@@Feath07 I am getting married April 17, 2015 at the Melia Caribe Tropical in Punta Cana. I have never visited this resort but it looks beautiful for weddings. Some reasons why I chose this resort: - Seems to be a lot of restaurant options for my guests (most of them are picky eaters, well my family anyway) - The gardens are beautiful and would look great for pictures - There is an adult only section to this resort which is where my fiancé and I will be staying. But it also gives people the opportunity to take their kids too. best of both worlds. - They seem to have a good selection for wedding packages. - The price was right when we booked - The only downfall I would say of booking at this resort is what the resort charges for a fee in order for you to have an outside photographer. If you want to have an outside photographer come to take photos it costs $1000 just to get them on the resort. This I found was outrageous but we are booking HDC photography anyway and their prices are pretty reasonable.

haha yeah that's the other problem too with going with other people. they have their own input on what they like themselves. I don't think they actually think about your style and what you like. I think it's mostly what their tastes are. So yeah going by myself seems like the right choice. I will definitely have to try that dress on. As soon as I seen it online, It just stood out. No others have done that.

They are beautiful but I guess it can be risky.

I have a dress that I love in my head but I have yet to try it on. I love this dress. Hope it's flattering when I finally hunt it down and try it on.

@@tygrrlily - Yeah I love this dress. I also have bigger hips and I was hoping to hide them somewhat or at least not emphasize them so much. I was hoping the little flower on that dress would camouflage the hips somehow. I am glad to hear that the dress doesn't look as flattering on tall and slim hahaha missus in the picture looks like a size -0. I am usually a size 10 in normal clothes. I have to try this dress on. Hopefully it flatters. Fingers crossed but if not I am sure to find something lace that would flatter. Trying the attachment again.

Thanks girls, I think I will just go myself. It's not a big deal but I think my problem is everyone else is making a big deal out of it. They are like "omg you're not going yourself?" I didn't think it was a big deal before but when people start saying it like that then I wonder "geeze is it a big deal." anyway I will go myself and just send pics. There is actually a dress I happened to see online and I would like to find a place that sells it to try it on. Not sure if it would fit my body type at all but I just love it so much. I am going to hunt around and see if anyone carries it. The dress I love is Da Vinci style 50096 in case anyone wants to have a look. Here is the dress attached also if anyone wants to have a look. let me know what you think? I am not slim and tall by no means. can't seem to attach it all of a sudden

I kind of live an 8 hour flight away. It's kind of a long trip just to have someone with me dress shopping. I may end up going myself and if I am allowed then I will take pictures and send them to family/friends to get opinions. I find some wedding dress shops won't even allow you to take pictures which is kind of stupid.

Hi Girls, I am kind of stalling on looking at wedding dresses for a couple of reasons. 1) my fiancé and I just moved to a new province and have no one to go with me wedding dress shopping. My family and friends are no where near me and to go myself it just don't feel right. I feel like a lost dog in a wedding dress store with not much help or assistance with what would look good on me. The sales ladies I feel will say everything looks good because they want to try to sell. A couple of girls from work offered to go with me but I don't know them that well and it just wouldn't be the same. My fiancé wants me to take someone with me because he thinks it will be sad for me to go myself. He feels really bad about it. I am sure he would go with me but I don't want him to see my dress. 2) there is a particular style of dress I am wanting in my mind - sweetheart neckline and lace. But I feel all the lace dresses are pretty slim fitting and I feel like that wouldn't suit well with my body type. I need to keep an open mind but don't want to be left disappointed either. Any body running into these issues? or have gone wedding dress shopping by yourselves? I would feel better knowing there are people out there that have gone by yourself?

I have yet to buy my dress. I have went looking a couple of times but it's not the same when I go myself. My fiancé and I just moved to a new province and I don't know many people here. Hi Girls, I can start. This is the cake topper I have ordered. I got it form Etsy from seller awesometoppers. She is customizing it with my Fiances favorite game "Doom." his favorite beer and also I am getting her to put a duplicate of our dog on there. I can't wait to get it. I think everyone will be amazed. Sorry for those that don't have 150 posts yet, but I don't know how to just post the picture on this board. I can only see the choice of the attachment.

ok thanks good to know. I have contacted the WC already but have yet to hear back. That was two weeks ago. I am in no rush because we are still a little under a year away. But I did want to mention to them about a cocktail hour that I wanted in between the ceremony time and the time La Barcaza starts. Just to give guests something to do all together while they are waiting if they so wish. We will be taking pictures with guests anyway but while myself and my fiancé are taking pictures it would be nice to have a cocktail hour. I have a specific time that I want though so I contacted them to see if I could get that time and where I could have it.

Well everyone, This site has been my go to for anything wedding related. So I figured you all could help me with this also. How long before your wedding do you actually co-ordinate your wedding details with the resort, Carribbean Celebrations (using them to decorate the La Barcaza for my reception). I have no idea when I should start contacting these people to let them know what I want. The issue is I wouldn't know how much of certain things I would need because I won't know how many guests are coming yet.

Destination wedding girl. You wedding will last a week, not just the one day @@malyna

I wasn't planning on the oot bags either. I was just thinking of giving all of our guests a personalized tumbler and this way they could use this for their drinks on the resort and also bring it home with them. I was just thinking of that and then giving the wedding party something a little more.

I am not too far away from 150.

I have used tons of travel agents before I settled with just the one. It took a while but worth it in my opinion.
