  3. Hello GTA brides! Nice to see a thread dedicated to us I live in Whitby and am getting married at the NOW Sapphire in the Mayan Riviera on April 23, 2014 ... one month tomorrow!
  4. Tammy, thank you so much for the webinar. It was really, really helpful and \i feel so much better about my wedding next month at NOW Sapphire. Tomorrow marks 4 weeks Tammy, are there any Mayan florists you would recommend? The NOW Sapphire flower prices are really expensive and we are hoping to save some money without sacrificing the look and beauty of our wedding day. Any recommendations you could make or any feedback you could give would be greatly appreciated.
  5. I just submitted my form yesterday. It felt so good! We decided to extend our reception by 2 hours. We were debating on whether to do this, since it is $15US per person/per hour + taxes + fees (which we feel is extreme since it's an all-inclusive resort), but we decided that we wouldn't be ready for our special night to come to a close by 10 or 11pm, so we just bit the bullet and did it. I am hoping we will find savings elsewhere. What are you ladies planning on doing for flowers? Are you going with the resort? Or an outside vendor? I have received a few quotes from outside vendors and the prices are so much less and the quality of the work seems the same or maybe even better. Hmmmmm
  6. We don't have kids, but have a lot of guests who will be bringing theirs. They are making sure to bring lots of snacks from home, just in case their children are fussy, and also bringing bottles of water to mix formula ... just to be safe.
  7. unfortunately I cannot open the attachments because I don't have enough points
  8. thanks for this post. I am really considering floresjulieta. decisions, decisions
  9. Do you have nay photos of the flowers Flores Julieta provided to you? I am considering her for our wedding
  10. Gorgeous! Hydrangeas are my favourite flower. Anyone know if you can get them in Mexico?
  11. I have been working with tripcentral.ca and have been really pleased with the service I have been receiving
  12. I'm also getting married at NOW Sapphire as well ... good choice Another option could be to research key Spanish phrases and do your own Spanish for Dummies
  13. thanks for the post - very helpful
  14. All of the seafood options looks amazing, but we have quite a few non-seafood-eaters coming with us. That's why I'm wondering about the seafood in the chicken. We also have a few vegetarians coming and I think we will just do a vegetarian lasagna or something along those lines. We are getting married on the tequila beach and having our cocktail hour + reception on the tequila terrace. How about you @vanessav53? And when is your big day?
  15. I have found that communication has gotten a lot better as my wedding date nears. At one point I was waiting 1 - 2 months for an answer. Now it seems like every 4 - 5 days. Sometimes 1 - 2. I am going with the Spa for my hair & make-up. I guess it really depends how good your Mom is. If you think she can make your ideal look happen, I would say go with your Mom. I can't believe it either! It feels like it went from 8 months to 1 month in a blink of an eye! So excited!! I was told by Anel that we could mix & match dinner menus between Divine and Eternity. We are getting the Divine package, so I'm not sure if that's the reason we are able to, but I don't see why you wouldn't be able to if you were willing to pay the difference. What are you choosing for your menu options? Does anyone know what seafood the chicken supreme is stuffed with?
  16. I just got confirmation from my TA that I don't need any paperwork for a symbolic ceremony. Hallelujah! I guess she was confused. However, she checked with Anel and I am in the clear. Crisis averted
  17. Thanks so much for putting my mind at ease, ladies! That's what I thought as well. Phewf!
  18. Ladies, I am kinda freaking out right now!! We were under the impression that no paperwork was needed from our home country in order to do a symbolic ceremony in Mexico, but our TA is saying something different. I even see in the wedding guide that it says: SYMBOLIC OR NON DENOMINATIONAL This ceremony focuses on love, marriage, family and society. Mexican law does not consider this ceremony legally valid. No documentation or blood tests are required. RELIGIOUS CEREMONY This ceremony is performed by a minister and focuses on God, love and family in a Christian perspective. Although many people consider this fundamental, Mexican law does not consider this ceremony legally valid. No documentation or blood tests are required. Do you guys know if I will have to bring a marriage license from Canada with me in order to get married in Mexico? I really don't think so, but would love you to put my mind at ease Thank you soooooo much!
  19. @@DinaQtobe, you are absolutely right. The cocktail reception is just one element of the wedding ... and the whole trip. There are so many other wonderful things NOW Sapphire has to offer, which is why we all chose this resort. Thank you for the reminder and the reassurance that everything is going to be perfect, even if it doesn't go 100% according to plan. A few questions for past NOW Sapphire brides ... 1) If you used your soloist for your ceremony, did they play while you walked down the aisle? And if so, did you tell them the songs in advance? 2) If we are going to use the soloist for our ceremony, will they still set-up speakers for the vows, etc.? And if so, would we be able to use those same speakers for the cocktail reception? Do you think they would charge for this? 3) If you used an iPod for your ceremony music, who operated it?
  20. Thanks for the info re: what other resorts charge @@vanessav53. That puts a few things into perspective. However, I still really hope that they will allow me to use my solist for the cocktail reception. Fingers crossed. For any Canadian brides out there who are looking to do OOT bags, Dollarama has quite a few plastic tumblers that are really nice and only $2 each. We chose mason jar looking ones with handles (kind of like a mug) that normally retail for $8 - $12 each. We are planning on giving these as part of our welcome bags, which will also have an itinerary, door hanger, a hangover kit, and a couple of other things we are still deciding on. The have a number of designs for regular tumblers, but the mason jar mugs either have blue screw on lids and straws or pink ones. We're hoping people use these for the pool bar or their beach drinks. However, this is also something I think/hope they will bring home and use. And every time they do, hopefully they will enjoy sipping that drink and reminiscing about their trip Here's an idea of what a similar mug looks like (the ones we got have a translucent lid and no writing, just a mason jar like design):
