What Flavor Is Your Cake?
tygrrlily replied to nadiakat17's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I definitely will. I can't wait to get transfered to the on-site coordinator to actually start planning things! -

Nope! I didn't even know we could request that. Our site visit wasn't that helpful to be honest Our wedding isn't until 5 days after we arrive though, so I'm wondering if I can do a tasting earlier that week -

I have no idea!! Palace is awful at communication I have to say - we haven't been told anything. We have an off site coordinator now who is useless, but apparently we get switched to an on-site coordinator one month before, and they're the ones that really hammer out all the details with you. So right now, I'm basically just biding my time trying to find out as much info as I can so I can do it all in the last month @@nadiakat17 - When and where is your wedding? I got brochures about "extras" we can upgrade to haha... just not a lot of the basic stuff But back to cakes. I think we'll probably go with dulce de leche or chocolate -

I am jealous of you ladies actually knowing about cake flavours! Our WC has barely answered my questions even confirming the times/locations :S -
We did exactly this. I didn't want to spend the money twice and like you, it'd be over 100 invites. So we sent out our invitations early around 7 months before, and have since kept a very updated website. We're going to send out packages at the end of the month to guests that have booked with passport booklets w/ more info, luggage tags and a personalized "get pumped" cd... I'm willing to spend more money on the people that are actually coming!

I agree with the ladies above - I think you've really done what you can. I really like what Becky98 suggested above about telling her that she's your friend and that you love her and you hope she supports you. Beyond that, you should not have to chase or beg her... that's ridiculous. Friendships really have to go both ways with both people making an effort. If she books her spot and shows up to the concert, then you know that she does want to be your BM and a part of your life. If she doesn't, friendships unfortunately can shift and change in nature. Is your friend single by any chance? I know this sounds kind of bad, but I found when getting engaged that it seemed to upset one of my single girlfriends who has been distant since. It is definitely disappointing though. I hope everything resolves itself!

Welcome and congrats! Love that you are taking the initiative to help with the planning

I'm definitely going to look into that David's one. I wouldn't mind a thicker one. I would never let it out of my sight either

I'm on a FB page for DW brides, and a lot of them recommend the Wally 66" bag. It's supposed to be really good for wrinkles and can even fold up, and hold a couple dresses or sutis, but it costs $150 :S http://www.amazon.ca/WallyBags-Inch-Tri-Fold-Destination-Black/dp/B002B0CR0S

@@calgarybride2015 - I work out at Goodlife too! I used to be so good and went 3-4x a week. Then I took a fall doing a class there (Body Attack - my fave), and my ankle hasn't been the same since. It's hard for me to put pressure on it, and all my workouts used to involve lots of aerobics and jumping haha - I like doing fun stuff when I work out. So I have to change the way I work out and that's making me lazy. My FI has tried to train me a couple of times, but I apparently suck at "activating my glutes" so I don't lift weights properly and it hurts my lower back. My FI is a health nut - works out 5-7x a week and is so disciplined with his diet. I swear instead of motivating me, it makes it even harder living with someone like that haha @@acw271011 - For me, it was my late 20s! My metabolism has slowed down a lot and I LOVE food - it's prob one of my biggest hobbies and passions haha. I love that you look forward to your nightly salad .

@@calgarybride2015 - Congrats!! You look amazing and I'm so impressed you lost 125 lbs!! I've tried My Fitness Pal a few times and it was really good for the month or so I used it, but I eventually get lazy/tired to track everything. I've gained weight this summer because of an injury that stopped me from regularly working out... and I got lazy... and I love food so much. And now it's less than 4 months to the wedding so I need to get motivated again and find new work outs that I can do

Elsa's & Arthur's Wedding @ Rprm 2014.12.08

Your guestbook print outs look so good! I love the art deco-ish vibe Just a question - did the writing/images print clearly? I don't have publisher, but have been using powerpoint to design some (basic) things. I converted them to pdf and tried uploading to vistaprint, but it says the resolution is too low so I'm wondering how it'll look printed Thanks- 87 replies

Welcome and congrats! I went to Glasgow a couple of yrs ago and loved it Happy wedding planning! If you're having a DW, this site is a god send. But fair warning, you will become obsessed and spend all of your time on this site

I looked at the afloral ones too. They actually give measurements - I think it was a 6 inch diameter. You can also find bigger ones on dif websites I went with silk bouquets to decorate the aisle chairs instead from afloral. I should be getting them this week so I'll let you know the quality.

@@nadiakat17 - If you sign up on their website, you'll get email notifications of their sales! I'm not sure when your wedding is, but if you can hold off, they seem to have sales a couple times a year. I got mine during their 4th of July sale and it was 40% off. They might have one for Labour Day and prob. Black Friday. Just keep in mind that whenever you order them, it takes a while for them to process, design/proof and ship out the bags. I think it took about 5 weeks to actually get the bags They are awesome! Super happy with how they look

Thank you ladies! I'm really happy we got to celebrate with my grandparents who are unable to go to Mexico. It was funny though because I think we had about 80 people - i.e. double the amount that will be at our actual wedding haha @@Icis - I got mine at Pacific Mall in Toronto! I think you guys have an equivalent in Richmond? Prob. would have been cheaper to buy online but I have a non-typically Asian body so wanted to try it on first. @@acw271011 - Yes at my parent's house in Toronto

We had our Vietnamese/Chinese engagement party and tea ceremony on Saturday, and I wanted to share some pics with you ladies! In my culture, these are both big events. The engagement party is when the bride and groom become officially engaged and accepted by the family. The groom's family brings a lot of gifts to the bride's family like money, tea, wine, cakes and cookies, fruit and a big roast pig. The tea ceremony is usually done the day of the wedding, and in my culture, this is almost like the actual wedding. For them, exchanging vows is nice to watch, but the serving of the tea and acceptance into the family is when the couple actually becomes "married." So to my family at least, we're pretty much married . We decided to combine both of these 2 events into one big day so my grandparents who can't come to Mexico could celebrate with us. I'm wearing a Chinese style qi pao, and you'll see some of my family members in the Vietnamese ao dai. I'm half Chinese and half Vietnamese, so we tend to have traditions from both cultures. My FI's family is Korean, and we encouraged his mom to wear a traditional Korean dress - a hanbook.

Flow of reception/no dj
tygrrlily replied to shes2013's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I hired an off resort DJ for this reason! Even with the Palace vendor fee, we're getting a lot more hours and extras (lighting, etc.) for under the price of the resort ones
