It looks like Le Chateau is the place to go! They had three different options for khaki coloured linen. If anyone is planning to wait to get the groomsmen outfits, the sales person said they usually only carry them in store until August when the fall stuff arrives, so if you want to try them on, now is the time!

Hi, @@nicolesal. I'm getting frustrated with Linda as well, I was told that we would get a coordinator 6 months before. I was sent the form to fill out with my choices, but I can't get them to answer my question about which restaurants are in the Coba resort. Posts here said that Portofino was in Coba, but it wasn't one of the options she sent me, so I'm stuck waiting another month before I can ask a coordinator.

@@nicolesal @@DonnaandDaz I'm booked for November 11th. The email I got was in broken english, but I asked whether the Akumal site had been painted white and they said "Yes has been change and we are sure that will change too for November... we will try to do something similar to the beach front in Tulum"

Oh my god, they ruined the site. Why would they paint it white? It's not even a good paint job! I just spent months fighting with the resort to get this ceremony site. I chose this resort specifically for that site. And now it looks terrible! White fabric on a white arch? There's no contrast! How can I go back after months of fighting and tell them I don't want the site now because they ruined it?

Congrats! Glad it went so well! How did it work with the awning? Did they set you up in the sun and your guests under the awning so you didn't have the shade from the awning on you in the photos? I convinced them to let me use the Akumal Hammocks site for my ceremony because I don't want weird shadow patterns on all my photos.

Legal Marriage At Home
Maggietron replied to LauraM's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I'm starting to waffle on when to have the legal part in Canada. Originally, I thought that doing it before we leave for Mexico made the most sense, but now I'm starting to change my mind. I kind of feel like if we are legally married before the ceremony, then the ceremony might not feel as special, whereas if we do it afterwards, then we will get married in Mexico and register it in Canada afterwards. My fiance wants to do it before and then go back to work the day after we get home from Mexico. I want to take a couple extra days and maybe do the legal stuff before we head back to work. I'm also hoping that the resort will give us some sort of symbolic wedding licence that we can frame when we get back, then file the legal Canadian one with the other documents. -
To Invite Or Not To Invite?
Maggietron replied to jeffandrobyn's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
If you know she won't be able to come, then not sending an invitation serves no purpose except to spite her. Unless you are uninterested in being friends any longer, you should send the courtesy invite. -
Legal Marriage At Home

Sask has a website that lists available commissioners along with their contact info and there is a set rate for the service as well as a mileage rate for travel, although I assume that they are allowed to refuse to travel? -
Legal Marriage At Home

@@calgarybride2015 as far as I know, we can do it anywhere we want. My coworker had them come to his house, paused his video game, signed the paperwork, then went back to his game. Figuring out where to do it is the tough part. We don't want to do it at our basement apartment, but we don't want to make a big production out of it. I'm thinking maybe we'd invite his grandmother who can't come to the wedding over for lunch at either his parents or his sister's house and have the marriage commissioner drop by for a brief signing then. -
Legal Marriage At Home

Saskatchewan is a mess. You have to get your marriage licence from a jewellery store and then have a marriage commissioner come to you. I don't exactly want to get married in my basement apartment, so I'm not sure what to do there. My FSIL might not be able to come, maybe when we get home from the wedding or a couple days before we'll have the marriage commissioner come to her house and she and her husband can witness it? -
I went to three different TAs and directly to the airline as well. Air Canada quoted me $1550 per person, roughly. A local travel agency quoted me $1420 pp with westjet and $1550 for Air Canada. LaurieLee was able to get me $1519 pp with Air Canada, and $1321.53 pp with westjet and convince the resort to honour their initial email saying that I could get married at the beach site of another of the complex's resorts. It has definitely been worth it for me.

Her email is laurielee at tieronetravel.com and if you can use a read receipt, it's a good idea, she sometimes doesn't receive all the emails I send her from my gmail account.

For me it's more meaningful to have it symbolic, because instead of having a judge performing a ceremony in Spanish that I have no control over, I can have a loved one perform a customized ceremony in English.

I'm arriving saturday night, and I was originally scheduled for Thursday (symbolic), but I got them to reschedule me for Wed so I wouldn't spend the whole trip worrying about sunburns. Plus, now I'm getting married on Remembrance day, which is a holiday in my province, so we'll have the day off for our anniversary from now on!
