I am getting there slowly but I am doing pretty good so far considering my wedding is a little over a year away. I have a lot of tips and ideas to get from this site yet.

hi @@jwalsh, I got a confirmation of my deposit today from La Barcaza. I am soooo excited for that. I believe that will be the highlight of the day for everyone. My wedding isn't until April 2015 but I wanted to secure the boat because I love that idea. I am waiting now on the resort to confirm my receipt of payment. yay.

HI, @@aborgesbride I believe they do accept wire transfers mostly but I guess it depends on the resort. both the resort and the wedding boat I booked accepted wire transfers. You should check with the resort you have in mind and see what they do in particular.

yay just got an email from La Barcaza saying they received my deposit. that is now booked and confirmed. Now I am waiting on the resort to contact me and let me know they received the deposit. I agree with kmk2016 you have to get this sorted because it's only a few months away. Try communicating with a couple of travel agents today and keep your there too on the back burner. Then whoever gets back faster with the best rate wins. That 's pretty much what I did. Some TA's didn't even get back to me and it was frustrating trying to narrow someone down.

HI @@tygrrlily, I locked in my price with my TA yesterday for Melia Caribe. With my deposit it hold 30 seats for 90 days. Bride and groom had to make a deposit of $200 and then my guests have to deposit $50 to hold their spot. I ended up getting a price with Air Transat leaving St. John's for $1690 and leaving Toronto for $1450. This is the best rate I received for this hotel thus far. Everything else was coming back in the $2000 range. The travel agent also said this rate will most likely end up going up not down. So I went with it. Everyone is pretty anxious to put in the deposits and I don't even have invites out yet. I just locked in this price myself yesterday.

ok thanks. I have let them know and also sent the receipt to them as well showing that I did send it. Hopefully they will get it soon. They told me they would confirm with me once they receive it. I sent it on Monday so hopefully soon.

@@kmk2016 Hi, How long does it normally take for a wire transfer to go through...international. I have no idea and will be nervous until they get their money.

@@FutureMrsMichaud, Have you checked into rates and able to get any within your guests budget? Also when you sent your deposit, did you have to pay the fee at their end for in order for them to receive it. I have never sent a wire transfer so I am not sure what I had to do. I sent my transfer for the hotel and the La Barcaza but the bank teller wasn't sure if I had to pay that or them. I paid for the wire transfer to send it but I didn't pick it up at their end? was I suppose to? Sorry I should have asked too how long do it normally take for them to receive the money?

T-25. Although I have to see is kind of tough. but it's also suffering it out for 25 minutes as opposed to an hour.

so hard to find so much to talk about to reach 150. I thought I had a lot of questions and figured I would reach 150 pretty quick. Seems always hard coming up with questions when you are trying to think of them on the spot. Yeah the travel agent said it's a really good rate. I have quoted that same resort with a couple of previous travel agents and they quoted me at $2000. Also the price from Toronto I have for that resort is $1450 which is awesome. I told her go ahead and take my deposit before they change their minds...haha @kmk2006 @@shawnandellen2015 @@kmk2016

@@csho your time is getting closer. You must be getting really excited now. I ended up booking with the Air Transat quote after. the $1690 leaving St. John's. Air Canada quoted like $400 more and my travel agent said that's the best price she has seen since 2010.i also have the wedding date booked for April 17, 2015 with the resort. I sent my contract and wired them the money. I also have the La Barcaza boat booked for my reception. I sent them the deposit as well. I hope they get their money and it went through ok. Hopefully they won't book that date with someone else....eeeeek everything is so nerve wrecking. I am very excited though that much is done.

Can someone tell if you are sending a wire transfer, if we need to pay the beneficiary fees on their end? I paid the deposit plus the wire transfer fee for me to send it but I didn't pay for the fee for them to accept. was I supposed to pay for this too? I have never sent a wire transfer before and I went to my local bank instead of Western Union because it was my first time and I figured they would know more than me. I sent the wire transfer to the La Barcaza boat and also the Melia Caribe Resort. Any help or advice greatly appreciated.
