  1. . Freeze dried petals are allowed! That could be an option!? You can buy them online and bring them with you- apparently they pack well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Taking a week to hear back from the Miami team is typical and in looking at other resorts (not karisma), it seems almost all companies face this same delay. Problem lies in the fact they are coordinating for anywhere between 5-10 weddings a day between all the properties because there are only a handful of them in the office- multiply that by the number of brides planning weddings over a 1.5-2 year period and they are swamped. As long as you know it takes that long, and formulate communication with clear questions... I have heard it gets much better for most brides leading up the your wedding date. 3. Ahhh yeah that's totally fine! Lots of brides are doing that! It's the outside DJs being flown in or from outside companies around Mexico that aren't allowed any longer. Congrats! Have a fabulous wedding!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Just as a caution- karisma recently stopped allowing outside DJ vendors (even if the $800 fee was applied)... Not sure what promoted this decision but brides being married recently have been reported back that they no longer allow it. I also asked at my dress rehearsal and was told that they are not permitted. (I'm at sensatori but asked for all locations because at the time I wasn't certain what karisma property I would be marrying at.) I would double check that you are permitted to bring an outside DJ. Id hate if you brought/rented all the equipment and then weren't allowed to set up! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Word of warning not specific to RIU. Most hotels will put them in rooms for you at a cost, (usually $3-$4 a bag), but I have yet to hear a successful story of this happening without glitch from brides here- regardless of hotel. It always seems bags get lost, Delivered to wrong rooms or aren't delivered til near end of trip! I orginally was ok with paying the fee, but have since changed my mind when hearing these horror stories! I now am going to hand them out at our welcome event. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. If you are American you can't go wrong with Wright Travel and they would be the only TA I would use... Especially with karisma! If you are Canadian (like me), I am using Laurie Lee Rosser (a few of us on this site are) and she is fabulous... Id recommend her to anyone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Truth be told, when brides take down a friend or "from home photographer" who doesn't apply for a work visa in Mexico (or other foreign country), the same thing can happen. Even if they are coming down to shoot your wedding and no-one else's.... If it can be confirmed that they were "paid" for their services this can lead to a lot of problems (paid can be paying for their trip to Mexico.) it's always advised that if you have someone from home travelling to photograph and attend your wedding, and it's in a country outside your own- they should apply for the work permit. Lots don't bother... But this is the risk you take! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Usually dresses end up looking just fine after a session- salt water doesn't wreck the dress (and is less harmful than dry cleaning chemicals!)... Trash the dress is more of an expression in most cases. Obviously if you dump oil based paints on it or something it would be ruined/ but most brides after crazy beautiful underwater shots (for example) hang their dress to dry after a quick rinse and you can't even tell! 9. I see you are from canada... But you booked direct with hotel? Does this mean you didn't do a package with air/hotel/transfer? It's one of the advantages (one of the only ones haha) of being Canadian when booking an AI. Our package deals are often MUCH better than nightly rates via resort. If you haven't started your bookings or put down a large deposit I would strongly recommend getting a TA to get you quotes for packages your guests can book. Plus you might get some great perks by doing so! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Every hotel allows only one adult in a room- you just need to ask your TA what the single occupancy rate is for your various room types reserved. Obviously rates are normally based on double occupancy so when they are only getting one person in the room it is more expensive, and conversely when there are 3-4 people in the room it works out to be less $/pp. We got pricing for single, double and quad occupancy. 11. If beach and ocean color are your top priority I'm not sure why your TA would recommend sensatori since these are the only 2 things that are considered downsides to this fabulous resort! It was however wheelchair friendly aside 1 half flight of stairs up to the sky deck... We saw many people enjoying the resort when there, who were wheelchair bound. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Are you going to try and time it with the BDR? You should- you get $500 back for attending! Plus you get a better sense of their weddings. They have one every month! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Who delivered them? (FedEx, canada post etc) I'm tempted to order a batch now to save on shipping and then more later if I need to! Such a good deal! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. My singles were welcome to bring someone along as a guest- or if they want help finding a roomie I would offer to help pair them... But so far our singles want their own room and have booked that way. We ended up getting them a great rate of only an extra $200 for the single supplement Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Nope- none were to our liking so we chose to bite the bullet with an outside photographer. We have a professional photographer travelling for our wedding and considered using her (she offered her service if we covered her travel) but in the end I didn't want to mix friendship with something that can't be fixed if the pics are what we wanted. Plus I wanted her to enjoy herself. We ended up choosing to go with bicoastal and I'm thrilled with what they offered us and their photos are gorgeous! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. You're lucky!!! Us Karisma brides pay an $800 outside vendor fee! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. The Karisma properties all have Qtips/cotton balls as well... Just in case their properties were under consideration. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Of course you are going less beachy and more Parisian chic! We are so having the same wedding lol. Hahahaha that's kind of how I would like to describe our plan... I just didn't have a name for it! I'm going to have a chandelier hanging in the outdoor gazebo, Chivari chairs, big peony and ranunculus flowers at the gazebo for the ceremony... Etc Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. You did an awesome job!!!!!! Congrats! I agree that pulling a few ideas from the karisma magical moments and DIY them is the way to go- and you rocked it!!! Well done! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. You definitely can NOT bring your own unless you are travelling by car. Air travel strictly prohibits flight with them as they are highly combustible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Confirm with your resort but most are Ok with Sparklers. You can usually buy them from your wedding department at the resort as they are a prohibited item by the FAA for air travel. If not you can likely buy them at the local Walmart in Cancun. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Matches are only permitted in your carry on and limited to one pack per traveller. Aloe is fine to pack in your checked baggage... And sparklers are a total no-no. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. . Nope not doing bouquets. I found them on Pinterest and was going to use it as inspiration before I decided against carrying them. I think if you had this as your guide you could build something similar with flowers from michaels. I saw most of these shades/types when I was there last in real touch varieties! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I think there are some orchids in there too- some of those are likely pricy depending on season- but I'm sure you could get quotes using it as an inspiration! Pinterest has a ton of beautiful inspiration in different color pallets! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
