Sand....Heels ot go barefoot?
LauraM replied to blondi1029's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I'm actually considering some sort of pretty white slipper... either that or barefoot. I just want to feel free and comfortable! -
Welcome! Nothing beats the beaches in Cancun! Check out Fiesta Americana, Iberostar, and the Palace Resorts! And a TA is always a GREAT idea.

They're denying the whole thing, which is what makes me even angrier. They did however just tell me that the vendor fee is only $400, when I have been told prior that it is $800, and other brides are all stating that it is $800... you bet I'm saving this email and printing it to bring with me! It's so difficult planning a wedding from so far away, with a planners who have different cultural beliefs and values than the bride.

Welcome Dinner/post Wedding Brunch
LauraM replied to nadiakat17's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
We are doing a brunch the day before the wedding. This way, we'll have the remainder of the day/night to relax and prepare ourselves for our big day! And we don't want to feel obligated to get out of bed and do anything the day after our wedding, we just want to spend time together and see everyone when we're ready -
Our photographer ends at 10pm (5 hour block and they must arrive at 5pm, 1 hour prior to ceremony).. I'm now concerned that they won't have time to capture any of the wonderful candid moments during my party, since I have things all planned out until 9:30... i guess there's no other option though?

The resort approved photographer and the private photographer I hired both charge the same. Similar to the original post, the resort photography seemed very amateur and not artistic at all. AND they changed their package on me without prior notice. All resorts are different but make sure you check out their work before booking.

Someone I know recently did this and it literally looked like a wedding before her wedding, it was confusing... just make sure that you plan properly and do what you're envisioning. If you do, I say either way is fine!

This is what I'm doing... just make sure you either rent decor to outline your reception area, or do something to make it a tad more intimate and conducive to a party atmosphere, to keep the vibe going (assuming this "poolside" area is big and open)

I've been reading this site for MONTHS and giving input everywhere I feel I can and I'm still not there!

So I've read a lot of posts of people asking for various vendor info lately.... thought I'd share what I have. JSAV is the current palace approved DJ. Tania Tagle is an amazing Cancun make-up artist (not a palace vendor) some of the buffet options are attached the palace spa prices some info about photo-booth rental/cigar rolling... Hope this helps some of you! I know I was certainly very thankful when my WC finally started sending me info! My garment bag is so thin.. I heard there's special bags you can buy on ebay for traveling on a plane that run about $50... but like someone said.. better than a ripped gown!!

Our resort is charging about $250/hour after 10pm... So if we go until midnight it's $500. NBD regarding the $$ but we're only having about 30 people.. I don't want the party to die before it's actually over OK so I've already changed my mind about our schedule.... 8:00 Introduction of wedding party 8:10 First Dance 8:15-9:00 Dinner 9:00 Cake cutting 9:15 Toasts/Champagne 9:30 Father Daughter/Mother Son Dance 9:45-11:30/12:00 Dancing!

Thank you all for the opinions! I know I will re-mold my schedule as I continue planning but here's what I have so far.... 7ish-8ish cocktail hour (I don't want to leave my guests for a full hour but I know I'll need that time for pictures... this will be as short as possible! 8:00 Introduction of wedding party 8:10 First Dance (want to do this before eating in-case I spill or feel full after - typical me!) 8:20 Welcome Speech (either a thank-you from my fiance and I or something quick from one of our immediate family members) 8:30-9:15 Dinner (buffet... hope this is quick!) - country/soft music, something upbeat to keep the mood. Maybe some of our favorite songs that aren't exactly dance-songs so that we can hear them while we eat and not miss out on dancing! 9:15 Toasts 9:45 Father Daughter and Mother Son Dance DANCING! 10:30 Cake cutting I'm not sure what time we're ending.... 11? 11:30? 12? Need to put more thought into this! Probably 11:30

Hello! Glad you found this forum, it's so helpful with all aspects of wedding planning!

Try both. The sales rep at my resort gave me prices much higher than my TA was able to negotiate. I was talking to both of them at the same time, without revealing that I was considering other options to either of them. I'm no professional but I see no issue in contacting the resort yourself also. You'r scenario almost makes me question the integrity of your TA, telling you not to contact the resort seems a little suspicious, in my eyes. Please also keep in mind that price isn't everything. My resort's sales rep was extremely difficult to contact and the contract wording was not appeasing to me - which was my ultimate reason for choosing to use a TA. Good luck!

Can anyone share some thoughts for how my reception should be timed out? My ceremony will be at 6pm on the beach, followed by a cocktail hour 7p-8p, during which my fiance and I will be taking photos. The reception will then begin at 8pm. We will be having a buffet dinner, father/daughter dance, mother/son dance, first dance, cake-cutting, possibly a couple toasts, and some sort of 15-30 min "wow" factor (pinata, Mayan coffee, mariachi band - no exactly sure what yet). We'll be renting DJ equipment and doing all announcements with the help of my brother and playing the music via a DJ app on my phone. The resort wants to know what time our reception will end. I'm having trouble planning out a time-line and deciding! Any advice to offer?
