  1. Congrats I'll make it there some day! lol
  2. @@AllieH Well it's nice to know I'm not the only one I really want paper invites as well, and I love your idea about how to incorporate it after our friends and family have been formally invited.
  3. We actually decided to book with WestJet Vacations because they were cheaper. Much cheaper. The only problem was, was that we only had a month to get all the deposits in or our guests may be subjected to a fare increase. They also had fewer incentives for the bride and groom, but we didn't want to punish our guests with an extra $300 per person just so we can get extra perks Fortunately everyone understands *phew*
  4. Hi ladies! I'm getting married at the Grand Palladium in the Mayan Riviera on February. 6, 2015
  5. I really wanted to do invitations, but in order to get the best deal for our guests for the trip we only had a short window in which to put down deposits. I was pretty embarrassed at first calling everyone and asking if they wanted travel info before the invites went out, but my friends and family seemed totally fine with it. Huge relief! I was worried I was making a huge faux pas.
  6. Congrats on you wedding @@Linds1204! Thanks for the response ladies. It definitely puts my mind at ease
  7. @@acw271011 Thanks for your response. We did know about the legal requirements and the fact that our resort only offers the ceremony in Spanish, so that's not a surprise. I just noticed that no one has really mentioned what the ceremony was really like, so I was wondering. I'm very glad to hear that it's going to resemble what I expect a wedding to be.
  8. My fiancé and I are getting married at the Grand Palladium next year. I just had a questions for those of you who had a legal ceremony. What is the ceremony like? Is it similar to a traditional wedding ceremony with an exchange of vows and rings? I'd just like an idea of what to expect. TIA
  9. We have so many friends and family that have small children there was no way we could get away with not inviting them! Fortunately we happened to fall in love with a resort that happens to be family friendly
  10. We will not be paying for our bridal party's travel expenses, but I LOVE the idea of paying for an excursion for them. I was trying to think of something special to do and that thought never occurred to me. Fantastic
  11. I've seen some beautiful TTD shoots done in the cenotes in Mexico. I hope we can work it into the budget!
  12. Any plans for doing this for the Grand Palladium in the Riviera Maya?
  13. I'm getting married here in February 2015! So excited, just got the confirmation from the resort
  14. Grand Palladium White Sand in the Riviera Maya. The location is exactly what we wanted, they allow outside photographers, and the resort has a lot of variety in regards to entertainment and food (which is what we wanted for our guests).
  15. Hey ladies! Hope you can help I was browsing through this thread and I saw a beautiful dress (including pics of a bride in the custom from China), and I was being a dork and didn't mark what page it was on, and now I can't find it. It was somewhere in the 500's pages (I was browsing for a while). It was long, A-line, possibly a drop waist, ivory or champagne, and it had a tiered lace skirt. I know it's not much to go on, but if anyone happens to know what dress it was, can you post a picture? I spent an hour browsing the pages today and came up with nothing. Not all the pictures are loading on my computer so I may have gone past the page and missed the image. Thanks so much in advance!
  16. @@csho I'm glad he came around for you, and the location must have been beautiful! I've always got my camera in his face and I think he's a little over it lol. The cost was a factor for us as well ... I would rather spend the extra money on great photos of the wedding day. @@TinkerSofi I don't think there is a right or wrong way to do it - you guys do whatever you want!
  17. We are looking at around $1900 for 7 nights all inclusive in RM. It seems like my rates are so much more expensive! Is it because we are flying out of Calgary?
  18. Thank you so much for sharing! I've never heard of two of the sites, and it honestly never occurred to me to check with Martha Stewart. Hopefully this doesn't consume too much of my day today lol
  19. We also didn't do engagement pics. My fiancé hates having his picture taken, and since he's accepted the fact that it's going to happen on our wedding day, I didn't want to push the issue
  20. Thank you so much for all of your ideas. We took a few days to really think about it and decided to cross the Azul Sensatori off our list. Since 95% of our guests have never been to Mexico, we really wanted to be closer to the attractions in Tulum, Akumal, and Playa del Carmen. We also decided to nix the Bahia properties due to the fact that the dolphins really bugged us. So we went in search of something close to the price of the Bahia, in a similar location, that was family friendly and came up with the Grand Palladium resorts. We may end up spending a little more on the wedding than it would have cost us at the Bahia, but it offers everything we are looking for @@KimmyA The La Esmeralda was my fiancé's first choice, but the wedding packages were a little pricier than we were hoping to spend
  21. Can the Spoon restaurant accommodate more than 40 people for a reception? I'm having a hard time figuring that out.
  22. @@JMK923 Thanks for your response. I feel like I'm really hung up on the beach thing but if there is a better beach area close by that makes me feel much better. It doesn't bother me so much, but we have family coming that haven't taken a vacation in years and I really want them to have the whole package - great food, awesome weather, beautiful resort, and a picturesque beach Congrats on your wedding! Hope you have a fantastic time!!!
  23. I hope you guys can help a newbie focus a little! lol My fiancé and I are planning on getting married around PDC early 2015. The two resorts I really like for their weddings are the Grand Bahia Tulum, and the Azul Sensatori. We will be having a lot of guests (adults and children) coming that have never been to Mexico before so we want it to be a good experience for them. I'll list my pros and cons and maybe someone can put me on the right track or suggest something I haven't thought of yet. I'd really appreciate it Azul Pros: beautiful resort, smaller property, great selection of food and no reservations, variety of room types, great kids and adults only areas. Azul Cons: not the best beach, at the higher end of what we want our guests to spend for the trip, further from PDC than I would like. GBP Pros: awesome beach, lots of food choices, perfect price point, large resort with lots to do. GBP Cons: again, further from PDC, I dislike the dolphin tank, it may be too large a resort?, limited a la cartes. Any thoughts? We had also looked at Playacar Palace but the price seemed a little steep for such a small resort, and the Gran Porto Real seems like it's getting a little older and not many food options. I feel like my brain is going to explode! lol. Thank you so much in advance for any help you can give me.
