Anyone Else Overwhelmed With Cost?
kcole123 replied to kcole123's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
@@beckys98 My FI had the same issue at first. He couldn't understand why they were so expensive. He also suggested the same thing, to buy a nice camera or get someone with a nice camera to take the pictures. He thinks pictures were going to cost like $200. I laughed and tried to tell him different but he figured I should shop around to get the lowest price. I told him that most photographers will charge roughly the same. They are out to make the money if they are good at what they do. We are paying for a service and that industry isn't cheap if you want good pictures. As soon as they find out it's a wedding for anything boom we are paying more it seems. My friend got married recently and he asked her how much she paid for photography and she said around $2500 and he told her she was crazy. She said that she shopped around and when she found someone that was cheap, then their pictures weren't that good when she checked online. So you get what you paid for basically. Then he kind of understood then. Although he still thinks it's ridiculous what they charge. @@tygrrlily, My FI basically wants a good party too. He wants to make sure that this is going to be a good time for everyone. He just doesn't think it should involve giving our guests favors and things...haha just booze and party. -
Anyone Else Overwhelmed With Cost?

He is one of a kind that's for sure. It took him while to understand I was getting people wedding favors. He said "what are wedding favors and why do we need them?" I said "you have been to a wedding before Nathan and they have had wedding favors." He said "no" I never got any. I said "cause you probably left it there and didn't take it with you." He said "see they must not be that important."haha -

I am sooo glad I am not along on this. It's true what you girls are saying. that it will cost much more to have it at home. Because instead of 40 people going to the wedding which is roughly what I am having at the destination wedding, we would probably have around 200. And paying for 200 meals, favors, décor for a bigger place, and all other things would be much more expensive to have it at home. It eases my mind a little knowing that I am not the only person thinking this. I am trying to keep it simple and my main plan is to minimize the décor. I really can't wait for this day. My FI says "screw it Kristy, we are getting what we want and it's going to be great." He says "I want us and our guests to have a great time. And he says we won't regret a thing." -
@@NJBride2014 My fiancé is the same. He has a little collection of watches and loves them. I was going to do that but he ended up ordering himself a watch along with the groomsmen's watches he is getting them. Urgh.

Wow you have a lot included with your wedding package. Actually I get a bouquet and a boutonniere that comes with the package with the resort. I will use these and maybe I will just have the bridesmaids flowers ordered from them too and the groomsmen boutonniere's. At least it cuts down on packaging this stuff up to bring down and also less hassle for me to make them. I will end up returning the flowers I bought at Michael's last week. At least get my money back. I forgot about the bridal bouquet included with the package so I am going to lose out on the money I paid for flowers for that because I bought them a couple of months ago and don't even have the receipt for that. Kills me knowing I wasted that money but I can't find nice coral flowers anyway and the ones I have don't really go good.

Oh ok thanks for that app suggestion. I will have to look that up for sure.

I haven't tried measurements at all. I kind of didn't do any measurements from the beginning so I wouldn't know if I lost any I should have though I didn't think of that. We do weigh in the same time every week. I probably do understand the 0.6 weight gain though. it's that time of the month so maybe that has a lot to do with it besides feeling crappy...lol

Anyone Else Overwhelmed With Cost?

Yeah exactly. Well just get the parents something that are going to the wedding to be there for you and your fiancé. You can always give your parents just a frame later with your wedding picture in it if you didn't want to get them something at the wedding seeing how they aren't attending. -
What was the gift you were going to get him? I was thinking something like a watch because my FI is a big watch fan. But of course when he ordered the groomsmen's gifts, which are watches, he ordered one for himself. So I don't want to give him something that he is getting his groomsmen the same thing. Another thing I thought of and I might do is a boudoir session book for just him from me. Soemthing on the cover saying "for Nathan's eye's only." I have seen that on this site. I think that's something he would really love. He always points out that I wear fuzzy pink pj's to bed hahaha so this would really through him off guard.

Good question. I was debating this too but then thought it would be nice to give them a little something. Nothing too expensive of course because we are paying for my parents to go because they simply can't afford it themselves. Is your mom still attending your wedding. Maybe give them a little something between your parents and then a little something between your FI's parents. My FI ruined this for me...haha he is getting his groomsmen watches and paying for these himself and of course he said he wants to get the dad's watches too. So now I am thinking of getting the mothers some sort of bracelet or necklace or something. Nothing too fancy but something they can wear again and not feel overdone. My mom is not someone to even wear makeup. Lipstick is the extent of her makeup collection..lol I did plan on doing something between my parents and then something between Nathan's parents but that's gone down the tubes now. But that's a suggestion if you didn't want to spend a whole lot. Get like a personalized picture frame or something so they can put your wedding picture in. -
Hey @@candle23 I am wondering the same thing. I bought my dress at The Bridal House in Edmonton and I am waiting for my dress to arrive hopefully late Sept they said. So I am going to see what they quote me for alterations and if it's too much then I will probably shop around. Thing is I don't know of any in Edmonton and not from there. So to google that information will just be like taking a chance and hoping for the best. If you find out anything let me know

Need Your Opinion On My Oot Bag
kcole123 replied to trbutler's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
hmmmm well it depends if you are willing to sacrifice spending a little more, not having the things that the first bag has all for the sake of it's color? If it was me and It would end up cheaper, I would get the navy blue bag. I don't have everything necessarily matching perfectly with my wedding. I have coral in my wedding and there are plenty of different colored corals that I didn't realize until I was planning and buying things coral. Go with your gut on this one I would say. -

Oh yes. That's why I am keeping decorations to a minimal. The ceremony is going to be set up in the garden gazebo and I chose this because it's surrounded by flowers anyway. I think it looks beautiful just the way it is. Then my reception is on the La Barcaza wedding boat. Less formal which is what we both like. It's more of a relaxed feel and felt like it would be fun for us and our guests. Their pricing for meals on the boat also comes with a DJ which is what I am happy about. The only décor I am having on the boat is table cloths with simple center pieces and some lighting. The fun autmosphere and little boat adventure was what I was mainly going for. -

I 100% understand @@MissJen3 It can get overwhelming with what you can buy. But my wedding I still want to keep simple. I am just having to cut out some of the less important things and keep mainly what I want. I think everything I have now and ordered are enough of what I need for guests. I just need to order gifts for the bridesmaids (which I totally don't know what I am getting yet). Then I am just needing accessories for myself for my dress. I don't need that much. I am making my own flower sash for my dress. And seeing how I am making that just as well to make my flower for my hair too. My mom bought me a beautiful pearl set with earring. So all I need really is a good bra, shoes, and that's pretty much it. -
Need Your Opinion On My Oot Bag
kcole123 replied to trbutler's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
wow I love both of those bags. The first bag really caught my eye. And no it would not look odd because you won't even notice as long as it's a dark navy blue. Some navy blue's and black look somewhat similar anyway. I bet no one will even notice it. -

I ordered just the clear tumblers with the straws. they came to like $2.16 each. I ordered 40 of them. I ordered clear because the stickers I ordered are coral with white lettering. I didn't want any colored tumblers to clash with them. So I figured that will look good. Don't worry as soon as I have them both I am posting a pic of them. @@pddcmc -
Well Are you going with hair up or down? Heat might be a deciding factor. and you want to show off the second dress by having your hair up. for me I am having hair up because mainly of the heat. I don't want my hair to end up with a big tangled blob on the back of my neck...lol Flower or veil? If you want to keep it simple, go with either a birdcage veil or flower. I love both Sash on dress or no sash? You can do earrings and leave out the necklace so that way it suits both dresses. And you have a bracelet so that would be just perfect. You have your shoes which are pretty awesome by the way. I am going to get wedge shoes too. And those ones you have are lovely. I was thinking maybe Tom's wedges but yours look prettier. Let us know what you decide. Mainly go with your style and what you like. This are just my opinions and what I like...lol

Latest update was weighed last night and gained 0.6 pounds. Not much but must keep going at this weight loss.

I have not checked amazon. I know with shipping to Canada can be a bit expensive so I am trying to buy some things local if I can. I will have to probably check into the resort and see what they offer and their pricing. My colors are ivory, Coral, and a little bit of grey (just because my FI is wearing grey and groomsmen). I wasn't overly particular on color and things may end up miss matched but my main color I wanted was coral. So I guess coral and ivory flowers is what I am wanting.
-
Yes everyone's ideas are great. Question though did you purchase your bouquets. Are you making your own? I am having coral in my wedding but I find it hard to find any coral flowers for cheap and that don't look cheap. I have tried Michael's (which is were I get all my crafty things) and they don't have any yet. Or maybe they don't sell them at all. I am having lots of troubles finding any. And ordering them or getting them made are so expensive. Any ideas @@Sabes44

Everything looks great. Everyone on this site is so creative. Thank god I have you girls on here for inspiration or my wedding would be pretty boring to people.....hahaha I have to say all my ideas come from here. and they aren't even my ideas they are everyone else's ideas. But my guests don't have to know that...haha I am planning on not shipping anything either @@Sabes44. My FI and I plan on taking 2 suitcases each and a carry on. The carry on will hold things like jewelary for the wedding and the watches my FI purchases for his groomsmen. We will have one suitcase each for our daily attire there and the second one will hopefully fit all wedding things. The only things I am bringing wedding related is the fans, OOT bags, my bouquets(which I am hoping to make myself), and the cups for the guests. I am hoping this will fit in the suitcases. My dress I guess will be my carry on.
