  1. We have a "music request" portion on our interactive RSVP (wedshare) which allows guests to request, comment and vote on music. We made it clear there are no guarantees your song will be played (i need veto power lol), but that if they hear their song, they better be on the dance floor. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. She works for Tier One and specializes in assisting brides with DW and planning. If you were a US bride I would recommend Wright (they run this board!!) but for Canadians our packages are different and Tier One/Laurie Lee has amazing relationships with the TOs and Resorts. 3. I was told that we couldn't have a larger group than 50 people including bridal party at Azul Beach- even as a private event. They gave us their other properties as options but said adamantly that azul beach would not be an option! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. There are a bunch of us from Alberta! I would suggest reaching out to a great TA who can help you narrow down some choices... Mine has been fantastic planning so far out, you may want to call/email her! Laurielee.ca Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Welcome! Feb 2016 here... And Mayan Riviera for us! Originally thought we would do Jamaica, but after looking into it more, the Mayan was perfect for us- and closer for most of our guests to travel. Looking forward to planning alongside you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Feb 2016 here! We are planning ahead to allow our guests to save as well! Looks like there are a few of us doing the same thing! In the meantime it allows me to try and save some money by keeping my eye out for deals... Try DIY projects and find the perfect dress all without feeling the panic! We have our resort 99% confirmed (going down for a site visit in 3 weeks to make sure it's perfect)... And then invites are going out in July to allow early deposits. 7. Hi all past Karisma (Azul, Generations and El Dorado) Brides! The one piece I find difficult to get real life photos of are Karisma's cakes! Can you please share pics of your cakes and make note of what property (our outside vendor) made it for you? I don't even know if an outside vendor for the cake is possible... But any and all pics of your actual cake would be great! TIA! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. @@tygrrlily that's awesome! So when you were walking around, you could see the designer and name of the dress??? I am tempted to go and try on some expensive dresses, as I'm considering (strongly) to have something recreated overseas- but would love to know the designer and style so I can research online for photos etc afterward... And I know that usually you aren't allowed to take pics of the dresses. I will totally make an appointment there at an upcoming trip! Excited!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Your dress is stunning on! Wooohoo!!!! You look fantastic! What kind of price range did you give your consultant at the Bay if you don't mind me asking.... How many dresses did she pull for you at that price range? Your silhouette is similar to what I'm going for.., so it might be fun to go try on dresses here as I'm in GTA every couple months for work. 10. Paying for our own. First time around, my dad paid almost $80,000k and there is no way I would ever ask him to contribute this time around. Luckily at this stage in our lives we both make solid incomes and can cover the costs. (It's my second marriage and FI's first) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Lol I had the same problem. I ended up using the little tab on the top that was like a -II symbol that allowed me to move the image to the right a bit at a time... Until it was approximately in the same place as the box, and then deleted the box and adjusted the location of the text boxes... It looks good now but boy was it frustrating!! (I also had to obviously rotate the image Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I'm totally doing a long veil with veil weights to keep it in place... It covers my broad shoulders which I'm always self conscious of.... And it fits my vision... Do what feels right for you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. We have kids and are definitely making them a part of the wedding, so we obviously needed to choose a resort that allowed kids, but we decided to choose a resort that also had an adults only section in case anyone wanted to make it a break from their kids or didn't have kids and wanted to have a quiet section to relax. I couldn't imagine getting married without my kids being there to be a part of it. Right now it's about 50/50 with our friends who are parents, if they are bringing their kids along. Many are saving and making it their big family vacation. My twins are seasoned travellers and have flown all over the place since 6 months old, even when I was a single mom for a while we cruised and visited Disney World etc, airlines are great at accommodating strollers, car seats etc... Once you arrive to your destination the only tricky part is car seats in taxis or transfers. Private transfer is usually the easiest- and bringing your own seats. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. @@DallasAshli I agree that any of the karisma "azul" or "generations" properties would fit your billing. They are some of the most family friendly resorts in the area and yet cater to adults with gourmet inclusive offerings. azul beach, fives or sensatori would be fantastic options Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I had a similar problem in that I am very close to some aunts but not others (all sisters) and likewise with my cousins... And to make it more complicated there were some aunts/uncles I didn't want to invite but I'm close to their kids. I'm an only child so my cousins and I are like siblings in some cases. I was originally only going to invite the ones I truly wanted there... But in the end I decided it wasn't worth the tension and family arguments that would ensue by leaving some of them out. They most likely will make no effort to come, and aside from sending them the invite I don't plan on following up with those people at all... But if they do end up surprising me, it will add about 20 people to our count. Fingers crossed they fail to respond! Haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. @@TinkerSofi I will pm you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I saw your post about you now thinking of changing resorts to a Karisma property.... I'm down there in 3 weeks if you need any info (attending the dress rehearsal). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I ended up paying for a site on wedshare.com because of the amount of customization and tools associated with the website. Everyone we are inviting to our wedding are tech savvy enough to use the website for RSVP, and our invites are a cross between what most would likely think are STD and Invites.... Didn't see the need to have both for us. It saved money and trees. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Congratulations!!! So happy for you! And excited that so many people are coming for you! Such a wonderful surprise huh? I'm hoping to be as lucky... But like you said, you never know who will actually be there in the end! Can't wait to hear all about how your wedding goes!! I'm sure it will be PERFECT! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Awesome! Yeah, Karisma does pretty much the same as Hard Rock for the free visit. The way the Karisma group does it is you pay $400 for the site visit holiday, but you get a $500 credit.. So same as a free trip in essence. Glad you found someone so close who is great!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. We booked direct through Lomas to get a sense of their service level in case we use them for any transfers to excursions for our group the wedding week (via our TA)... It was $89 shared transport direct to hotel or $135 private. We decided to spend the extra and do private. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. We are sending our official invitations (not doing a std) and access to our full service wedding website in July this year for our feb 2016 wedding so people can start booking. It will have all of our information on them and are following our theme. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Most resorts have vendor meals... So you aren't expected to feed them your lobster dinner if that's the menu you select for your guests. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. The issue is that for us Jan-March brides.... It's high season and LOT more expensive than later months. This is where they can boost the price because many people who live in cold climates are ready to escape the snow for Mexico which drives price up! We have no option and a February date is a "must do" for is based on FIs schedule.,. But man, I wish we could go in a lower priced season and save the $$! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Love the DIS boards... And love Disney World! We own DVC and go twice a year. I would have totally gotten married there (or in a DIsney Cruise) but FI would say no way!! Hahaha best perk- free annual pass for the new bride/groom! Plus their cakes are gorgeous! The DIS wedding group is a very good suggestion! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
