Wow they sell out that quick and you are getting married well over a year away? Wow.

I have 27 people so far. 23 adults and 4 kids. They all booked with my travel agent so far. yay

Well girls, the verdict is in. I got weighed tonight and in my first week I lost 3.8 pounds. yippppeeeeee.

Oh god help me. I am getting married in April in DR and the ceremony is at 2pm. I tried to get later in the day but couldn't. I think I am going to suffer with heat.

I have my first weigh in tonight. I am nervous and anxious to see if I lost anything. I will let you girls know.

I am booked at Melia Caribe Tropical in DR. I chose it because the grounds look absouloutly beautiful and they over a family friendly plus there is a section there for adults only too. This was the best of both worlds for us because we originally wanted adults only but people in our family wanted to bring there kids. So if some people want, if they aren't bringing kids, they can stay in the adults only section. I have never been to this resort or have never been to DR, but I did a lot of research and this one came up with a lot of the things I was looking for and the price was lower than a lot of others I have researched. Have a look and let me know what you think of it.

My Wedding group is booked with Air Transat. I have never flown with them before but I picked them because they were the better price.

The dress looks awesome on you. Both of them do but I prefer the first one.

@@acw271011, I was actually wondering the same thing. One of my guests said they will book using their own travel agent but will request to be in my group. I didn't question it because I didn't think it was possible. This person hasn't booked yet so I don't know if it can be done or not. That's a very good question. I would really like to know this answer. If any Canadian brides can offer some insight on this it would be greatly appreciated.

@@TinkerSofi @@tygrrlily I had emailed Lorilee back and let her know that we are sticking with our own travel agent. I discussed this with my FI and he says we should stick with the same agent just because it's so close to our deposit deadline. People are in the middle of deposits and waiting to hear back from the TA and any other contact will probably confuse them all together. My FI also has intervened and is now taking over the whole booking process. He knows how stressed I am about all this. I stress myself over things out of my control as well, like people booking elsewhere. He has contacted everyone on his list and has notified them about it being in their best interest to book through our travel agent as a group. He also is gathering everyone's information in order to deposit, under Lily's recommendation. Thanks Lily. He has been doing a good job of it so far. I feel less stressed now that he has pretty much gotten involved with this booking business. It's hard when you are trying to control the whole situation and what everyone is doing. I felt a lot of stress too because everyone is coming to me complaining about the travel agent not returning their calls in a reasonable time. Now they are complaining to him as well...lol He even has a spreadsheet done up of everyone's information. I think it's ridiculous that we have to do this but again it seems like it will avoid delays more so than back and forth emails from the guests and travel agent getting this info before they even deposit. With Air Transat, we needed 5 rooms booked (10 adults) in order to keep our group rate. Right now we have that. I am hoping others will book with our TA but like my FI said, it's out of our control if they don't. It's their decision when it comes down to it. Lily, can I ask how much your Edmonton guests are paying for their land only and travel separate? The agent gave me a quote today and it seems expensive right now. I don't know if I should wait or not? My FI and I are one of the couples leaving from Edmonton and we have the land only booked so far. I don't know if it's safe to wait another month or just go ahead and book it through the TA or wait and book our own flights. The thing is about land only though is that airport transfers aren't included. Thank you everyone for your advice and concerns. This has def. not been an easy one but I am hoping everything will be ok once I know who has booked through our travel agent and that everyone has been contacted about their deposits. I actually just went on her website and found her email and I just emailed her the main questions about what would happen since I have already a booking through Air Transat through this company? I didn't want to bombard her with too many questions. Just the general run down of what I am asking for now.

What would happen if I did that in regards to everyone's deposits? is Laurielee based in Canada? Can they just transfer my file and booking number with Air Transat to another company? This is how it works apparently. I didn't sign a contract with Air Transat, instead when I asked about it they said that particular travel agent/agency signs the agreement with the supplier itself. What would happen in this case? Do you have an email for her? I can email her first and check it out and see what she says. I am at work right now and don't want to use the phone for that purpose...lol

It's so funny how you girls mention that. My travel agent left the had to leave the Country for a couple of months only last week. Anyway she said she will still dealing with people that email and also left me with another contact for people that would want to call for deposits. Well this other person is the manager. Last night I emailed both of them and let them know how unhappy I was and the guests because no one can reach them. Since my travel agent left last week, I had 4 people try to call the "replacement/manager" and they still have yet to book. So I really don't know where else to turn. My travel agent responded back to my email giving me a list of reasons of what has been going on with each of the people I mentioned. The manager did not respond to that email. I emailed both of them this morning in regards to one of my guests trying to reach them. The manager emailed me back in all caps and said I did call him back and I left a voicemail. This just feels like a nightmare all around.

It is basically the service. They just aren't responding to people in time, One of my guests called yesterday as a single occupant and said he was rooming with the other single occupant that has already paid her deposit but then they said they didn't have her information. Also she is trying to help one of my guests by getting her a rate because she won't be part of the group anyway because she is leaving at a different time. Anyway this girl is getting impatient because she has been waiting a month for this information and still hasn't received it. She is one of the ones that are pulling out and going somewhere else. it's just things that like. I am also not getting regular updates of who has booked. I find myself having to email all the time for updates because I want to keep up on who has booked so far. I find sticking with her is my only option at this point because she has all the info on who has booked so far. If I ask to get transferred to someone else in this company then there will probably be information that is missed and it will get confusing to guests having to contact someone else too. I wish this part was over with.

I have some people wanting to book with their own travel agent because basically mine is not helpful at all. My question is how does this effect me besides the numbers I need for the group rate? Do the hotel's charge a fee because people are getting booked outside the group. I know I have to contact the resort once everyone is booked to give them their booking reference number or something. People that aren't with my booking reference number, do I have to pay extra for them to attend my ceremony and wedding things? I appreciate the help.

I am get parents gifts. I just figure that before my FI came into my life my parents are the only people I could really rely on and have been there for me with everything.

Well girls day one of weight watchers today. I will update every week when I get weighed in and let you know how much I lost or gained (hopefully not gained though). The meeting went well. Got a lot of stuff. I packed up my big bottle of water this morning, pineapple, grapes, and my weight watchers lunch. So far so good. If there is anyone else on a weight watchers plan, feel free to post your accomplishments every week.

I have Kristy Ann booked for my wedding APril 17, 2015. Apparently she books up fast so I made sure to book her a month or so ago. So happy I booked her when I did.

Yeah me too. I totally wish this part was over too. I am just waiting now for July 4th to come around so that I have some numbers to work with. What's done is done at that point when it comes to booking. This is definitely the most stressful part for me.

is it travel issue you are dealing with. I know all too well what that's like. Some days I feel like throwing in the towel and just eloping...lol. We are all here for you whatever the issue if you need any advice on what to do. All the ladies on here, as you know, are amazing. I wouldn't have made it this far without some sort of breakdown if it wasn't for this forum.

I am having the same issue. I have one person book with her personal travel agent and another person is thinking about doing so as well. I like everything to be organized. My travel agent told me that if these people book elsewhere to make sure to send their names and their booking reference number to the resort once you send them the list of names.

Hey @@FutureMrsGlover I guess there are a few people that are thinking. I honestly didn't think of that brilliant idea. I wish I had and maybe I wouldn't have this problem and everyone would probably be booked by now. My deadline is only a couple weeks away....eeeeeeek

HI @@ASAtobe Thanks and yeah it sucks. But now with the two travel agents I am hoping that communication will be better. Guests should be able to get a hold of one or the other in reasonable time. I haven't had much luck with this booking process since it started to be honest. I just can't wait for July 4th to be over with because that's when the deposit deadline is. At least what's booked is booked at that point and no more stressing over that part anyway.
