Show us your wedding dress!
tygrrlily replied to Jennifer's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
@@kcole123 - I changed into my other dress once the dancing started. Way too hot to wear (and we were inside w/ AC haha) -
There are a bunch of sites that manage honeymoon registries or registries from multiple stores (my registry) instead of just the traditional ones. Also some of the honeymoon sites will actually send you a check, but the people gifting don't know that. In our circles, money is a fairly standard wedding gift and while we told the people coming to our wedding not to get us gifts, about 90% of them still did - cash/check in a card. Unexpected but really nice b/c we were able to pay off a lot of our wedding Also, I think many people will want to get you a present and in a way it's more gracious to just let them. For us, I knew a lot of people that weren't coming to our wedding too would want to give us something, and I did have a shower. So we registered to the Bay and also did a honeymoon registry at Disney. We've been living together already so we didn't need anything either. We registered for upgraded items or just nice luxe items we normally wouldn't buy. We just had this on the registry section of our website In the end, we actually returned a lot of our gifts from the Bay and all of the amounts spent got put on a gift card that we've been spending on other things that we need but would be weird to register for. I got new winter boots for example

@@nadiakat17 - Haha it's not a wedding without some drinking! I don't think I could have stopped myself from drinking to be honest. It's just making sure you stay on the good side b/t buzzed and messy I did make sure to not let myself get drunk until all the official "wedding" things were over - so we did the cake cutting, speeches, first dance, etc. before I really let myself drink. Haha my DH and I - once our party music came on, we just let loose. He immediately took off his bow tie, suspenders and unbuttoned his shirt and there was round after round of shots

How Many Days Before Are You Arriving?
tygrrlily replied to MissFrench's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
@@calgarybride2015 - I was like 6 hours (!) but then I remembered you're in Calgary I didn't notice anything at all the day of the wedding. Happy drunked wedded bliss . I agree the day of you don't notice any of the vases or frames but I think they do add to the overall atmosphere and when you see how nicely they look in your pics, you'll be glad you spent the time on them . Hindsight I wish I had touched up my makeup a bit before the reception and just little decor things that literally no one but me notices -

Yeah the wedding coordinator meeting doesn't take long because you'll prob. have it mostly planned out by that point. We arrived Sunday and had the wedding on Friday - Pros were that everyone knew each other really well and our whole week kind of led up to the wedding. Con is that I spent more time stressing about it and had less time to relax after -
They are very oblivious! Mine had maybe 5% involvement in all of our planning haha. But you know what he said after it was all said and done? That I did a great job and that he was glad for all the "extras" that he had previously complained about, because they really made a difference! OOT bags for example - he thought I was wasting a lot of money when I was getting stuff for them, but he saw how much everyone appreciated and used everything and he was glad we did them! For planning things, I just stopped asking him at a certain point and told him instead - but I wasn't really extravagant on anything and stayed within our budget. If there was something I *had* to have (haha gold Tiffany chairs and chargers), I made it work and just pushed things around G'luck ladies! I gave up on trying to force Tony into helping me plan things pretty early on b/c personally I knew it'd just lead to arguments. Easier to plan myself - made both of us happier that way

If it's TTD vs. videography, honestly the TTD was fun but it was also a lot of WORK. My husband was hungover the whole shoot and really cranky - he was very tempted to just call it quits after a while but I told him it'd be a waste of money! We were so exhausted at the end of that day. It was really tiring to keep doing the same under water shots again and again - and cold! Just a FYI The videographer just kind of follows you around all day of your wedding so you're not really doing much extra

@@Meandhim - I was worried my dress was a bit plain as well. I do love it, but I also loved more elaborate ones. Ultimately chose mine because it was simple and beautiful and felt "appropriate" for a DW. I know you can choose whatever dress you want for a DW but the huge poufy gowns seem a bit out of place to me. I think if I were having a big Toronto wedding I'd have chosen a different dress though - something w/ a bit more oomph. I *almost* bought Martina Liana's 444 below but the fabric seemed all wrong for Mexico though I still have a bit of dress regret/envy. I also love the Monique L'huillier Bliss I tried on at Kleinfield's but way over budget - ahh. Def. too much say yes to the dress And as the other ladies have stated, when you are all done up with hair, makeup, flowers and jewellry, it makes a world of difference . @@kcole123 - Men have NO idea the costs of weddings. Does he have friends that got married? That helped me because my husband would hear about how much things cost our Toronto friends. So really, what we were paying was cheap in comparison . I think some people just think about it in terms of how they perceive it's value. My husband isn't into pics or videos either - he's only looked at our pics maybe once and not all of them. I've prob. looked at our pics at least 20 times already . I'm sure the same will be said about our video

@@kcole123 - We do, but we haven't received it yet. Haha I didn't give Tony a choice. Told him the photography packaged included a TTD . My parents actually really wanted the video so they paid for the videography! Not sure if we would have gotten it otherwise but I am happy now that we did because the day goes by so fast and I would love to relive everything. Personally I'd prob. rather go videographer but it depends on what you think you would rather have

@@kcole123 - Thanks Kristy! I can't remember the name of the eco park but it was a really cool one near Tulum that had 3-4 cenotes in it. Very quiet - almost empty. Our photographer told us not a lot of people know of that one so it's not overrun by tourists and it was super private when we did our shoot It was included in the cost of our photography package. We paid Lancelotti $2800 for 8-10 hours of coverage on our wedding day and the TTD cenote package. We were gone for about 6-7 hours or so and our photographer picked us up. It was about an hour and a half each way, then 3-4 hours of shooting. 40 minutes isn't bad at all. It was almost like a day trip for us and prob. would have been more enjoyable if we weren't hungover when we did it

@@kcole123 - I think they're great but they do require upkeep. I didn't bother getting them refilled when I got back and now it's been almost 6 weeks and they're just about all gone. I do feel like my natural lashes are a bit sparser but not too much damage over all - though I'd only done it twice (not months/years like some other ladies). I'm glad I got them for the wedding week b/c they looked great, but I don't think I'd get them on a regular basis - I'm too cheap If you get them, make sure you go to someone that gets good reviews. Styling Trio actually complimented me on mine because they look really natural and were well applied. Adrian said he's seen a lot of bad extensions but mine were one of the best he's seen. I paid a lot though and went to someone that gets really good reviews
