  1. That's awesome @@Sabes44. That's when you can then start ordering some stuff you want for your guests. I basically didn't do anything until I had the final numbers. There still may be people I guess not able to go last minute. But I expect that anyways. I will just have some extras probably if this happens. but better to have a little extra than not enough. Everything I ordered, I made sure to order a couple extras just in case people decide that they can go all of a sudden too. You just never know even though we have final numbers, those numbers will most likely either go up or down.
  2. Those are great ideas @@kmk2016. I am going to do kids bags up as well. Just dollar store items to fill them like crayons and coloring books just in case for raining days. Some beach toys but nothing too big because I don't want that taking up too much room...lol Just enough to give them something as well in a bag. I am also giving them cups as well. They are smaller kids, toddlers, so I might just buy sippy cups at the dollar store or something. Oh did I mention I love the dollar store...lol
  3. I have final numbers. I based this on people who have put their deposits down. the deadline was a week ago. And then I contacted those that didn't send in deposits to see if they are going but just booking on their own. So I got some numbers that way too. I didn't do the RSVP thing. So basically I know though who is going who is booked and who is not. So my total is 37 people.
  4. Actually they were a little under $7 a bag. I got one for the mother of the groom and mother of the bride too.
  5. hahaha @@pddcmc oh yeah I forgot about your wedding being on the same day as mine. We are down to 9 months today girl. Eeeeek. I called about my dress too yesterday and they said it will be in around the last 2 weeks of Sept. I can't wait to get it. Yeah I think the cups are great because I believe they will become useful to our guests. I ordered the cups on discountmugs and then I ordered waterproof stickers with davetdesigns I do believe on Etsy. I can't wait to receive them both. You should have a look @@Sabes44 if this is something you would be planning.
  6. I ordered mine on weddingchicks when they had a sale on them about a week ago. I used the promo code that they gave and it brought the purchase down a nice bit. I think it ended up to be about $7 a bag which is better than $10. Anything helps hey ladies? Keep your eyes open on those promo codes they offer.
  7. I think under the circumstances, it was a good decision you made. At least this will give you time to spend with family/friends/FI and have no wedding planning pressure. And I agree with the girls. Lay everything out on the table to your FI. Whatever is meant to be will happen.
  8. @@pddcmc I hear ya. I am glad I am not doing the dinner menus or programs. At least this cuts down money and if I were to do them myself it cuts down time. I got a good deal on bags for the guests and I am also giving them a drinking cup to go in it. I don't know what else I will put in it but not going to be very much. I might put the fans in them just to take up some space. But if I do get/find anything else to put in them I am going to the dollar store. It won't be very much going in them besides the drinking cups. I feel a bag, drinking cup, and fan will be just fine. Too much and they probably won't use it anyway like you said. That is all I plan on doing.
  9. Thanks ladies for all your help. I guess I feel like things like OOT bags, fans and whatever for the guests would be appreciated by the guests as they feel like they are getting a little something back for the amount of money they are spending to attend. I wanted to get these little things mainly because I feel like I should be giving something to my guests to show appreciation that they are taking the time off work, spending their hard earned money, and just are going to be there for my FI and I. This is all I plan to do. I am leaving out the programs and menus. I am also not doing the information book/broucher and luggage tags that most people send out before departure. The main things that are costing the money and I feel like we want are: Of course the travel (and we are paying for my parents) photography wedding reception on La Barcaza cocktail hour between the ceremony and reception my wedding dress (including alterations) which will be over budget because I went $200 over budget on the dress Oh well as long as I have these main things then I am ok with it. I guess if I keep it to how I want then I will be fine. All you ladies have such great ideas on different things and sometimes I feel like maybe I should do that too. But have to stick to what I originally planned in my mind. I don't mind going a little over budget to have the day that we both want. oh I forgot to mention gifts for the groomsman and bridesmaids.
  10. Well for me: Date night is a trip to Walmart to get milk. A glass of wine takes 3 days to recover from. My favorite show to watch over and over is Golden Girls. haha I laugh it all off though. If I could party big like I did in my 20's I should probably worry...lol I love my life right now. Wouldn't change a thing.
  11. Hi there girls, Well it feels like my idea of a destination "cost effective" wedding has gone down the tubes. It seems to me that this is getting pretty pricey. I originally had a budget of $15,000 and that's with our flights cost and with our parents flights cost with everything. They couldn't afford to go on a trip so myself and fiancé offered to pay because we really want them there...of course. I think I didn't know what was actually involved until I started all this planning. It seems I still have a lot to get and a lot more money to spend. Trying to keep the costs low is very hard, especially when I didn't consider things at the beginning like favors, gifts for the bridal party, fans for the ceremony..etc. I know I don't have to have a lot of things like the fans and stuff but I felt they were probably needed because of the guests staying in the warmth and watching us get married. I still have only paid the deposit on my dress. I need to pay in full once it arrives. Then it's the alterations which are costly. I thought of all the big things at first but none of the simpler details. I don't want a whole lot of decoration for the ceremony because it's going to be held in the garden gazebo and didn't feel a whole lot of decorations were needed. Then I am having a reception on the wedding boat which I only plan on having centerpieces on each table, table clothes, and some lighting. that's it nothing big. I am feeling really overwhelmed with cost. it feels like I even lost track of cost now because of things I purchase online for the wedding. I have gotten a lot of great ideas here on the forum for different websites for certain things and great pricing. But it all adds up. I think I am def. going to be over budget. The good thing is I had $12,000 saved to begin with and just was going to use the rest on credit. My $12,000 is now down to $8000 because of deposits and also the flights. I think I am going to be over budget. I didn't even think of things like programs and menus and stuff that I have seen girls making on here. I don't think I am going to go with that. It's just going to end up costing more money. Keep it simple was what I planned in the beginning. Any of you girls going through this?
  12. I vote for the second one. You made 2 good picks here but the second one I think looks more fitting to your body. Second one fits like a glove. It's gorgeous
  13. Got my mugs ordered from discountmugs and my stickers are on the way. As soon as I get them both I will have to take a picture and post it. Can't wait to get them.
  14. Yeah I ordered something before and it stated free shipping and when it arrived they didn't charge me. The seller warned me that I may be charged but I was glad I didn't. Hopefully this will be the case with this purchase. One can only hope hey?
  15. I only need 40 mugs/tumblers. Will they place an order of this much? I am going to have a look at their website anyway. I went further into that Amazon seller and it doesn't ship to where I am. So I will check out the discountmugs.com wow you girls are awesome. I just went browsing on that site and I have 40 tumblers in the basket ready to purchase and the price is really good. Came to$86.00. What size do you think? 16oz? and shipping is $87.00. Shipping is killing us here in Canada Whoo hooo I just went and purchased 40 of them at the $86.00 and we I finalized my ordered it doesn't look like they charged for shipping.
  16. HI Girls, I thought I would give out tumblers for each OOT bag. But I am not having much luck in finding them. I am looking for clear tumblers which the dollar tree did have but they seem to be all out and I went to three Dollar Tree Stores in Edmonton to find them and they didn't have any left. I don't want to spend a whole lot of money on them but I really need to get these now. I have already ordered waterproof stickers to go on them and I should have those next week. I did end up finding some in bulk on Amazon. For a bulk lot of 48 they are charging $128.99 and they are including free shipping with this. What do you think? The seller is Paraqraft if any of you are interested.
  17. You are so sweet Lily but yeah I think shipping might be crazy especially shipping like 36 of them...lol Thanks though. Another unrelated question. Well it's all wedding related I guess but I think I went in over my head thinking I could make my own bouquets and the girls bouquets. But for some reason the one's I already bought for myself I don't like anymore. My main wedding colour is Coral and the flowers don't actually match now. Urgh. And also I bought flowers today for the bridesmaid bouquets and I don't like them now either. I should have just got them made. It's hard finding any coral flowers for starters and also, I am no good at all for matching flowers and colours together to make them look nice. What did you do? @@tygrrlily
  18. @@tygrrlily I seen those ones at Dollarama and of course my luck they only had 3 left in the store of the clear ones. And of the three that were there, they were all scratched up. I don't know where else to look so that I am not spending a fortune on them.
  19. for sure. check it out and see what kind of deals you can get. I love getting a deal when I can.
  20. I love it @@tygrrlily I have no problem tracking points. They have an app. that you can download as well which makes it easier than just writing it all down. I am never hungry because your fruits and veggies are 0 points with the new points plus system they have. Everything else might be a little bit more in points than the older system buts that because the fruits and veggies are 0 points now. I find if I feel like snacking I will chose a fruit or vegetable. On this system if you use your daily points limit than you will do good. THey give you an extra 49 points per week on top of what's already given to you for your daily points. So I use that and have a treat day. I picked Saturday for my treat day to go have what I want. Last week it was Burger King. You don't have to use these points every week but they basically created this so people can have treats. If you are allowed this and have the treats you are more likely to stick with it. I find it pretty awesome. @@acw271011 That's great though you are sticking with it. That's all part of it. Don't compare yourself to you hubby though because I did that and I get mad hahaha why do you lose so much ahead of me. urgh...hahaha But we do what we can. I am prepared to notice not every week I will lose. I may end up gaining a pound here or there if I have a bad week. But as long as I keep at it then I should be fine. I am also hoping to lose 2 dress sizes. That's my goal for now anyway. Keep up the good work.
  21. Hey girls, Most of you probably have checked out this site but you can try: www.aliexpress.com They have everything on there wedding and non wedding related or even if you wanted to purchase any gifts. Just thought I would throw this out there just in case you haven't checked it out yet. Not sure what the quality of these things are. I have ordered only a couple items from here non wedding related and it didn't seem too bad especially for the price you are paying. Most items have free shipping also.
  22. well girls I had another good weigh in. Tonight was my third weigh in and all together I have lost 7.2 pounds.
  23. Thanks. It's just the practice one because I am trying to figure out how to stop the ends of the bigger flower from fraying. I have tried fabric glue which stains it, I have tried clear nail polish which also stains it, I have tried hairspray too which so far seems to be working. I have that flower just sitting at home to see if it will stain. I am hoping it doesn't because I am running out of options. I want to make a few more practice flowers with some crappy material before I do my last flower with that silk material.
  24. Wow $40 that's awesome. I was on Ebay looking but didn't see many floral bridal sash's.
  25. update******went to two dollar tree stores in Edmonton this weekend past and they had no clear tumblers there...eeeeeek. I will probably have to end up getting them at Walmart or something. Not sure if even they have clear ones. I really don't want the colored ones at Dollar Tree because they are just too bright and the sticker won't hardly be seen on those.
