Ooooooo I love it! Do you know somewhere local that sells the small jars of dulce de leche?? Or are you thinking of picking it up locally once there? I love the stuff and found it once at sunterra but wasn't able to find it last time I was there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Are you worried about bringing these over the border because they are food and not necessarily "packaged"? They look fantastic! I'm in Calgary and may need to go here just to try these! I love the idea! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Wow that's the highest rate I have ever heard of for setting up personal decor! Did you check with other brides on your specific resort thread and ask them what they paid? This doesn't seem right. Karisma is notorious for being outrageous for their fees and they are only charging $250 maximum for all decor and set up for a wedding (ceremony and reception combined- no matter what the decor or set up) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Guests Not Booking Through Travel Agent
kmk2016 replied to kellymiller's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Yikes! As Canadian you will always find going through a tour operator and getting a package price for air/hotel as a charter will save money, I would suggest getting your TA to lock in a price for the package ASAP and let your guests know it's available for an option. In the US it makes sense to book them separately but as a general rule this is not the case in Canada! I'm surprised your TA didn't steer you in this direction! Our contract makes it actually cheaper including flights, than the "hotel only" quote we got originally. (Now locked in with sunwing/signature),,, except our US guests who will book separately, Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I will go back and read my notes on the dishes... But the cakes I can remember- the chocolate with chocolate cream, red velvet and champagne with cream were all delicious. I would stay away from the cupcakes as they were all terrible but the cakes were great even with the fondant icing. They go a little heavy in the cream icing between the layers but it makes it super moist. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Stessed To The Max....need Advice
kmk2016 replied to kcole123's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
I totally hear you! My invites go out next week and the 90 day booking window for our guests starts this Friday (Im going to put my deposits down on Friday to start the clock, since there is an added sale that ends next week paying 1/2 of the taxes... so if I start the contract before that expires, all our guests can take advantage.) Im starting to panic that no one will book and that I will be disappointed. I got our deposits knocked down to $150 and then guests have over a year to pay off the rest... so it seems like a no brainer- but I KNOW I am going to have my feelings hurt at some stage of the process, when someone I really expected to come through, doesnt book. I guess its the price we pay for saying "I Do" with the sand between our toes and the sunshine beaming overhead... I just need to remind myself of the mantra- those who are meant to be there, will be. No turning back now! -

I'm glad it worked out.... Or at least that the new person seems to be stepping up. Are you still going to reach out/remind folks of the deadline in two weeks and give them the new TA information? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Are you paying for your bridesmaides dresses
kmk2016 replied to seandy's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I'm paying... My AI costs are $2000 a person and my entire bridal party has kids who are also planning on attending, so that's an investment of over $5000 for each of them/families to attend. I could not think about adding to their cost by asking them to buy their dresses. I'm also buying them a few other items so that there is no costs incurred outside their costs to attend. I was at the brides dress rehearsal earlier this month and I can tell you first hand the food IS delicious. For an AI the food truly is "Gourmet inclusive" as they promise. I think you will be very happy. In addition, yes an open bar is included in your private events Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I didn't...: but if I was having a night event on the beach I think I would have some out for guests... Since Mosquitos could also be an issue Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

There are sand fleas pretty much on every beach there- but I was out on the beach a bunch of times and didn't get bitten even though I've heard there were some. (Sensatori) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was going to do the "your presence is our present" thing but when I ran it past the FI, he thought it was offensive to even address gifts on our invite or website and to not bring it up at all. If people ask our family, we are simply having them say we do not want anything, We are leaving it as word of mouth. much like we would do had we chosen to register.

we are going to do ours on a night at the resort (Like guys go to the sports bar and girls to the Mojito lounge... that way its free (Well at least included in our already paid for trips)... we may do it as a couple different excursions vs. just at the resort.. but for sure we will be doing it down at our destination. Ours dont "raise money" or anything... so maybe our stag and doe concept is different! HAHAHA... ours is just like the bachelor and bachelorette parties!

Plated Main Dish - How To Choose?
kmk2016 replied to marinah84's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
People always associate the Tenderloin option as the "nicest"...even if it was all the same price. I would opt for a vegetarian option along with the Beef Tenderloin in Red Wine sauce... it's classic. -
Totally doable... and you found BDW... you are already ahead of the game! This website will be your best resource!!! Congrats on setting a date!

Yeah it's because its a charter through a tour operator (Like Apple Vacations). Many other Canadian brides here have been told by their TA's that they cant book that far out because they arent published yet... by my TA has great relationships with the tour operator and was able to submit the request in written form and got the pricing early.
