I believe the gazebos are the same size as over at Sensatori- so check with official Sensatori thread and you should see the dimension and recommended lenghts for shears for decor. Also, Fabricland in Northland Shoppes apparently has a good selection of bolts, for a cost of about $25-$50 for the entire bolt... or amazon has been helpful for many brides.

So you filled out the paperwork but didn't fax the form directly to Miami? You sent it to your TA to submit for you? And they were the ones to just sit on payment info for a month before faxing it in? Ahhhh sorry I thought you were still waiting for your date confirmation. Hopefully the end is near- this is certainly not the norm for waiting... I'm sure one this hurdle is reached you will be able to get into a rhythm of planning without some of this stress, Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

There are so many great locations... if you are looking at Bahamas as your destination, hop onto those forums and see what the brides there say! Another great idea is to reach out to a TA and ask her for some recommendations that meet your needs . Then come here and see what fellow planners think of those resorts- which will help you narrow it down!!! Lots of choices for sure! GOOD LUCK and CONGRATULATIONS!

If your TA set you up but you never got an initial email, it sounds like you aren't getting confirmation because your TA didn't supply all your information on the paperwork, so they are only liason-in with them. So you are waiting for a date confirmation? And then you need to fill out the paperwork and pay your deposit- THEN you can start working with your WC. When you get the paperwork to pay your deposit put all your info in there to make sure they have it. I bet they only have your TAs email right now! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's always best to book sooner than later with vendors. It locks you into a contract at their current price (inflation dictates that vendor prices rarely go down) and insures availability. If you know it's a vendor you want to use/ book it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yup- I hear ya- I did the same thing yesterday! She probably thought I was insane booking my dinner 18 months ahead Hahahaha... But I'm not willing to spend an extra $3000+ for no reason! She will just think she's dealing with an organized bunch of brides! I just hope it's all for not- and lomas has incorrect pricing posted! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Mine my WC sent me was also from 2010/11 so I was a bit worried when I sent her the email yesterday requesting my reception to be the family style at $39/adult, but low and behold she replied and added it to my detail sheet at this price. So long as it lands on the detail sheet- I think we can argue that the price should be honored/ especially if working off information THEY supply. I was just worried she would send me an email notifying me of the new pricing before I got my confirmation of meal in- so I did it super early. They may still come back and argue it- but at least I have something in writing confirming the price pertinent to my actual event. I may add a BBQ deluxe somewhere in my detail sheet just to hold pricing too! (As a welcome dinner or something lol) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just an FYI girls.,.. Over on the "fives" thread there is a big panic/discussion over a new banquet kit that a BDW bride found that claims to be new 2014 pricing. In it, prices have more than doubled for some things like family style dinners and the petit gourmet. I believe she pulled it from the lomas travel website/ but not entirely sure. ANYWAY, it's important to note that no one has been quoted these prices direct from their WC yet, so hopefully it is a giant error and the prices are not correct- however for anyone that has received a banquet kit from the WC but hasn't chosen their private meal type yet on their detail sheet, I would strongly recommend asking for it to be added and quote the price/pp you see on the banquet kit info your WC supplied. You can always change your plans or your meal preference up until your final deposit, but if this IS happening, it's best to have your detail sheet reflect the pricing you were quoted before they send out an amended price book. Again- the prices are SO wonky that I'm hoping it's an error- but id hate to have someone want the family style (for example) and be budgeting $39 and then go to add it to their sheet and be told it's now $89 (the new price according to the link) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Our rates definitely aren't higher because we went with a TA- it enabled us to get a rate MUCH better than our guests could try and find alone, plus gave us many perks that helped keep our wedding costs down. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Wow! I can't believe your TA blatantly lied to you last week saying she submitted and that WC department was just "backed up". Who knows... If she didn't bother to include YOUR email on the request; you won't even get a confirmation- it would go direct to your TA who sound a bit disorganized if you ask me!! I would definitely ensure that she submitted it at all (since when my TA submitted it was an instant notification that it had been received and awaiting processing. It has to be sent in electronically. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I don't know if my WC is any different than any others, but I had read the reviews about the department and how frustrating it can be, and tips to make it less chaotic...so right from the start I set a tone of professional yet friendly and nice. I always organize my commitments and questions in numbered format so that's it's easy to decipher my requests. I then end with a giant THANK YOU, and ask for my updated sheet (If I make any decisions) for my files. I print the most recent copy and work off that. (Saving all back copies in an electronic folder). You will need to bring your own a tape measure, at least I'm guessing! (We did) I did measuring on my off time- not during the guided site visit as it would be hard to stop the tour to do it then! I just went up there on my own on an afternoon where I saw there was no wedding. There is a sliding glass door but it's open! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sounds like Lolita (admittedly) got more free than even she had expected (bonus!!) but every piece of literature I have read in leading up to the event states free events are for 40 people included and you pay over that. Remember the tip to use your 40 for all adults in your party and THEN add your kids as they are cheaper! I must say though, on my detail sheet I have a cocktail reception booked immediately following my ceremony on the sky deck and the price for 60 guests is showing as $0.00 as a default, though it's likely because I haven't chosen a package for that yet (I won't - and will leave it as a free event as soon as my room block loads. My invites only went out a week ago, so my block will look sad right now! Hahah.... Though I'm happy to note that 27 people have already RSVP'd and booked! As for who gets the free events- that's something your GI certified TA may have a hand in- and may not be the same for everyone).... So don't quote me on that as I'm working with a GI TA and I don't know if yours is as well. You will meet the head cheese at the BDR... When do you go again (sorry I had forgotten you haven't been!).... A good idea is to write all these questions down and ask your WC directly when there,,,. And then simply email Miami and say "as per BDR I am...." Your WC should be sending you a revised Detail Sheet attached to every conversation/ change she makes (at least mine does which is awesome!).... Whenever we add anything or I spot a mistake (they are human), I send a quick note- asking for the changes, and I get a new clean version of my detail sheet back. But don't worry... A Miami wedding coordinator is not going to "mess up" your wedding... They are really just a helper until you get to the resort. It's once you are there working with the actual onsite WC that the magic happens. Be kind, know what you want and how you envision it, bring lots of notes and questions and they WILL make it happen! I haven't read a post in this thread (and yes as part of my research I read it all), that hasn't confirmed that Miami makes it stressful but onsite gets it all to come together. FAVOR: can you, when at the BDR measure the white gazebo on the sky deck for us brides? @@murmel doesn't have the true dimensions since the change on the official thread and it would be amazing if you can get the basic measurements (height, width, depth and any other useful ones) of the gazebo so that we can have the proper size from which to order fabric! I don't know why I didn't do this when I was down there last month! I thought it was already posted but it wasn't!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

From past openings, Hyatt Ziva hotels are normally other resorts who are being rebranded and purchased by Hyatt. With a little help from google, I noticed this we the former Ritz Carlton Rose Hall resort- so start by reading the reviews from there and it will give you an idea (minus the amenities) I stayed at the Barcelo Palace Deluxe 3 months before it converted to Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos and then again after conversion and there weren't many changes aside from the name on the door. Do you have a TA???? These are types of things your TA can be stepping in and sorting out for you!!! Especially if they are GI certified! My TA told me straight up that I could copy her on all my correspondence during the planning process, or circle her in whenever things needed her help. As you know, the "head cheese" points out the fact that even if you've booked- the $500 for the BDR is given, right at the event during the EDR visit. For both the free events and the BDR credit you need to hit your minimum guest requirements, but once you hit that it should be automatic. If you have hit that with your room block- and it's not noted on your detail sheet- have it updated and your perks should activate. As mentioned- I would really get your TA to work through some of this for you though! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sport Bottles Vs Tumblers
kmk2016 replied to NixSpade's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Gotcha! Me neither! I just think sport bottles/water bottles may be harder to rinse out all those delicious blended drinks vs an insulated cup or even a stadium cup as some have suggested. I haven't figured out what I'm going to do either... But will probably do stadium cups... Since they are much cheaper and can still be used easily by guests during the week. UPDATE- I just got a confirmation from Lynda with a revised detail sheet reflecting my request for the family style dinner. I currently have an estimate of 60 guests loaded on my detail sheet, and she added the family style meal to my private reception for a total of $2340 and listed all the items included in that menu. Doing the math, she has confirmed the price of $39 on my detail sheet Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Fiance's Father Not Coming To Our Wedding!
kmk2016 replied to NJBride2014's topic in Just venting or funnies
It definitely sounds like mental illness is at play here... I hope that he can figure out a way to come without being pushed so far to climb out of his current comfort zone. Maybe without feeling the pressure from everyone, and just he and his wife.. they can talk and figure out a way for him to attend. GOOD LUCK!!!! -
Fiance's Father Not Coming To Our Wedding!
kmk2016 replied to NJBride2014's topic in Just venting or funnies
Does he have an anxiety disorder? It sounds like it from your initial description of his behaviour. Could it be that over the last 2 years he was trying to convince himself that he could get on a plane, leave his house and be there for such an important event, but when the gravity of the situation became real (tickets purchased, date approaching etc), he just couldn't do it? Sometimes an actual psychological disorder could be masked as stubbornness, especially in that generation, because admitting he's terrified or unable to get past his fears is worse than just coming across as a grumpy old man. I would really not panic.... Yet. When you get your confirmation, she will send you ALL the information, including a banquet kit with pricing. As soon as you get this, open it and look at what THE COPY SHE SENDS YOU says. If it still says $39 get her to add it to your detail sheet ASAP. Like I said, she sent me a banquet kit less than a week ago, and the pricing is still the ones expected- so I fully expect her to put that price on my sheet or she will be getting an earful! I would personally do two versions... It will keep your invites looking clean and you can maintain the same style for both your French and English versions. Simply design and the input the translated text in the French version before printing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Holy crap! Not sure where that banquet kit came from, but I JUST Received a banquet kit from my WC and the price is still $39 on it (I went back and looked when I read this) I am going to send in my request for it now... Hoping to get it on my detail sheet for the $39. I know they can adjust pricing afterward because my wedding isn't this year, but by putting the price on paper I would have an argument to keep relatively close!! Strange!!! Here is the link to the pricing my WC just sent me, I'm thinking the weddingsbylomas website is not correct. http://www.karismahotels.com/Portals/0/Files/Weddings/WeddingBanquetKit_0.pdf Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

After thinking on this, I think it will still work, but when the hotel is prepping quantities they will not factor in kids. There is still plenty of food by the looks of things, so "stealing" a bit of something here or there on the buffet to add to the child's plate, certainly wouldn't be a big deal. This is something I would work with the on site with, I would simply tell Miami that I would have 45 (for example) adults having the BBQ deluxe and 5 kids who will be ordering off the kids meal there at the resort for no charge, don't pose it as a question- put it in your details sheet as a statement.
