  1. I believe she sent the planning document to me already. If my memory serves me correctly, she highlighted not to turn it in until 4 weeks before the wedding. Do you need it? I see what you mean about STDs. If you already have guest communicating with you TA there really is no need. As for invitations, we are doing passports. There was a bride on here a few years back who has since started a business doing passport invitations. We will be using her. You are lucky to have a friend that can assist you with your invitations. That's pretty awesome!
  2. Oh no, you leave the day we arrive. We went with the Eternity package as well. Couldn't justify the cost for the larger package. We are however upgrading our reception dinner option the one of the Devine options. I have a quote from Isela for $5 per person...not bad at all. What type of invitations are you doing? We are preparing to send out Save the Dates within the next two weeks. Welcome and congratulations to you as well! Where are you in your planning stage?
  3. We ended up doing a room block of 12 with our TA Teresa at Vacations 4 Less. We paid a deposit for each room that we will be credited back to us once people pay their deposits.
  4. Don't you just hate that part of the planning process?!? We just released our prices and EVERYONE says they're going. We'll see...lol. We have decided not to send RSVP cards with our invitations for that reason. Their RSVP will be their reservation number from our TA. This way we'll have closer to an exact number and don't waste money on OOT bags and other extras because people sent back a RSVP card but never booked their trip.
  5. I'm getting married May 30, 2015 too! In Cancun though. There is a "May 2015" thread for us to share ideas. Check it out if you're interested!
  6. We are in a similar situation. I contacted Paradise Catamaran to see if they were handicap accessible since they seem to have the most reasonable price for a group of 40 people. They can accommodate several wheelchairs if needed. They also escort individuals to their seat if needed. Hope this information helps!
  7. Our guest are staying a minimum of three nights. Our room block is for 5 nights though. Prices start at $366/per person for a tropical view room. Ocean view is $50 more for three nights. Airfare is separate and isn't available as of this date.
  8. We considered March and April as well. As previously mentioned, that's considered high season for Cancun. We went with May and saved a couple hundred bucks. I would ask for quotes for May and June or November and December. I suppose hurricane season months would be cheaper as well.
  9. Our budget is $10,000 for 40 guests and a surprised catamaran cruise. We are saving money because we aren't utilizing the services of a DJ for our reception or extending it for an additional hour. We are having a long table set up for our "first family dinner". We will use our iPad and sound system for background music. We have no wedding party so we don't have to buy gifts for them or provide bouquets and bouts. We are using the photographer included in our wedding package. We have booked an underwater TTD session and those will be our official wedding photos. So far our Excel budget sheet has us sitting around $9,500.
  10. Bump! Any recent brides with waterproof makeup suggestions?
  11. Another Now Jade bride! Yay! We are arriving May 28th. What locations are you using? We are getting married at the Pergola...Mix Bar for cocktail hour...Carnival Terrace for our reception. I haven't even thought about a dress yet. We are working on save the dates and securing all our deposits. After all that is done then I can focus on a dress...lol
  12. Great questions! Based on information from past brides, the dress was fine after dry cleaning. As far as being dry enough to travel home, I would suggest booking the session a few days before departing. As for make up and hair...I'm not so sure yet.
  13. How many weddings does Now Jade have a day? Any other 05/30/15 brides? I just noticed the date is booked on the website
  14. How is everyone coming along with staying within the $7,000 budget? We're getting married at Now Jade May 2015. So far we've only put down a deposit for the resort and a TTD session. We are going with the photographer included in the package for the standard wedding shots. Our official wedding photos will be our underwater TTD pic. We are all about being different. That will be a wow factor for our guest after everything is said and done. Oh, we also checked out GroupOn for an engagement photo session. We scored one for $40 (worth over $200) so that saved us a few bucks as far as the budget is concerned. In what ways are you ladies (and gents) saving?
  15. Where should I buy fabric to drape the Pergola? What type of fabric?
  16. I'm happy to see another May 2015 bride. You will be a busy bee with all your planning. I'm familiar with Hindu wedding ceremonies. We are still up in the air in regards to an AHR. We're leaning towards using that $$$ towards buying a house. We'll see...
  17. When doing your room block, how many rooms in each category did you reserve? Any strategic moves to maximize the free 6th room for every 5 booked? We're only doing 10. We're thinking of blocking 6 in the room category we're actually staying in, 2 in a category below...2 in category above our room.
  18. I wanted to let everyone know that new prices are out for the Eternity ($2799) and Devine ($3299) packages. They went up $300 for 2015 and 2016 weddings that haven't paid a deposit yet. We were one day too late Oh well, what can you do.
