  1. GET A NEW TA!! Seriously, tell your TA what you want, and the pricing you have seen out there in your research- and ask her if he can deliver a contract for that pricing. There are things like increase in fuel costs etc. that Tour Operators and airlines factor into their pricing, and could be having them influence the price for next year- but it shouldnt be that different. It could also be that there are already a limited number of rooms remaining at the resort for the week you want to travel and thus, the pricing has increased (I have seen brides here have their resort sell out and not be able to accomodate their guests, over a year in advance). In any event, I would keep looking for a TA until you find one that has a great relationship with the TOs and the resort- and can lock in your wedding date/contract how you want. Not all TA's are created equal.
  2. The latest you can have private events (may not apply in the ballroom) is 11pm, so if you if you work backward from that it may help! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Yup- let her know you don't know help she's feeling but that you will be there for whatever she needs. What she needs now is a friend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. In most contracts that you sign your TA will insure you have a "one time price drop protection" so that if the price drops from the day you sign your contract and the day the final payments are due, they will adjust all guests signed under the contract's pricing! It saves you from having to worry about a price drop while securing your space at a popular hotel. This isn't an add on that you have to pay for.,, this is something your TA can easily negotiate as part of your agreement, Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I'm ordering their dresses overseas to save some money- hoping to have them less than $150 a piece. I'm also buying their "getting ready robes", Rayban aviators (suggested by another BDW bride) and silk clutches that are going to be carried instead of flowers. I have 4 girls and a guy (I'll be paying for his pants/vest and sunglasses) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Heading to Sensatori tomorrow for the dress rehearsal! Super excited other than the weather which is pouring rain, but expected since it's rainy season. Any last minute things anyone wants me to check on? I plan on taking a ton of pics. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. At that age... Id ask them- especially the 13 yr old. At that age you, as you wisely have done- don't want to force them to look at you as "mom" or your parents as instant Grandparents. Have your FI talk to the kids and see what works for them. I called my step dad by his first name for as long as I've know him and his parents were "mr and mrs --- " as a sign of respect. Don't force anything on them,,, it will happen naturally- since your mom seems to be pushing the "nana" thing maybe explain to her that it doesn't feel comfortable for them right now- and hope she understands. 8. We are doing "neck tags" on corona bottles....I found them on etsy but think I will be able to DIY them fairly easy. We may also use the drink tags as there are some people that don't drink so a tropical mocktail may be nice. Either way, it will be one or both of these. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Most have quick forms to fill out to submit quotes that take less than 5 minutes. They all realize that brides need to research and aren't offended if you inquire about their pricing and packages. They are used to it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I have both a man and matron of honor. They are both important to me and will be there for me in different ways. I know the man of honor will pretty much not do anything leading up to the big day- and will care less about the planning, but he will be my humor and strength the day of the wedding and knows me better than anyone. He's been my best friend for over 25 yrs. my MoH has only been my friend for 5 years now, but was there while I healed from my divorce and has watched my relationship with my FI at every step. They are the perfect combo team. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. We have told everyone they MUST stay at the resort and aren't offering other options. If however, someone decides to just book something else and disregard our direction/ I will let them know that it will be $100 for each day's activities day passes (3 days worth of events planned) and that we are not covering this cost. 12. Yes kids have the same limits Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. You should either use a website or on your save the date/invite and give all the information for your travel agents contact info... Then you leave it to her! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. If you get a chance, read through this thread- it's a lot of reading but you will see the quality differences etc between all the companies and help you with a decision. Also weddingbees has a ton of brides who are very active and post mid-production and final pics for people.,, which i found helpful. The big thing I think is to give whomever you choose a TON of time to make your dress and give them a "fake wedding date" to ensure it comes early enough for alterations etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Weddingsbylomas has them shown on their entertainment section. This company is used by Karisma properties but I'm sure they do business with anyone that wants to use them. A bit pricy- but live entertainment like this usually isn't cheap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I think it was $.99 or $1.99... Definitely not a ton of money- and worth it for me... Even to get a feel for how the ceremony music will sound fading from song to song for different parts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. That may be one of the shops that basically takes your money and then orders your dress from a Chinese vendor, adds a surcharge and sends it out as their own. I don't know... You can tell whether it's In stock, by looking at the estimated shipping times. I think they all say how long it will be. Lace Marry and Cara Bridal (both on Etsy) seem to be getting some more chatter on other forums lately as well- both fairly new, and feedback has been mixed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. First off- are you from the US or Canada? It will be handled differently as the packages are different dependent on where you are located. If you are from US I recommend Wright Travel (they run this board!) and if you are from Canada there are a bunch of great people too- I personally loved by TA who specializes in DWs... Her name is Laurielee from TierOne Travel. Laurielee.ca Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Etsy is just like any normal store... But it's a collection of people who have stores and do creative things. There are many graphic designers on Etsy who have stores there where they will design and print your invitations etc just like any invite company, but often with much more detail and interesting concepts. Some times you can find really good deals there- or else find things that re unique and interesting that are worth paying for! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. These are some of the most unique and beautiful ones I have seen. I've already completed mine- but I may use this as inspiration to do a thank you card in a similar way. Gorgeous!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. This is my inspiration pallet: Mostly bright pinks, corals and blood orange with a touch of gold... And light blue/grey on the men. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Congratulations! Once you have an idea of which resort and date, best bet is to contact a TA to help you coordinate and lock in a room/package rate for your guests as well as secure any bonus deals that may be bail able to you. Not sure if you are from Canada, US or elsewhere- but that all plays a factor in the planning. This is a great place to gather info and share tips and ideas so you already made the great first step by coming here! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Ive never heard of them. There are a ton of companies out there that seem to do good work...but Im too much a chicken to go with anyone that hasnt been used and reported on by many brides who are active on this or other forums. That's why for me its really only 3 or 4 companies I would consider... and Jasmines may be the most expensive of the replica dress makers but definitely does the best work when it comes to lace or beading. Simpler dresses may be ok to do with one of the lesser known companies- but I would still go with one that is heavily reviewed. As for custom sizing, I guess I figure- if they are going to be making my dress for me specifically, I would rather lessen the chances of needing to spend the same amount in alterations, and thus one of the advantages of these companies is, they will work with your custom measurements. They will explain how to do the measurements on their websites... and I am going to have them done by my aunt who is a seamstress so they are correct. (Dont try and do them yourself)... that way the dress form will be your actual measurements and hopefully will fit you perfect (Or needing minimal alterations).
