my program fans! I tested a couple and a combo of glue gun on the handles and double sided tape seems to work best I ordered the camera on Amazon.com so I think I got it for a bit cheaper actually @@nadiakat17 - When is your wedding?
  19. Woo! Went to Michael's 2 days in a row and got a bunch of stuff for 50 and 40% off! The cashier was nice the first day rang 2 of my items at 50% I must have spent an hour in there today walking around to see if I missed anything. Saved almost $40 with the 40% off! Very happy
  20. @@LMichelleB - I got them from Amol's! Would definitely recommend @@nadiakat17 - I would ask NJBride2014 (Sandy) for it since she's the one that designed it and sent it to me. I don't think she'd mind me sending it but I want to respect her design just in case @@calgarybride2015 - It was a complete piss off haha. I wanted to use the mistake copy anyway but my FI said his brother had to be on it . I am very cheap about certain things haha. I happened to have the thank you stickers so I put them on more to just not waste them! I'm not sure I'd have gone out of my way to buy them otherwise but I do like the way they look Tomorrow Michael's has 40% off all regular items from noon to 10pm so I'm going to pick up some gold votives, coloured sand, led tealights and double sided tape. I'm hoping this will be my last Michael's run!
  21. Hello ladies Less than 3 weeks out - eek! Here's a bit of an update on my end I'll take a pic of all my OOT items with a breakdown this week, but for now here are our hangover kits! I decided to keep them pretty simple and put in things I thought would be useful, but also wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg. I really wanted to do things like travel aloe and immodium, but I cheaped out. We're going to bring a few big aloes in case anyone does get burned, and I figure people will have immodium themselves. I gave 1 bag to each couple or single: advil roll, 2-3 emergen-C packets, kleenex packet, 1 blistex chapstick, nail file, 4 tums chewables, 1 shout wipe and go packet, bobby pins, safety pins, hair tyers and condoms for the singles. The topper came from this site and I edited it slightly to fit my aesthetic (I think I like things a bit plainer). I also added some vomit lines to the "too much fun" haha I also finished a few other printables. I ended up buying another of those $27 for $70 groupons so I placed another Vistaprint order and decided to make a Meet the Guests sheet with a small pic, relationship to my FI and I and where they're from. They turned out really well! I used the flyer option on Vistaprint and printed it double-side I also decided to save myself some trouble for our program fans printing and cutting and print 2 postcards on Vistaprint that I could just glue together w/ a jumbo craft stick. I ended up using neither of the drafts I posted before because my mom kept complaining how busy and unelegant they looked. So I ended up making a new pretty simple one, but I'm fairly pleased with how it turned out. I used a free custom monogram from Weddingchickshop then just some nice simple script. I printed them on medium postcards using the regular glossy stock so there's a nice sheen and weight to it! I decided to go w/ this really simple one because it doesn't need a ribbon so saving us some money! Of course, I ended up making a mistake on my first order and forgot to add my FI's brother, so I had to reorder 1 of the postcards again pretty much nullifying any of the groupon savings! Ugh - Kim I get how you feel now! I also finished punching out the stamps for our maraca favours! I have exactly enough so I'm hoping nothing happens to them along the way. I had ordered 3 extra pairs but we had a bunch of extra people book at the end... I'm not regretting not having ordered at least 5 extra. Much thanks to Sandy (NJbride) who sent me the template for the "Shake for a kiss" tag! I got a craft puncher from Michaels at one of their 50% off sales and used some twine I got from the $1 bin at Target. I also put a Thank You sticker on the back of each label that I got from the Paper Place in Toronto. I'm going to put one at each place setting Judy from Bloom Bridal also sent me the pics of my real touch bouquet! I didn't love the first version she sent me (it was a bit too tropical for me and had too many flower types) so I asked her to make a couple of changes and she just sent me these new pics tonight. The bridesmaid one is on the left and mine on the right. I'm still eyeballing mine and if there's enough variation in colour (?), but I think I'm being picky here. I have to say though I'm pretty pleased w/ the pictures so far and can't wait to receive them. She was really nice about making the changes too! So far, I'd totally recommend her - I'll post a review once I receive them. That's it in terms of tangible projects so far. I'm helping my MOH/cousin make our slideshow and it's been a lot of fun making it. At first I really didn't want to be involved with it because it seemed weird to me to be making our own slideshow, but I'm not sure if it would have gotten finished otherwise, and it's actually been a lot of fun to put together. I haven't showed it to my FI yet though so it'll be a nice surprise for him! I ended up asking my eldest sister to stand in as a bridesmaid for the day. I decided I do want 2 attendants, and it's nice to have my sister involved. I specifically told her that all she really had to do was be there the day of, stand at the front during the ceremony, wear the dress and take some pics... I love my sister but she's super unreliable and can be really difficult which is why I didn't ask her to begin with. My other sister is acting as our MC - she has a baby so I wanted her to be involved, but not have the pressure of being a bridesmaid. We got all of our dresses fitted and I'm picking them up this week! @calgarybride2015- my ceremony isn't in the sand; we're having it on a rooftop terrace so I didn't have to worry about sinking in. My problem was just basic walking haha... I kept walking on the hem so that's the problem we were trying to fix! She didn't want to cut the lace overlay of my dress because it might mess the shape up, so we ended up pinning the front slightly and continuing the ruching. I really wish I was a bit taller so we didn't have to do that I have a few last things to do and buy but most of the big stuff is done. Phew! I'm very excited to be getting married in less than 3 weeks but I kind of wish I had given myself some more time! The last 9 months really flew by.
  22. @@acw271011 - Thank you!! That is so nice of you to say. I love planning parties and vacations, so a destination wedding I think was right up my alley. I really do hope it all turns out though ahhh - starting to get those wedding nightmares I've been so busy these last few weeks balancing school and wedding planning I've barely even had time to come on to the forum so I'm out of the loop . I will post a better update tomorrow with pics, but wanted to say a quick thank you and hello! I had my probably last dress fitting tonight and I'm picking it up this week. My big issue was hemming it short enough so I could walk without tripping flat on my face (haha seriously) but keeping it as long as possible to still maintain the shape/look. I'm still going to be praying as I walk down the aisle that I don't fall flat on my face!
  23. Ours came out to about $1680 from Toronto for 1 week at Beach Palace in Cancun, airport transfers and direct flight with Air Canada. Our week is right before Christmas so rates weren't crazy high season prices yet, but they weren't low either. Unfortunately I couldn't really be flexible about the dates because I'm in school again this year and I had to arrange it for a week I have off, or wait until I'm done in May (which I wasn't willing to wait for before haha. Now I'm like oh shoot, it all came so fast ahhh!) We also had some complaints about it being so close to Christmas and some people complained about the price, but as all of the ladies said above, the people that are going to come regardless will come through for you! We may have had a few more people had we waited until May or if we had chosen a cheaper resort, but ultimately we had to put our desires first because it is our wedding! I'm not too familiar with Cuba but I think it'd be a bit cheaper than Mexico. Good luck w/ your planning! Definitely find a good TA
  24. @@marinah84 - Can't believe it's almost here! Thank you for asking Things are good but I've been so busy lately trying to get everything done! I'll have an update post this weekend once I upload some pics - had my bridal shower and I got most of my final projects done: oot bags, maraca tags, meet the guests sheets, program fans We got our marriage license today and our legal Catholic ceremony w/ family is going to be on Friday December 12- 3 weeks away eek! Everything is becoming very real
  25. We sent info packages too at the beginning of September. We wanted to say thank you for booking and also get people excited for the trip We sent information passports about our events and the hotel, etc., a get pumped CD, and a luggage tag each. I made everything using a lot of ideas from this forum We got a really good response to the little packages and it seemed to get everyone really excited! Not everyone also reads our website, so we wanted people to have the information in advance
