  1. @@ABfutureSulli - I worked with Gerry - Gerardo Dominguez Rodriguez <gdominguez@@PalaceResorts.com>. His rates were comparable to others we found, and I got a free admission as the Bride/group organizer What time of year is your wedding? We were there in December so it was pretty dark at 7pm. The Palenque terrace is huge so you will prob. need some extra lighting - same as Infinity Terrace. We paid 2014 prices but the strands were $150. Zuniga did charge a daily set up fee but it was less for our other events. You might be able to negotiate something with them, esp. if you get a similar quote from another vendor like Latin Asia. We worked w/ Cristina who was a bit tight and wouldn't really negotiate w/ us, but I've heard better things about Lily. We dealt with Latin Asia too late so we didn't really have a lot of time/wiggle room for negotiations
  2. @@Danielle1 - For a symbolic, anyone can do it really. We had my husband's brother be ours and it was a nice way to include him. Most of our guests knew that it was a symbolic ceremony but it didn't really take away from it at all We actually had the opposite experience for food haha. We thought the breakfast buffet was pretty good and Tequila was good in general for an all-inclusive. Anything Mexican tended to be delicious. We thought Wok was pretty bad, but we are Asian. Most of our guests liked the Terazza grill the best with the Italian second. Everyone also loved the Beach bar for snacks and the burgers they grilled by the pool. Overall, I think BP has decent all-inclusive food - not 5 star of course but better than some other resorts I"ve been to Cross your fingers for good weather, ladies. Our wedding turned out fine but we are so lucky we got to use the Palace Elite room as our back up location. I do wish I had thought more about a back up rain plan. We had sunshine every other day though so we had a good week at least - when we were leaving, the forecast was predicting rain for almost the entire next week!
  3. Unfortunately I can't edit my first post. All I have left are 1 ring bearer outfit (bow tie and suspenders), earrings and some of the pic frames if anyone wants those. Decided to keep my cake topper and gold sequin table cloth - everything else has been sold.
  4. Ours was $400 in Cancun and lasted like 5-6 hours, a few different locations and outfit changes and all transportation costs to Isla Mujeres. It was almost like a little day trip with our photographer along Definitely think about what you want to wear! I have dress regret for our engagement pics haha - wish I had chosen something else to wear now bleh. And my hair was super flat that day because it was so hot - I kind of wish I had gotten it styled now
  5. Sorry ladies - I think all I have left are 1 ring bearer outfit, earrings and some of the pic frames if anyone wants those. Decided to keep my cake topper and gold sequin table cloth - everything else has been sold. @@missMandM - I got the fabric from Ikea then had the table runner made myself!
  6. They look great! I'm planning the honeymoon now too . We are thinking 2 weeks in Paris, San Sebastian and Barcelona
  7. I got all my bouquets and bouts from Bloom Bridal - they were really fantastic
  8. Ohh I like your logo! We had an arrow theme too but much simpler. Yours looks awesome and the cups turned out great!
  9. I had mine for 8 months before. Just kept it hung up in it's bag in the closet and it was 100% fine for the wedding
  10. Your OOT items sound great! That sarong is very pretty; I'd love to get one as a guest! We did sunglasses and they were a hit - people were rocking them all week
  11. Haha I tried to lightly watch my food/drink intake before the wedding as well. Prob. a good thing otherwise I'd have come 10lbs more Same Kim. So much anxiety before we left for Mexico but once we got there most of the nerves and stress went away . The good thing for us w/ the wedding is we did a church wedding first so we kind of had a trial run before. In the church wedding, we couldn't even get the rings on properlyso we knew for the real wedding ceremony to just put it on the other person's finger and then we helped push it up ourselves. It looked a lot more fluid than trying to jam it on each other's fingers
  12. We did a sand ceremony and it was lovely We kind of alternated pouring the sand back and forth and it looked very pretty at the end
  13. Unfortunately most resorts do charge vendor fees! It's a way to price gouge us brides. I know some brides have gone off resort successfully - I do sometimes wish I had explored that option more, but I was in a time crunch
  14. @@malyna - Oh you picked your dress! I was waiting for an update. Did you post pics any where? I didn't have regrets about my dress, but I do regret not being able to buy and wear like 5 different dresses haha. I love my dress for what it was, but I think I could have easily found more dresses to love . What I did was stop looking at dresses at all and second guessing myself once I got it. I didn't have money to buy more than one, and I didn't want to stress myself out. I also made sure to try it on every so often and I had pics of myself in it on my phone that I could pull up anytime I was unsure
  15. We did 2 welcome parties of sort - a welcome party the night of arrival where we had dinner, passed out OOT bags and played some drinking games. We also had a white party the day before our wedding (we had a lot more guests arrive then). It overlooked the beach and we hired a cigar roller - it was a blast You can see pics of both on my review under Part 1
  16. We were disappointed w/ our "upgrade". We booked an ocean view hoping to get put into a concierge room (what they told us at our site visit). Our upgrade turned out to be an ocean room - but on the concierge floor so we got a pillow menu and extra chocolates :s.
  17. I wrote "thank you for the generous gift." I read some etiquette things that suggest saying what you're going to spend the money on but that just sounded awkward to me I already sent out thank you cards after getting any gift for engagement parties, shower, etc. so I just had the wedding ones to give out last month. The wedding picture Shutterfly ones just went to the people that came to the wedding in Mexico. Other people I sent more generic thank you cards I picked up at Homesense, Target, etc.
  18. @@ParinazSerri - I'm pretty sure I recognize your wedding - we watched it from the beach . We got married a few days after you. Think you guys were a few rooms down from us as well. Congrats! Beautiful pics
  19. I thought it was weird before too but it was actually really nice. We walked to the end of the aisle and there was a little area set up w a table of champagne. We did a toast and then did group pics. We got some nice pics of the toast too - I'll post some later when I get home
  20. Kim, I somehow missed this thread before. How courageous of you to make that decision and do what is best for you and your boys! I am glad that you are still able to travel for the week and celebrate your friendships and family, and I can't wait to see what you have planned . Sending you a lot of hugs and love. Your words and advice here have always been so helpful as I planned for my own wedding and I know other ladies here feel the same way. I am glad to hear that you'll still be on the forum - this really is a fantastic community and you're one of the reasons why I continue to check in!
  21. @@breezie - Haha I said that to my husband too We're going to celebrate our Mexico wedding date. We got legally married in Canada the week before but it didn't "feel" like our wedding and it wasn't what we envisioned as our real wedding
  22. @@calgarybride2015 - No custom fees! My order wasn't expensive though - just under $55. I think you tend to get dinged more on customs if you have a huge order
  23. @@calgarybride2015 - Haha they weren't bad and there are always discount codes . There were cheaper places but we were only ordering 30 cards and these were the people that actually came to Mexico so we wanted to get something a bit nicer. Also Shutterfly was one of the only sites that had 5x7 thank you cards - most are 3.5x5 which were a bit small b/c we wanted to write a nice message in each and include the 4x6 photos
