  1. I am about 140lbs right now, since starting grad school about 4 years ago I have slowly gained about 15 pounds. I actually decided before I got engaged that I was tired of how I felt so I started going to the gym (Goodlife). Since starting I haven't actually lost any weight, but I have lost inches and have toned up. I do cardio and weights 4-6 times a week. I do Body pump, so if anyone in Canada is looking to get in better shape I would recommended going to that class. It is definitely tough, but it pays off! I'm more worried about looking good in a bathing suit in front of friends and family than what I look like in my dress!
  2. I think its perfectly fine to hand deliver invitations, I did! We also got the best man (my FI cousin) to deliver our save the dates to my FI side of the family as they see each other on a daily basis. I addressed our save the dates to everyone invited, so John, Jane, Jim and James Doe etc, just to make sure everyone feels included! Hope that helps!
  3. We aren't going to do one as we felt it would be tacky to ask guests to shell out money to come to the wedding and to help pay for it as well! But that being said, if you want to do it you should!
  4. Hi Ladies, Recently I've had some questions from guests about booking for the wedding. Some of them have started to talk about looking at other websites to book the flight and hotel together to save money. The way we set up our booking is that we have a group rate for the resort but the guests have to book the flight themselves. We thought this would be the best for guests, because then they get to decide how long they want to stay/how much they can afford rather than us saying that they have to be there for 7 days etc. Guests have to stay for a minimum of 3 nights at our resort, so we wanted to leave people the option of choosing how long they stay. Is there a polite way to tell them not to look at other websites and to book through our travel agent? We get a pretty good discount if we book xx number of rooms with our travel agent, so how can we tell them not to book elsewhere so we get a free stay without sounding totally rude? lol Help!
  5. I think I've seen pins on Pinterest about how to make your own glittery heels. If I find it again I will post it here. From what I remember it didn't look too hard, just have to cover a pair of heels with some sort of glue and sprinkling the glitter or sparkles onto that.
  6. @@lisamcintyrex I chose the garden gazebo and pool side for mine as well! I'm pretty excited! I am doing a symbolic ceremony. When we sent in our reservation form they said they only had room for a symbolic ceremony that day. From what I understand they can only done civil ceremonies in the morning (like 10am) and there is only one judge who does them in the whole county, so it would be pretty difficult to get the day and time you wanted to do a civil ceremony. My FI and I were debating which to do, but when we got the form back saying it could only be symbolic we didn't really have a choice!
  7. Hi All, I'm looking for a blank outline map of the Dominican Republic, similar to these to add to the back of my passport invitations: If anyone has a copy of something similar, or knows where to get it I would appreciate it! Thanks!
  8. This is my dress on the model and me in the dress. It's actually a bridesmaid dress (hence the black) but I am getting it in ivory, adding a sash and getting it into a strapless sweetheart neckline. There is also a small flower piece that I am adding to the sash on the back to make the back more interesting.
  9. Those are amazing!! I wish I had seen this before I made mine! I am also getting married at Dreams Palm Beach!
  10. I only have a few left to go!
  11. Congratulation and happy planning!
  12. Congrats! I'm not four away once I submit this post!
  13. I agree with everyone above, Patty Jordan is amazing! She is very helpful and responsive to any questions you might have! I'm sure anyone from Wright Travel would be amazing to work with!
  14. Congrats on the engagement and upcoming wedding! It's never too early to start planning, and saving! Good luck planning and I'm sure you will find answers to all the questions you have, as well as the questions you didn't know you had, on this forum!
  15. That sounds like a good idea! I was thinking of doing a rehearsal dinner the night before with just family and bridal and groom parties then having a cocktail hour afterwards to let everyone know the details. An hour should be fine, then people don't feel pressured to stay longer than they might want to!
  16. Your website was great! I am definitely going to borrow some of the great idea for my website, such as the helpful hints!
  17. First, congrats on the upcoming wedding, and engagement! That is awful that your SIL is acting that way. I'm guessing that an outright confrontation with her is out of the picture, as you said she is very controlling. Could you get your fiancée to talk to her about it? Like you said in your post, you just need to explain to her that you both want this as a bonding experience for your families and for it to be small and intimate. Maybe you can tell her that she is welcome to invite her friends to come down once the wedding is over? I can't believe that she is showing off YOUR dress to everyone! That is infuriating! You definitely have to move it so she stops! Good luck with the rest of your planning!
