  1. Dj Discomovil ... I didn't book him in time but read amazing reviews and he was always quick to respond and helpful. But, he's an outside vendor so it'll be the $800 vendor fee plus the new $225 electricity fee. His prices are also great though Latin Asia for flowers!
  2. Our wedding is Friday. We're arriving Monday. Most of our guests are arriving before us. We're only getting there so early b/c everyone else is, and we want to spend time with them. I don't think you need to add another day to your trip (unless you want to of course). I've heard that the WC meetings/final planning is quick and easy.
  3. Just keep in mind that if you're having a large wedding - you don't necessarily need a large resort. It might be nice to have a large group at a small resort. Also, many resorts have multiple wedding locations, and can accommodate both small and very large groups. I'm sure you'll get plenty of great ideas here. Also, start emailing resorts for some ideas, and to feel out their wedding department. Good luck!
  4. My WC offered a fireworks display... starting at $2,700 for 1 minute of "medium intensity" fireworks... there were 5-6 other more expensive options also. The company is called Promedsa.
  5. @@Kari26 That's a loaded question and depends on a lot of factors... We may only have 24 people. In which case, our WC has told us we must have a plated meal. The event itself is "free" because we've reached the required number of rooms nights. However, we still must pay $37 per person for a plated meal even though the event is "free." We've asked if we can do a buffet meal and just pay for the extra 1 person we're missing, but our question has been ignored on three occasions now. As you can see... I was told something completely different and quotes something different than another bride. It's very difficult to get straight answers from Palace, but everything seems fairly negotiable...and money can buy anything with them. And like Michelle said... the policies are always changing! You should contact a WC for accurate and up-to-date information. My information is all from what the policies were when I started planning about 9 months ago.
  6. lol @@nadiakat17 I agree! I hate the wrist corsage! I feel like it makes ppl look like old women! ugh! But I think bouts are so classy.... it makes the decision tough. I don't want to break tradition any more than we already are, and I don't want to offend my parents either...
  7. Only for the bride and groom - and they're rather unattractive. We're hiring an outside florist for everything, but not sure etiquette wise if we should order flowers for family?
  8. We do not have a bridal party. We're not sure if we should still give boutonnieres to our fathers and corsages to our mothers? And if they get them, should we be giving flowers to our siblings? And then do we have to get flowers for their dates?
  9. I've stayed in Cancun (hotel zone) in May for 4 years in a row and have never seen much seaweed. But then again I don't know if it has anything to do with the time of year or if we just got lucky w our resort choices.
  10. 6 months out? Relax for a minute before things start getting crazy =) you seem to have everything together already! at 6 months I was making spreadsheets and lists upon lists... which led to more lists... and more to-dos, lol.... You look to be right on track, it all comes together nicely as the date gets closer, trust us =)
  11. i used the knot and don't really like it. The formatting is a mess and making changes is difficult.
  12. haha Kayla that is such a good idea! I'm sure you'r not the only one who does that! SO i just found Bare Necessities while looking for some dress undergarments and although their suites aren't the prettiest, they look super supportive and they even have a couple on clearance.
  13. Thank you all for the replies! update: We found a JOP on our state website. She is being very helpful and guiding us through the process. We will obtain a marriage licence at our town hall about 2 weeks prior to the legal ceremony, for about $30. We will then be legally married by the JOP at a local beach, the night before we leave for Mexico. No one else will know about it. It'll just be me, my hubby, and the JOB. Luckily, In MA, we do not need witnesses.
  14. At least with my TA (also found through BDW), the upgrade was not guaranteed. Our room would be upgraded upon arrival if there was availability. We were not willing to risk this and just booked the highest level room so that we wouldn't be disappointing at check-in. And for comp nights, we were told we will be refunded the equivalent in check form about 1 month before our travel date ( our room was paid for up-front to reserve the room block).
  15. ohhhh! So glad you've shared this with me! This makes me SO frustrated that they haven't given me this option, even though I've told them I will have to cancel my entire wedding/stay if we can't have a reception (because not having one is not an option for me). I will definitely pay for 2-3 heads before canceling my wedding, lol. Thank you!!
  16. @@MissFrench I plan on becoming a regular at TJ Maxx and Marshalls ( as if I'm not already.....) as my wedding approaches! Dresses, cover-ups, yogas! ahhhh I'm excited about the shopping already! and thanks for the Anne Cole tip!
  17. @@IvanLuckiePhotography thank you for the advice! A 45 minute set from a live band is out of our budget. Our DJ package is 4 hours and our reception is only 3 - so I think we will just ask him to play music but not announce/speak/etc... hope it works ok =/
  18. @@calgarybride2015 it's called "thinking out loud" =)
  19. If you have less than 25 people, a private dinner is not allowed (only a cocktail reception) - I'm currently battling Beach Palace about this rule, unfortunately =( ... with less than 25 people, you can have a plated dinner within a restaurant (with standard restaurant decor, no special meal choices, not guaranteed to be seated together). With more than 25 people, like tygrrlily said, you can have a plated dinner for $55 per person. There is also a per person fee (i believe it's around $8) for the sky terrace and beach, even if you have reached enough guest nights to receive a free.
  20. @@ABfutureSulli No you do not. The deal is either pay the vendor fee or book a 3 night stay, so you'r all set (but you should probably get that in writing from your WC also). @@LMichelleB Have you visited BP before? the planque terrace is massive. I saw a gorgeous wedding from my balcony on my last visit. They made the space work by using white furniture (I've seen it in the gamantes catalog) to outline the corners of their "smaller" area within the terrace. They had the buffet table on one side, DJ booth/dance floor on another side, and the two other corners marked with seating areas. It's also very dark out there... I've seen some nice lighting displays (like Chinese lanterns hanging from a wooden pole, kind of like a tree or a chandelier) that would work well to mark your area, and keep your guests tighter for a more intimate feel. A light up dance floor would look amazing out there. Definitely wouldn't skimp on lighting.
  21. Right now... thinking out loud - ed sheeran. But it has changed a couple times.
  22. @@calgarybride2015 that is such a good idea! I love the palace entertainment staff, I wish they offered this!
  23. I wish I could buy Old Navy swimsuits! I always see super cute mix and match bikinis everywhere for like $25... unfortunately even and XL isn't holding in these DDs =(
