What's your departure city? That plays a big part... And remember that Mexico taxes for AI packages are usually anywhere between $300-$400 a person on top of flight hotel. Seeing that April is the tail end of high season it's foreseeable to be around $2000 all in at a 4+ star at that time. See if there are credits that are offered for group bookings (every 6 one free for example), and the use that credit as a gift to all your guests splitting it by the number of bookings to reduce the price. It also really depends on the relationship your TA has with your operator and resort...there are often deals out there that they can grab and apply to your booking. We will have been engaged for 2 yrs by the time the wedding comes too! I am working with Laurielee Rosser (laurielee.ca) and she is amaaaazzzzing! She came highly recommended and now I know why! She was able to negotiate great rates almost 2 yrs ahead of our date! This will allow guests to put down small deposits and then save for our big day! She has relationships with many tour operators that got us great perks too! I highly recommend her. I don't ever use an agent and we travel a lot... But for our wedding? She has been invaluable! We are expecting between 80-100 including kids and hope to keep it below $1500. My first wedding which was your typical local church wedding with an evening reception and it ended up costing over $50,000 so I am sold on DWs!!! Luckily one of my friends is one of our city's top photographers so she will travel to cover our wedding and we will only need to pay her trip costs, saving us HUGE... And then my hair and make up are also being "gifted" by professionals who are either in my wedding party or attending. Because I'm holding off signing my group contract until coming back from my site visit in June- the wait is killing me! All it's doing is leading me to second guess my resort... I like to think of it as "classic" not simple hahaha... I will hope to have a few visually pretty components, but won't have a "lot" of decor. It may end up costing similar but my esthetic is more clean lines and classic look- which often comes across as minimalist. I for example, am not having ANY flowers... I am fearing this response from people but so far ones we have talked to have been supportive. I may be disappointed when RSVPs start coming back- but so far everyone is excited about the prospect of a week in the sun. I'm soooo scared about people secretly resenting us for it though. The people pleaser in me really is conflicted about a DW but I decided that instead of worrying I plan on just spoiling our guests who DO come, with lots of extras and treats.... Ignore my panic. Lol... Talked to my FI and he said the same people from his side would come regardless if it was a couple hundred more... And to not stress and go with what we like. so Sensatori it is. We are going golfing one day, but will work with a course to negotiate a mini tournament so price is reasonable.
