    @ SamanthaC that's more than a good enough reason to have a AHR. We don't have any grandparents alive so doing one in Punta Cana is good enough for us. When are you deciding to buy your wedding dress?

    We are paying for our own wedding as well. Both our parents cannot afford to help out, so we doing it all by ourselves!

    @ SamanthaC No AHR happening this end!!..lol.. My FI (thank God) agrees that whoever comes great because we only doing it once! That's awesome that your FI's best friend is helping you plan the reception here, if I had a friend like that I would totally have one here. Great exchange on both your ends..

    Good on you and your hubby for not scratching out your destination wedding!! It must have been extremely hard for you both initially but when such happens nothing we can do as I'm now learning. Ultimately it will be you two standing there and making those promises to God and each other for life! Thank you for sharing @ SamanthaC hands down to you for having a AHR, I don't have the patience to plan both!!

    @ SamanthaC I don't want any strippers!! Though I've been told I have no say in what I want or don't want. I'm having my bachelorette here before we leave. Was hoping to have something quiet like a winery tour and lunch, not happening!! And I am having a bridal shower as well. How long after you get back are you having your AHR?

    @ SamanthaC thank you! Are you doing a wedding registry & bridal shower? FI doesn't want one (wedding registry) and actually don't think I want one either! I know for a fact my Mom and sis are going to throw me the shower no matter what!

    @ SamanthaC I agree and I'm grateful for that...but.. a lot of our close friends and fam are not coming. Do you have a wedding website?

    Well for us we had 60pple family and friends all say they coming. Deposits were due March 31 and about 40pple paid the $200 to secure the price. Final payment is due July 30 and so far pple that have already paid the non-refundable deposit had cxld about 10! Just be expecting pple you always thought would be there on your wedding day to cxl, it's not easy to accept but it comes with us making this choice!

    @ SamanthaC had about 40pple pay their $200 deposits which were due March 31. Final payment is due July 30 and I have about 10 pple that have paid their deposits tell me they don't think they can come due to financial issues!! @ ASAtobe thank you for that!! It's amazing to know we all are experiencing the same issues. After this conversation with you guys I feel soooooooo much better I originally booked 30 rooms due to not knowing the # of pple wanting to come. My Travel Agent had to ask for more rooms to be added to that number though it was decreased with guests cxling now

    I personally do not want a shower!! I was thinking about just adding a registry and a bank acc for those that want to give cash on our wedding website,

    Guess that wouldn't be the right thing to do, asking them to drop out! (Wonder how I'd start the conversation off..lol..) I know it doesn't`t have to balance out but you know us brides wanting everything to be perfect. Unfortunately there is nobody else to ask, a lot of our young friends are not coming or have cxld. Don`t think I want my Aunts as my bridesmaids..lol.. A thought.. maybe I can have 2 groomsmen escort 1 bridesmaid down

    Problem is my Fi has all his groomsmen (4) all picked and they all supper excited to be in the bridal party. How do I then inform some of them we cannot have them all in order to balance out mine, down to 2 now who are able to make it. Hey at least you have saved money

    I'm using a local travel agent that is based somewhat near me. My guests however are coming from Vancouver, Edmonton and deal directly with her through email.
