Haha Kim is a great name! I think there are a few of you on this forum now . One of his friend's also has the last name Kim and is currently dating a girl named Kimberley. So everyone jokingly calls her "Kim Kim" now I was never into cake toppers either. I do love the ones with just flowers on top and that's what my Pinterest folder is filled with. But then I saw the lollipop cake toppers on etsy and fell in love haha. I haven't pulled the trigger yet because they're so pricey, but I keep thinking it'd be a great keepsake https://www.etsy.com/shop/lollipopworkshop

@@calgarybride2015 - Well, I'm frugal about some things but VERY spendy about others haha - it's got to balance out, right? I'm currently trying to justify getting things like a $200 personalized cake topper, or the $700 wedding shoes I'm dying for haha... but frugality will probably win out We are legally getting married. It's not a requirement to change last names though, and I'm pretty attached to mine. It alliterates, and is fairly uncommon whereas his is the most common Korean last name - Kim. It's basically the equivalent of "Smith". Soo yeah... just going to leave it and see if he pushes more or not. I love my FI but he's weirdly traditional about some things!

@@calgarybride2015 - I love it! Your wedding will be a blast . Our friends are big drinkers as well, so we're anticipating a great party.

@@calgarybride2015 - I think I'm more pragmatic/frugal than sentimental so I'm hoping to sell my dress AND hanger at the end of this . And anything else I can too haha. The pics, video and small keepsakes here and there will be enough for me I don't know if I'm odd with the last name change, but I just can't bring myself to want to haha. I quite like my name the way it is now. My FI very strongly wants me to take his though. I read a thread about practicing a new signature and I literally was like because I couldn't even fathom having to change my signature. I plan to just not do anything about it though because my FI will be too lazy to get or do any of the paper work himself haha

Very pretty! I want to get a pretty hanger, but not necessarily a personalized one. I still haven't come to terms with possibly taking his last name either haha. So I'm going to get this one - http://www.bhldn.com/product/heirloom-hangers-mr I want a pretty hanger for pics, but I'm going to see If I can sell it after to recoup some of the cost .

@@Lia33 - Haha I'm amazing your FI listened! No way my FI and his friends were going to pass an opportunity to go to Vegas . Not that I can blame him because I would have jumped at the chance too had it been presented to me I tried to make the whole "let's save everyone money" and do it both in Cancun, but his friends, esp. the Best Man, were super gung ho to go (of course). I want him to have a fun though, so didn't fight it. I only let him go for 2 nights and not 3 though haha

Dw Dress...follow The Rules?

@@Sabes44 - What a hot dress!! That back is to die for! You look amazing -
Haha I get it completely. My boyfriend is currently on a flight to Vegas for his weekend Bachelor party. Mine will be next Saturday here in Toronto - no idea what's involved - but I'm not really excited at all, as bad as that sounds. I don't begrudge my friends at all and I'm sure we'll have fun, but it's hard to get excited when I know he's in Vegas haha I didn't get involved at all. Even though I'm usually the planner of the group and have planned awesome bach parties in Vegas and Cancun before, I didn't want to have to plan my own Bach. party or Bridal Shower

Welcome Dinner/post Wedding Brunch
tygrrlily replied to nadiakat17's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Our wedding is toward the end of our week, so we're having 2 other events. We're doing a welcome brunch the day after arrival where we'll give out our welcome bags and see if anyone wants to do group tours using our resort credits together. Luckily this event is free, and we're not going to do any add ons at all Our other event is a White Party the night before the wedding when all of our guests will have arrived. It's going to be a cocktail + dinner on a terrace overlooking the beach. We might have this be our rehearsal dinner too. We're going to get a cigar roller, and I'm thinking about maybe a Mexican trio or mariachi band here instead of at the wedding reception -
Thanks Laura! We knew we wanted the photographers for at least 8 hours so while I really liked companies like Del Sol or Elizabeth Medina, they were way over budget for all the hours we wanted. We went with Lancelotti photography and our package includes 8-10 hours, 2 shooters, all edited pics and a ttd shoot another day. We have our videographer (indigo wedding) for 8 hrs too I think.

@@LauraM - I swear I've asked the same question three times and still nothing. I need to confirm my event times and dates so I can work on other stuff! Abril was good for like one week. Since then I have to send her multiple follow up emails :S -

@@LauraM - I've asked my WC but still waiting :s. Who do you have as yours? I have Abril and it takes ages to get any response. I can't wait til I get my on site coordinator -
I'll be 31 and FI 33 at our wedding Looks like a lot of us are above 30

@@LauraM - you can prob pay for another hour if you want them longer. We have our photographer booked for 8-10 hours because I want the party covered too! I love dancing candids I'm still finalising our timeline and trying to get my WC to reply and confirm times with me so I can also confirm with our DJ! I think ours is going like this: 2pm - ceremony (December wedding - shouldn't be too hot) 2:30-5pm - group shots, bridal party shots, bride and groom shots, and break for guests. We are all on resort so we prefer to have the break so people can change, nap, etc. 5:00-6:00pm - cocktail hour. We deliberately put this after pics and during sunset because we want to attend it too 6:15pm - entrances 6:30pm - bride/groom dance and bride groom speeches (we want to get them finished first so we can relax and drink and enjoy the rest of the night) 7-8:30pm - buffet dinner and cake cutting. Will prob have MOH and best man speak during dinner. 8:30-11pm/12am - dance party! And hope to continue on at the hotel bar if we want to We're paying to extend our reception by 3-4 hours (3 hours included). It's $60/table per hour so it'll be $900-$1200 to extend. We want our wedding to be a similar timeline to a normal reception. Choosing not to do the father/daughter, mother/son dances and no garter or bouquet toss.

Looks great! I'm going to try to do something similar, but haven't even started yet. Are you printing it as a brochure. I plan on printing a bunch of my final things w/ Vistaprint as well, but the options throw me somewhat. I wish we could just upload, choose a size, choose a paper stock instead of choosing between "jumbo postcard" or "rack card" Will look forward to the rest of this thread

Bringing Tumblers On Plane
tygrrlily replied to nadiakat17's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
@@calgarybride2015 - I think I'm going to do the same. Stack them in each other and assemble there. I might just attach the sticklers there too to make it easier. I'll prob wrap those and the maracas w some bubble wrap too and hope they don't break Haven't even thought about how many bags well need yet but most of us are flying out the same day so we can ask ppl to bring an extra bag for us for only $20 for the second bag. Luckily my parents sell suitcase and have a ton for us to use! -
Bm Drama - Sister Issues.... What To Do?
tygrrlily replied to KAT2015's topic in Just venting or funnies
I think you should just ask people you want to be standing next to you. If that doesn't include your sister, so be it. I can see she'd be upset, but ultimately it is your wedding, and you shouldn't bow down to please others! Esp if she's the dramatic type I have 2 sisters and I didn't ask either of them to be in my bridal party. We are close, but our family isn't lovey dovey at all. I know their personality types and I knew they would not be very good as bridesmaids. There would be a ton of complaining and drama that I just don't want to deal with. Luckily my sister's weren't offended at all. I do plan on having them being involved the day of, doing readings during the ceremony or as MC during the reception. But I didn't want to have them be part of the actual wedding party and planning things like the Bach or Shower Kind of ironically though, my MOH is now no longer coming (pregnant) so I just have 1 bridal party member for the day of. A lot of people have been bugging me to "even the numbers out" (he will have 2) and the easiest choice is my unmarried sister, but I don't want to have someone up there just for the sake of it, you know. But we'll see. If I do end up asking her, it'd be much closer to the date and it would just be for the day. My other choice I'm leaning toward is my FI's groomsmen's wife who has become a one of my closest friends. I was actually going to originally ask her anyway, but they will have a 3 month old baby they're bringing and I knew she'd be busy taking care of him! So I'm unsure about that and considering maybe just leaving it at 1. It's not a big deal to me, but other people seem horrified at not having it even haha Good luck!! Try to do what makes you happy! One thing I have really found during the whole DW process is that you are not going to make everyone happy
