  1. I don't have a good idea as to how much it will cost my guests, because we gave them a range of choice. We block booked room for 7 days, but we are allowing our guests to choose how long they want to stay, as well as when they want to go to Punta Cana. Guests have to stay for 3 days at Dreams Palm Beach, so that is $611 for 3 nights for double occupancy and flights are between 550-650 depending on the day!
  2. I voted for the first one! I think it would look great on the beach! Great theme as well!
  3. I designed our boarding pass save the saves myself and had them printed at Staples so they would look more professional. You can print on cardstock at Staples we just went with that. I think we paid about $10 to get them all printed. They even offered to cut them for us, but we decided to do that ourselves. Hope that helps! This is how they turned out:
  4. I would go with the friend over the SIL. As you said, you don't have the best relationship and adding wedding stress to that might make things worse. She might not have your back when it comes times to need her help either. I picked by best friend from high school and our relationship is a lot like what you described above, we can go months without really talking and can pick right back up from where we left off. She is also the only person from my home town (besides my family!) that I actually keep in touch with. I also had the thought of having a MOH that I actually still talk to 5 years down the road, but when it comes down to it, she is important in my life now and in the past, and was a positive force in my relationship with my FI, so I chose to honour that relationship!
  5. I saw the flight for $562ish on Travelocity, but that price was up to $640 today when I checked again
  6. Um not really....the BMs will have royal blue dresses and have yellow flowers. We will have touched of blue and yellow for the ceremony and reception, but we haven't planned anything yet!
  7. Thanks Ladies! Do you know if they have a closet that I can hang my dress up in?
  8. I am doing royal blue and yellow. I also love the gray and yellow combo, but felt that blue would look better on the beach!
  9. Hi All, I was just checking flight prices and found a great deal with Air Transat. We are flying out of Pearson to Punta Cana in March 2015. The flight is about $75 cheaper than any other flights that day. My only concern is that I don't know much about Air Transat and am wondering if anyone has had good or bad experiences using them? West Jet is the next cheapest flight that day, so does anyone have any experiences with West Jet? Also, I found the flights on Trip Advisor, but when I look at the Air Transat website the flight details are slightly different, as in the flight times doesn't exactly match, only by a few minutes, but that seems odd to me. Did other people run into this while booking flight?! I have only ever flow once before, so I'm very new to this and don't want to get screwed over with flights! Thanks!
  10. I agree with kmk2016, once you know what resort and an idea of the date contact a TA to help with securing the date and group rates! Congrats and good luck planning!
  11. I'm so sorry you are going through that @@SamanthaC. We haven't sent out the invitations yet with the booking deadlines, but we are preparing ourselves for people dropping out. I'm sure we will get some, as the deadline will be sometime in Christmas, so I'm sure we will get the "we can't afford to come after Christmas etc" excuses, but we gave a year notice to everyone we invited. We know that some people won't be able to come for cost reasons, but we totally understand. We know that we will have a great time with the guests that do come, so that it what we are focusing on!
  12. I am in Canada and I'm using Wright Travel. For the resort we picked (Dreams Palm Beach) required a $100 deposit for each room we block booked. We booked 30 rooms, so we paid a deposit of $3000 (American). It sucks to have to pay so much up front, but that is 3000 less than we have to pay at the end. We are hoping that it will cover the cost of our stay at the resort, as well as part of the wedding expenses!
  13. I would be pissed! You need to make it clear that they cannot attend any wedding events!
  14. Congrats! Beaches Turks & Caicos was my dream wedding location, but unfortunately out budget (or our guests budgets!) wouldn't allow for this location. Happy Planning!
  15. My fiancé also feels very strongly about me taking his last name. I was opposed to it for a while, as I felt that my name is a big part of me. He and I also don't like hyphenating, as it would look very odd, and a mouthful! In the end I decided I will change my name, as it is the one thing he has ever asked/wanted me to do, and it means so much to him. He didn't push the subject at all, so it was my decision to change my name!
  16. I would agree to do trials with a hairdresser you know and like. I'm going to wear my hair up, as that is how I always envisioned it!
  17. The first time I went bridal dress shopping I wore a nude strapless bra and a thong. For some reason I didn't think the sales assistant would be in the room with me, duh! They seem pretty neutral about what you wear underneath....I mean they see you almost naked for like an hour! Congrats to everyone who has found their dress! I ordered mine about a month ago and I'm so excited! I also went to David's Bridal for one of my appointments and didn't have any huge issues. It wasn't busy that day so that wasn't a problem, but I found that the sales assistant was trying to put me in dresses I really didn't want or like. I always envisioned myself in a strapless empire gown with minimal "bling" but she really wanted me to try on sparkly fitted dresses. While I appreciated her picking out other dress for me (other than those on my list), I found it annoying to constantly get little comments like "you need to stand out in your pictures", "you only do this once, so it should be sparkly!". When I went to David's Bridal I had already found my dress at the time, but just wanted to try on more just in case, so I wasn't really bothered too much by the comments!
  18. I have the same colour BM dresses. My other colour is yellow, so I was thinking yellow flip flops for the girls. The silverr would work as well!
  19. I'm in Canada and I started going to GoodLife in February. It wasn't totally just to loose weight/look better for the wedding, but it isn't hurting! I do cardio and weights at least 5 times a week. The biggest change I have seen is in my arms and shoulders, which is nice as I'm wearing a strapless dress. I'm more worried about being in a bathing suit in front of friends and family than what I will look like in my dress!
  20. I'm so sorry everyone is going through this. We have sent out the save the dates and have booking info on our website, but haven't heard any grumblings yet. I'm sure we will get some rude comments/people dropping out as we get closer to the date but I'm going to be optimistic (for now anyways!). We will definitely be using the "we totally understand if you can't come" line on anyone who tries to cause drama. As long as my FI and I are there, that is all that really matter!
  21. Hi All, Now that everything is booked for my wedding, I'm starting to think about decorations and flowers now. My colours are royal blue and yellow. The BMs and groomsmen will have royal blue on, so I'm thinking yellow flowers (and possibly white) for them. I'm not sure which flowers to choose, so any advice and/or photos would be very much appreciated! Also, will the BMs and bride have the same bouquets or were they different?
  22. I've followed your blog for a while now and I'm so glad everything turned out for you! Congrats on the marriage and new baby!
