  1. oh no....eeeeeek. I have contacted the resort and now I am running into somewhat of an issue. someone help!!! I have originally contacted the resort on Friday April 4th and they told me that the 2pm and 4pm ceremony was available. I have since then been trying to get a hold of the resort, but with no luck. Then I was contacted today after I sent in my contract stating that I wanted the 4pm ceremony and they wrote me back saying all that is left for this day is 2pm because of the package I have chosen. My wedding is on April 17/2015. I was wanting the 4pm time for the ceremony because I am having the reception on the La Barcaza wedding boat and I didn't want my guests to be waiting all day for the reception. I really wanted this 4pm time. I have emailed the resort back to ask why is it because of the package I have chosen? is it because I have chosen the Melia Wedding package that all they have for this particular package is the 2pm time. I haven't heard back from them yet as I am assuming they are probably out of the office by now. Have anybody ever encountered this before and if I end up only having that 2pm time to chose then what will I do with my guests that will be waiting until 6pm for the reception on the La Barcaza? HELP well just heard back from the resort. that was quick. Apparently you can only have the 4pm time for the ceremony only if you purchase the Fairy Tale package. this is sad as I don't need everything that is included in this package and feel it would be a waste of money. Now I have to come up with extra money anyway to have some sort of a cocktail thing because my guests will be waiting until the time the ceremony is over until the boat is ready to leave which is at 6pm.
  2. Yeah photography is something that is highly priced and very important to this list you have. It seems like I will be spending just as much on photography as everything else, if not more.
  3. this looks great. but knowing I am not that creative, I probably won't be going with these. too bad though because they are a great idea. although I am paying someone to do passport invitations for me. I am not sending out save the dates just the actual invites. I wanted the passport invitations because it seems you can put a whole lot more information on there. I am going to meet the lady this weekend coming to go over how I want them done and then in turn she will give me a quote. Hopefully it's not too crazy expensive.
  4. HI There, I was wondering if anyone had done any Melia Caribe passport invites and what they look like? I would like to see some ideas of what people have put on there? my email is [email protected] if you would like to send me pictures of your invitations. Thanks,
  5. Hi trbutler, I am unable to see any pics beause I haven't reached my limit of comments. I was wondering if you could send me the pics, templates, and any other information I would need? I would greatly appreciate it. My email is [email protected] Thanks so much @@trbutler Thanks again in advance.
  6. I get the same reactions when I tell people I am having a destination wedding. People usually sigh and ask right away how much? I know it's an expense to attend our wedding but the wedding is one day and they get a vacation out of it too. I find there will always be someone complaining about something. If you are to have it in your hometown, I am sure they will find something to complain about. you can't make everyone happy and that's just the way it is. Best off doing what you want from the beginning and people can deal with your choice whether they like it or not.
  7. Hi There, I just confirmed my wedding date for April 17, 2015 at the Melia Caribe Tropical resort. I am so excited. Are there any other brides getting married at the Melia Caribe in 2015? I have my date confirmed with the La Barcaza as well for the reception. I am hoping everything goes smoothly. I have my ceremony at 4pm then I have the boat at 6pm. Will this give us enough of time for pictures etc? SOOOOO excited.
  8. What do you girls think of the price of $1690 leaving St. John's. I am trying to get some input as I don't want my guests to feel ripped off or anything.
  9. You are one of the few that were able to do that I am sure. I don't think I am getting any lower than $1690 with my pricing and that's with Air Transat. I might be able to get lower with Air Canada but do I want to wait another couple of months? what do you girls think of this pricing. This is leaving from St. John's and taxes included. And it's for the Melia Caribe in Punta Cana.
  10. haha I have contacted Legrow's travel first when I started searching for prices but I decided not to go with them because they didn't respond as quick as some of them. Yes I have contacted a lot until I found the right one. Is everyone sending out save the dates? I was thinking on maybe just sending out invitations and hoping to give people 11 months notice at least. That's why I am trying to get the flights booked so soon.
  11. Have all of you ladies booked your wedding date with the resort before getting the travel times. I am undecided what to do?
  12. I will for sure. and congratulations on your wedding date being booked. I should probably do that too so I can have things booked for the wedding at least.
  13. oh man I want to see pictures so bad and don't have enough posts yet.
  14. Hi Meandhim, My travel agent is someone thought I found recommended on this site. I have to tell you that I have been through quite a few travel agents. I don't know if I was just too early looking for prices but it seems I couldn't get much info from them or even a little help or advice on what to do. The one I have now is really awesome and seems to be interested in making sure I get the best quote possible. Her name is Vanessa Martinez from Centre Holidays. She is still checking out a few other options for me but at least I will stick with $1690 if nothing else comes back reasonable. It's cheaper than most quotes I have gotten. I also seen a few other people on here having their wedding date booked at the resort and all other things like photography and reception before they have flights. I was wondering about doing that too but kind of nervous about it. I want to wait it out another couple of weeks for flights prices but I don't want to miss out on the dates I could have things booked at the resort. It's so hard to figure out what to do.
  15. HI, FutureMrsMichaud, So you have the resort and everything booked besides the actual flight times? So you have a specific date that you have to fly now? what if you can't get the flights you want or doesn't work around the date you already booked your wedding? is this common to do this? I have thought about it but was thinking if I did that and I couldn't get the flights to work around that date, then I would lose my deposits? Have anyone else done this also?
  16. I agree. Do whatever you think is best and what you want to do. Every bride has the same thing going on and that's trying not to let it bother us what others think.
  17. Thanks so much. I do have an awesome travel agent. I did get a price back with Air Transat and so far it's the lowest. I don't know if waiting it out will drop the price or am I risking it. Most of my group are flying from St. John's - $1690 per person based on double From Toronto - $1450 per person based on double those are the prices I received. St. John's is a pain to fly out of because it's always so expensive. Some of my guests (of who I have told so far) said that this is expensive. I am getting my travel agent to check on that one time price adjustment.
  18. Hi, I am not sure if you are still checking this site or not but was wondering if you could send me that template if you still have it?
  19. I am actually trying to decide for Now Larimar and the Melia Caribe. I am getting married in April 2015. Were you able to get any pricing yet?
  20. HI there, I seem to be having trouble getting reasonable rates right now with flights for our guests. It seems all the quotes I get back are high right now. I am getting married April 2015. Would any of you suggest booking the resort wedding date, and the La Barcaza boat( this is what I am having for my reception) and then book the flights? I would like to wait it out to see if prices get lower but I don't want to miss out on the dates at the resort either to book everything else. Also what happens if I book the wedding date and then I can't get the flights times with the airline if I wait it out. God this is nerve wrecking. HELP me please. I just need some suggestion as to what other brides have done or are doing?
