  1. @@iWeddingMexico thank you! Are you familiar with any reputable wedding planners who work with Beach Palace or just in the Cancun area? The beach palace coordinators are an absolute nightmare.
  2. Thought my list was fairly comprehensive... then I found yours. Thanks so much!!
  3. So I'm planning on leaving home Sunday to head to my DW resort. My wedding isn't until Friday. My Nails grow SO fast that it isn't an option to have my manicure done prior to leaving home. Although I've heard that Palace Resort spa/salonsare decent, I've seen some pretty negative reviews about their manicured/pedicures. Has anyone visited a salon in Cancun? I think there's one @ la isla mall of the hotel district but am having trouble confirming that. Or maybe I can get a day pass to another resort that has a reputable salon? Ideas? Thanks!
  4. Looking for advice from past brides or anyone who may have already booked vendors (hair, make-up, DJ, photography, decoration company, florist, etc.) - When did you book your vendors? My wedding is in May 1st in Cancun. Is it too soon to book?
  5. Congrats!! LOVE PLaya Mujeres! I got engaged there!
  6. My wedding is at Beach Palace in May of 2015. I've never been to the Playacar Palace, though I've heard good things (about all the Palace resorts, really). I have vacationed at Beach Palace and fell in love with the resort. Teresa told me that it is possible to add additional rooms to your block at any time, assuming the resort has availability. You don't pay a penalty for canceling a portion of your room block until 64 days prior to your travel date. So, it's probably best to over-estimate your room needs for now, and cancel rooms as you approach your wedding date. You have plenty of time!
  7. My wedding is not there but I did vacation at iberostar Punta Cana. It is GORGEOUS and the wildlife at the resort is amazing! My only complaints were that everything was musty - the AC didn't work good anywhere & The drinks were terrible - everything we saw made was either pre-mixed or mixed with thick sugary syrup - nothing fresh. Both minor details because everything else was perfect! I did not see any weddings in our week there - which I see as a positive (will be more of a special experience, rather than being one of 10 weddings on your day). Great resort choice!
  8. Hi @@TheBHolders ! I am also working with Teresa. However, I did shop around for TAs & also spoke with Palace Resorts directly about a room block.... Teresa offered the best deal and seemed the most knowledgeable. ALL of the options I investigated required a down payment in order to block the rooms. I would be shocked if palace is willing to block rooms for you without any kind of security deposit... This is what my contract entails: 6% of total estimated room revenue paid at the time of the room block contract signing - this was just under $3,000 for the rooms I chose to block. That money will be applied to the cost of my room or refunded closer to our travel date (if we earn free room nights or if our stay is cheaper than the deposit paid).THEN, the guests pay a deposit of 1 night when the book their room, 50% of their total amount due about 4 months prior to travel, and the remainder by 2 months prior to travel. I find this contract to be very fair and affordable for everyone. The best part is, the down-payment for the entire room block will eventually go toward paying for my stay. So, I've already paid for my room over a year in advance - I think this actually makes things LESS stressful.
  9. What's everyone's opinion on barefoot jewlery - a good idea or a tacky trend? I want to do it but I don't want to regret it.
  10. It's AMAZING. Love you're wording on everything too. Sorry, no constructive criticism here, that's probably the bets wedding website I've ever seen.
  11. I just re-read all of my contracts/info from both Palace and my TA & found no mention of an attendance cap on the “unlimited events". If I were you, I would fight the resort against paying extra for your guests, given that nowhere in the contract does it say that the limit is 30 people. (I’m basing this info off a contract I ALMOST, but did not, sign with Beach Palace). The only info I can gather about the 75 room night benefits is: - Unlimited private functions (one hour cocktail + two hour dinner. MAX three hours per day) Set-up fee not included - set up on the beach and areas without elevator access are surcharged $7.00 USD per person for cocktail and $13.00 USD per person for dinner. Private Group functions are available without surcharge in meeting rooms and outdoor venues, except for beach and rooftop terraces with no elevator access, when using inclusive Hotel menus. . Function areas are assigned upon availability with the onsite wedding planner and confirmed upon arrival. - 7 complimentary nights for bride & groom in lowest room category. Complimentary nights have a $10.00 per person, per night, charge - Hotel agrees to provide the bride and groom with a room upgrade. Maximum room upgrade is based on Concierge Level when category prior is booked, based on availability. If bride and groom book Concierge Level or higher, the upgrade can be extended to another group member of choice.
  12. We will be at a family-friends resort for 6 nights for the wedding... and then we are heading to an adults-only more luxurious resort for a 12 night honeymoon in their presidential suite... Need to celebrate on our own too!!
  13. @@ctlind7 my email is LauraMThistle@@gmail.com ... thanks! I'm only having 35ish people but seeing any sort of the meal-options would be helpful.
  14. @@Pablou What do you mean you can't get married on the beach? I recently booked my wedding for the beach and they said nothing about that!!!! EDIT: .. oh nevermind, for some reason I thought we had booked the same resort... my mistake. That's terrible that you can't get married on the beach though! What is the resort's reasoning for that??
  15. I'm using a BDW TA. I just cross-checked with Expedia and the rates my TA provided are better than Expedia's rates for my week. Her rates are also better than the rates the resort tried to charge me for a group block. @@misbosox I've blocked rooms at BP for the end of April/beginning of May and they are minimally cheaper than you're moon palace rates, nothing I would swap resorts over.
  16. I know exactly where you are coming from!! Spend some time browsing these forums... they've helped me a lot!
  17. @@ctlind7 ... at what point did your WC talk to you about a menu? I'm eager to plant he details but my wedding is still SO far away. Do you have a list of options for menu? Thanks!
  18. @@Pablou We have Booked the "Pure" collection for a beach ceremony at 6pm and are then hosting a cocktail hour on the beach and a 4 hour reception on the sky terrace. Still looking into DJ/Flower/Decoration options!
  19. 6 nights at Beach Palace, Cancun for the wedding and then 9 nights at Le Blanc, Cancun for the honeymoon!! <3 <3
  20. @Pablou Beach Palace =) Keep me updated about your planning with vendors and such!
  21. @ I have sent in the inquiry form! Hoping to hear from you soon!! I've read all your amazing reviews and would LOVE to have you as my TA! I definitely need the help!
  22. @@Pablou .. My cancun wedding is May of 2015!
  23. A wedding is about the couple. NO ONE else. I do believe it's a time to thank our parents (or close friends/family, whoever you may feel has been an important part of your live) and to celebrate with them. But in the end, it's all about the marriage of the couple. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise =)
  24. I only want to take my mom but feel so pressured to have more people with me! I feel like it's out-of-the-norm to not bring a huge group. But, I'm hoping that's just a skewed view from watching to many episodes of Say Yes To The Dress. On another note, Has anyone brought a male family member dress shopping?
