@@shelikespink - I think most of the dresses at Kleinfield were more than 1k. Definitely dangerous to go if it's out of budget, but I have to admit the experience was really fun and different compared to the other bridal salons in Toronto. Have you started looking yet? I also went to: Felicha, Beckers, Sash and Bustle, Camille Bridal Store, Dina Alonzi, David's Bridal and Ritche. Minus Dina Alonzi, I think all the others had some dresses in that price range! And many around the $1500 mark. Also, see if they have trunk shows or sales - sometimes when I went, they were offering an extra 10% off or had samples for sale!

@@shmanderz - What a great review! Your wedding week sounds like it was perfect. I can't wait to see your professional pictures! Ah - all of these great reviews is making me very excited! A couple of questions if you don't mind: Can I get the contact of your friend in Isla Mujeres? Seems like he'd be great to have for the welcome party You had to end at 10pm. I've seen varying things about ending at 10 or 11pm. Did you have an option at all with this? We are willing to pay the extra to extend our reception, and we're hoping we can go til 11

@@kmk2016 - Ohh that's gorgeous and very sexy! Love the slit and the back. Have you tried it on yet? Next time you're in Toronto, I know White and Kleinfield carry ML Bliss if you still need to Haha okay so that's where we differ. I have a meager not quite a B cup here and I'm adding cups to my dress to give me some shape . Hopefully Jasmine's can put some type of internal structure in yours!

@@kmk2016 - I'm still figuring it out! I'm thinking about getting 2 dresses now haha. We're thinking of doing an AHR so I think that sequin one would make the perfect reception and AHR reception dress. So i'm thinking of also getting the Reem Acra one as a church ceremony here and TTD dress... . OR I also like this Marchesa one Selena Gomez (haha) wore a couple years back http://www.redcarpet-fashionawards.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/creative-arts-emmys-selena-gomez.jpg OOh did you decide on your designs? The Vera Wang Gemma? I LOVE love love that dress! Which ML Bliss? I tried on one a few weeks ago and it was gorgeous

My bouquet is $148 and the bridesmaid ones are $65
-
I ordered from Bloom Bridal! She's located in Toronto and will ship anywhere. They're not cheap, but it is cheaper than buying them there. And they're gorgeous and won't wilt, and I'll have a keepsake afterwards I got my bouquet, bridesmaid bouquets, boutonnieres for groom and groomsman, and corsages and boutonnieres for the parents. And some hair flowers for myself The Bubba tumblers are on sale at Canadian tire this week! i have an alert set and I got an email about it the other day. I'm not buying them because they're still too expensive for how many guests we'll have, but if you only need 6-8 you might want to look into them? I think the quality of the bubbas are one of the best

The Hardest Part Of A Destination Wedding
tygrrlily replied to SamanthaC's topic in Just venting or funnies
@@SamanthaC - Haha that's exactly what went through my head, as bad as that sounds! We had actually talked about this before, and we've been joking about it the last 2 months since I got engaged. SHE was the one actually saying she better not get pregnant b/c she didn't want to right now because she has a 1 year old. So when she told me she was pregnant, I actually thought she was joking at first because she had made SUCH a big deal about it. And yes, I don't get how people just don't use birth control if they don't want to get pregnant?? Seems like a no brainer - that's what we do. So yes, I'm very happy for her but kind of selfishly upset too. I'm trying really hard to get over it because I love her and ultimately am happy, but just so disappointed with the timing of it all I hope you feel better. It's funny because they say planning a destination wedding is easy, but I've found it super stressful so far! We've JUST decided to have an AHR after our wedding because we're both kind of crushed that so many people aren't coming. We're the last of his friends to get married, and it's almost as if they've all moved on from weddings, you know. So we're going to have a big party when we get back which with open bar and food stations/hors d'oeuvres and a dj. So kind of weddingish, but without all of the ceremonial stuff. This is has made me feel A LOT better. We're also not going to tell people about it yet until closer to the wedding because we still want people to come to our wedding, and we're afraid they'll say "oh we'll just go to that instead". Like you, it isn't about the money at all for a lot of these people. The ppl that can't come because of cost, I totally get. Is an AHR an option as well for you? -
The Hardest Part Of A Destination Wedding
tygrrlily replied to SamanthaC's topic in Just venting or funnies
@@SamanthaC - Your post resonated a lot with me! I"m sorry to hear about all the people that aren't coming along. You definitely sound positive still about it, and I think your paragraph at the end is very truthful. We're going through with this right now too . Even my best friend/maid of honour who strongly PUSHED for us to have a destination wedding just got pregnant, and is now probably not coming. I was prepared for a lot of other people not to come, but not her. I've been upset all week and I'm trying to get over it, but I know it's going to take time. We're lucky that our family is all coming (and some from as far as Australia!), but we're finding with our friends that so few are planning on coming along. We even asked people before booking anything because we wanted to get a gauge and we wanted people at our wedding. So many people told us yes yes. Now of course, we're getting excuse after excuse . It's the point where we're almost regretting booking a destination wedding. I know it's about my FI and I and I am trying to stay focussed on that, but we always imagined ourselves being surrounded by our loved ones. If we had known that people wouldn't actually book, we probably would have just did it at home. As it is now, we've already put down 5k in deposits for things and it's too late to turn back without losing all of that. I'm trying to focus on the people that ARE coming and I know it will be a beautiful wedding. But yes, we're definitely disappointed. Some of the excuses are so bad as you said too. What angers me the most are my FI's friends. A lot of them are saying no to the wedding, but YES to the bachelor party in Vegas! I told my FI I'd be very upset if his friends prioritized the bachelor party ahead of the wedding, and if they're only going to one, it should be the wedding! He gave me a they want a "boys weekend" excuse, but it sounds very lame to me. I just don't get that mentality at all -
How To Wear My Hair In Mexico?
tygrrlily replied to BusyBee280's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
@@BusyBee280 - I'm going to wear my hair down, kind of curled and clipped to the side. I can't wear my hair up - I never wear it up, so can't imagine having it up on my wedding day! I'm hoping lots of hair spray and clips will do the trick . My bridesmaids are wearing their hair up - great advice above! My wedding is in December so it'll also be less humid. Yours is in November, so we have that going for us, I think! -
@@kmk2016 - Yes, I've asked if they have a separate email I can send them pics through. Will see how they respond We already have our photographer booked and he of course prefers that we do it another day as he reserves Saturdays for weddings (I don't blame him). We're in Cancun next month and he's going to take engagement pics of us. I'll ask him then if he has no other weddings booked for that Saturday to do our TTD that day which would be perfect. It's the Saturday right before Christmas so we might get lucky with that. Haha i'm not sure how my FI will feel about waking up early Saturday morning after the wedding though. I'm sure he's going to be very hungover. I'll see how it plays out. The dress is made of chiffon and sequins, so it might be fine in the water? Easy solution of course is to buy MULTIPLE dresses haha... but not sure the FI will feel about that!

@@kmk2016 - I've just inquired about pics and will update once I hear. The DH Gate site is kind of a pain because it says you can only upload 4 pics at once, and it looked like none of them got uploaded so I could only send a link of the actual designer website. Maybe I'll upload all the pics I've found somewhere and direct them there. I'm a bit torn on dress style because I'd love to wear the sequin one as a reception and TTD - only thing is we will likely have to do our TTD before the wedding. We're getting married on a Friday and leaving Sunday. Saturday the photographers usually have other weddings to shoot, so we were thinking to do it on the Weds or Thurs before the wedding. I'm not sure if the dress would be wearable after the TTD. This one also is prob. too revealing for a church wedding too unless I wore it with some type of shrug/bolero thing. Hmm...

@@acw271011 @@acw271011 - I didn't even look at this thread until after I had bought my dress! I might have gone this route otherwise. I'm very happy with my dress though and I got it for an extreme discount so I can't complain. Some of my FI's friends that are getting married this year have spent almost 10k on dresses :S. I was up til 3am last night reading this thread haha. Some of the dresses are really beautiful and some came out really badly. I think it really is about going to the right dress maker and also choosing a dress that won't be impossible to replicate. I just want a cheapy second dress now, but I'd prob go with Jasmine's if it was my actual dress! I actually found my dress on Carabridal (!), and it's listed for $200 CDN. The baby online Reem Acra one is about $115 CDN. Hmm - decisions decisions
-
Yapta is great! I've used it for other bookings. Some airlines will give you a credit if the price drops too!
-
Ah Dressily doesn't think they'll be able to replicate the dress I wanted! Jasmines wanted $380 + $30 for the photo service - a lot higher than I wanted. Waiting on babyonline now, otherwise I might have to go toward a different dress. I thought this dress would be fairly easy to construct, but maybe that isn't the case? Attached pics if anyone has any dress knowledge I'm also thinking about the Reem Acra dress Olivia Wilde wore and babyonline or light in the box already has it in their repertoire and it's super cheap! Any advice about colour? I'd want this one for our actual church wedding ceremony at home and our TTD pics. Torn between the silver shown, ivory or a blush pink hmm (I also kind of love the red but that would prob be a big no for the church!) http://www.dhgate.com/store/product/2013-new-babyonline-sexy-chiffon-lace-cap/120810060.html http://www.lightinthebox.com/chiffon-a-line-floor-length-evening-dress-inspired-by-vanessa_p70570.html#have_reviews

I'm thinking of doing this, but only if I find a reception dress I really love enough to change. I'm okay with a short or long dress for the reception, but I want it to have some wow factor - thinking (tasteful) sequins or big tropical floral haha I feel like I need a plethora of white dresses right now! We're having a white party another night, and I might have to wear white for my Bach too

@@kmk2016 - Thanks for the tips! The dress I want is fairly simple - no beading or lace (just sequins and chiffon). I don't want to spend a ton because it's not my actual wedding dress, and might end up getting wrecked during my TTD I'm also now looking at a Reem Acra replica and babyonline has one, as does light in the box! I'm going to pull up some searches and see what I can find for reviews haha I think I found the gianair name on an older thread! I'll post once I get the quote from them
-
Hello ladies, I haven't had time to read through this whole thread (!), but was wondering for a few recommendations of reputable dress makers? I've emailed Jasmine's Bridal, Dressilyme, Baby online and gianinarbridal so far. Are there any others that are generally recommended? Jasmine quoted me $380 which is higher than I'd like, and I'm still waiting on the other 3. This is for a reception/TTD dress so I want to keep the price lower. Thank you!

@@LisaAnthonyPoppy - Yeah, if I could afford a wedding planner I'd love to have one, but budget wise, it doesn't make sense for us. I already had all my vendors lined up and just basically needed someone to coordinate the day of and maybe decorate. You can try negotiating with a wedding planner, but it's probably not in their best interests to take on a client that doesn't need that much, you know. I decided the costs were still too high, and decided to go with Beach Palace because of their unlimited private events. Good luck with your decision! This stressed me out a ton (as you can see from my original post!), but i'm a lot more relaxed now that I have my wedding date booked! @@shelikespink - Yes you can book the wedding. That's actually the first thing they want. You reserve it with $250 for the complimentary package (and more if you are upgrading your ceremony). We wanted to have our hotel rate locked as well and make sure there was enough availability because our wedding is in only 8 months! If you're looking at next year, you definitely have time to shop around. I think a lot of the ladies here already have wedding dates for 2015 and 2016 without booking the hotel rooms yet
