  1. @@kmk2016 - I like this idea too! Just trying to think logistically about things like pictures hmm I found this cool picture of this couple that looks like they did their ceremony on the rooftop, but then had all the guests walk down for the sand ceremony. Trying to figure out the logistics of it all now
  2. @@Bella Rios - Have an amazing time!! Can't wait to hear about your wedding! Enjoy the sunshine I just booked our site visit for the end of June! Can't wait to see the place in person
  3. This sounds like such a lovely idea. I would really like to get our guests involved. I'm planning my ceremony on a rooftop though so we will be faraway from the beach/water! I've googled some alternatives like having people place the shells in a vase before doing the sand ceremony on top of it? Has anyone ever seen anything like this? It would be a nice momento to have
  4. Lovely rings, ladies!! Here's mine! I love it . Excuse my hands - in desperate need of a manicure!
  5. Hello, I'm getting married at Beach Palace! Biggest recommendation is definitely to get a travel agent. I find the resort does respond quicker when it is through the travel agent. However, I've also been in contact with Alejandro Ulibarri who is the Canada Sales Rep, and he replies very quickly. This is his email: aulibarri @ palace resorts . com (no spaces). Maybe you can email him and he will forward it to the UK sales rep. Good luck with the planning!
  6. This is my timeline for now - still toying with it. My ceremony is early at 2pm, but it's in December so I'm okay with that (sunset at 5:10pm). It also gives us a ton of time for pics which is important to us. We're also planning on paying to extend our reception for 3 more hours than what is included . We hired our photographer for 8-10 hours, and our videographer will be there for 8 hours probably 9:00 AM– 12:45 PM | Hair and Makeup. Bridesmaids should be dressed by 12:45pm 1 PM – 1:45 PM | Both sides getting Ready / Putting on Bride’s dress shots 2:00 PM – 2:30 PM | Ceremony 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM | Pictures w/ family, guests, wedding party, bride and groom pics, food and break somewhere in there
5:00 PM – 6:00 PM | Cocktails 6:00 PM – 11:00 PM | Dinner, Dancing + Reception Fun We put a break in between the ceremony and reception. We figured we're all staying at the resort, so people can go take a nap, change, eat, do whatever they want in between. We don't want our reception to finish too early
  7. We haven't talked about it, but this is what I plan too. We already live together so I can't imagine not sleeping without him there. Our ceremony is earlier at 2pm, so after we wake up, I'll get him to leave so my girls and I can get ready and he'll still get the surprise of seeing me all dolled up
  8. @@shmanderz - Have an amazing wedding week!! I cannot wait to hear how your wedding went. Please come back to post a review
  9. Fantastic thread! I LOVE your aesthetic, and I can't wait to see how your wedding turned out! You've given me so many ideas
  10. Your story of you and your fiance is so sweet! You sound perfect for each other and very much in love. And I think I said it before, but I really LOVE your engagement pics together. Esp the one you used as your profile pic I love these planning threads. Going to make one too once I become less lazy Have you considered a hint of mint or turquoise? I've seen some pretty weddings using that. I personally wanted to stay in the same colour family, but I think done well the contrast can look pretty. I love how pinks look against the vibrant blue of the water and sky, so I'm going with shades of pink, coral, gold and a bit of orange thrown in
  11. @@forevertogether I'm excited to use them as well. I decided to splurge and get the trial too for peace of mind. i want to look the best i possibly can, and I'm scheduling the trial the day of our welcome party so I can get some use out the makeup then too! Hopefully your resort will waive the outside vendors, or maybe just allow you to pay day passes?
  12. @@forevertogether - Ya i liked the reviews of Discomovil and I like that song choosing thingy on their website! One of our biggest priorities is a FUN party so we decided to go with them because we saw they have a lot of the music we want Haha now I want to know who else you're doing for vendors. Our weddings are pretty close in date! Are you getting flowers/decor through your resort?
  13. We ended up at Beach Palace, and we're going to get over 75 room nights so we won't have to pay extra to have the reception. But Palace has vendor fees of $800! Completely ridiculous, I agree with you! The vendor fees is one of the reasons I was seriously going off resort for a while. We are going with Lancelotti for photography, and I'm looking between Gallardo and Indigo Weddings for cinematography. Mike Cantarall is out of our price range unfortunately. We want our vendors for 8-10 hours For photographer and videographer, I'm going to have them come in under the same company name and see if I can just pay the vendor fee once for them. Twice is really ridiculous. All the parties have agreed to this - hopefully I can get the hotel to agree We also are going with DJ Discomovil - even WITH the vendor fee, they are still cheaper than the resort djs and offer more with better reviews. Have you booked your DJ yet? We looked at Doremixx, Discomovil and Mannia
  14. Hello ladies - I'm marrying December 19 at the Beach Palace Resort! We just signed our contract and our guests are beginning to book. I have my dress already and bridesmaid dresses. Looking to lock in our make up artist, photographer and videographer this week!
  15. @@pddcmc - The Casablanca 1975 is gorgeous - love the dip in the back! I'm dying to see the other one - custom made, couture sounds amazing already I was really respectful of the no camera thing (even though I hate that rule), but toward the end I have to admit we snuck some pics. It's SO hard to decide otherwise, and I needed to see how the dresses photographed. Yes it's the dress! I bought a sample dress so it's already in my closet! I'm now veil, shoe and accessory shopping
  16. @@1BeachBride - Ohh I love this idea!! I might steal it if we can find more money in the budget
  17. Does anyone know if the sky terrace for the reception has an extra set up fee? Or is this included as a standard location? I just want to confirm. Thanks! @@NJBride2014 - Hello - I recognize your pic from the FB thread!
  18. @@pddcmc - Yay, glad you had a good experience at the 2 boutiques! That's too bad that DB wasn't the same. I think the sales people really do make the experience. Do you have the names of the dresses you can post? I love looking at dresses . That's so nice that your sister is going to fly down there to see it with you! I posted mine in one of the other threads. I don't have any pics of me in it, but here it is on the model. I ended up with a sample Monique Lhuilier gown! It's already hanging in my closet haha. Let me try and attach the pic
  19. We put down a deposit for 10 rooms too. Our TA said usually we wouldn't have to as there's normally a 90 day hold on the price as long as the wedding couple puts down their deposits, but because the hotel we're at has limited availability, they weren't willing to do it without a deposit. We have some family and friends ready to book asap though, so we figured we'd get the money back right away. Now if only our TA would answer the emails! Ahh
  20. @@mrscollins - Wow I just read your review and I was growing furious on your behalf!! That's ridiculous how terrible Emy was. I do hope Moon Palace compensated you. And i do hope that you look fondly back on your wedding day more than at all the mishaps My wedding is at Beach Palace, not Moon Palace, but they have the same vendors so I am very grateful for all the tips!! I am outsourcing my makeup for sure. Your experience sounds awful, and I don't want to risk that For Gallardo, can I ask you if Moon Palace said you could just pay the day passes for them vs. the $800 vendor fee? This is the one big thing that is making me hesitate. Did you tell them in advance, or did you just arrange the day passes yourself? We have been in contact with Gallardo, and he seems really nice so far and has been working with our budget! We have been in contact with DJ Doremixx and PSAV. Will definitely not go with JSAV after that review. DJ Doremixx has such great prices and reviews, but once we tack on the vendor fee it makes it the same/slightly more than PSAV. Still debating this one For florals, did Marvin deliver to the lobby? Did you get charged at all for this? We want to get our florals for centrepieces done outside, but I'm worried that he will need to set them up Thank you!
  21. I don't think it's inappropriate at all. A destination wedding is still a wedding, and I think people that are close with you would want to celebrate. My best friend/MoH has already been asking me about what I want to do. I struggled to answer this too because I do feel guilty about having people spend so much money. But if it were reversed, I know I'd be very happy to attend a friend or family's member shower and bach, destination or not! So I'm going to just take a back seat and let my friends plan whatever they want. We also decided to register because we figured that some of the people that aren't coming would want to get us a gift. We're doing our registry this Saturday at the Bay - I actually can't wait because it looks like a lot of fun to go around zapping everything . We're also expecting to get money because it's common with our culture/social circle
  22. Haha my FI is so useless with helping too. He acts like it's a big pain if I ask him to even choose between 2 things. All he has contributed with is crunching some numbers. I'm making him help me assemble our invitations tonight though, or it'll take me forever! As long as he hands over his credit card when he needs to, I'm okay with that @@pddcmc - Yes, please update on the dress shopping!!! I already have my dress but I still have an appointment at Kleinfields at the Bay next month because they're opening one in Toronto! I have to go for the experience - but I know this can be potentially really dangerous too
  23. @@acw271011 - I did but I'm always happy to see more! I'm pretty bad at the DIY stuff lily luu 83 @ gmail . com (no spaces) Thank you!
  24. If you can make your appointments for the week instead of weekend, you'll probably have much better service. The sales girls told me that weekends can be a zoo (esp at David's). I made most of mine for Friday early afternoon, and I was usually the only one in the store getting undivided attention - it was great. Even at David's, I had my own sales girl and she was really awesome. Honest and helpful
