  1. Welcome! There are many rose hall brides here in the forum! I believe they have their own thread of brides planning away for their special day! Make sure you introduce yourself there!!! There are lots of helpful brides here who can offer ideas, suggestions or a shoulder to vent on! So enjoy and happy planning!
  2. First of all... Congrats and welcome to the forum! I have never been a fan of making any mention of gifts or a registry anywhere on an invitation- I just have always thought it was better communicated quietly through family or at most placed discretely on your wedding website. I may be in the minority though since I am respectfully declining all gifts and have asked for a shower not to be thrown. It's my second wedding and in addition those coming to the wedding will be spending a significant amount to attend and I didn't want any type of insinuated expectation for gifts on my part. Others may give you different suggestions though! The brides here are great.
  3. They save a bin for wedding dresses and lay them in there. They don't get crammed in with suitcases. They are accustomed to brides on their flights and will take care of your dress!
  4. You can definitely do the floating candles.,. Just ensure whatever brand you buy comes with anchor weights since there is a significant "current" at this end of the pool and your decorations will float away otherwise!
  5. Mojitos is upstairs and off the lobby, Zocalo Terrace is directly off the beach in between buildings 2 and 3. Depending on where your ceremony is, and whether you want to get out of the sun and indoors for a while, would also be a factor. During the day Mojitos is very empty and run with limited staff... So if this is your destination maybe mention this to your onsite planner when you meet so they can ensure they have staff there to welcome your guests.
  6. I think many do this. It may be a nice touch to choose a specific bar (zocalo terrace bar for example) and say in your program "informal cocktails at Zocolo terrace immediately following ceremony... This allows those that want to freshen up to sneak away, but provides a destination for others who want to mingle and have a bevy before the reception.
  7. There are dress makers that will use this dress as inspiration and recreate it for you. Many brides do this (I'm planning on doing so myself) and there are some very trusted and reputable companies that thousands of brides use. Just an option!
  8. Have you considered having it made custom to your measurements? It's cute! And an option for sure!!

    Newbie!

Welcome and congrats! You have come to the right place and will get tons of great advice and ideas from fellow brides! Start by checking out the Jamaica and DR forums and see if any resorts jump out at you- and then the fun planning begins! A great TA and the girls on this board are all you need to create a magical wedding!
  10. Yeah we always use ours whenever we travel too- but I head to the bar and they fill it there- so that's likely why! The one time we forgot them I was sooo annoyed that my Miami vice was melting too fast! Haha
  11. Hello @@CurlyKD! Welcome! glad to have you here!!! Te brides here are all awesome..., you will get NO work done as you spend hour upon hour planning your big day and getting ideas from these boards! Just wanted to say welcome!!! (Ps- add tapatalk to your iPhone so you can check in via mobile too- great for getting updates as your big day approaches!)
  12. A good travel agent will be able to get you a quote from the tour operators well before they are released. (I had my quote in hand and bookings started in June 2014 for my Feb 2016 wedding) your strategy is an excellent one- also look here once you have narrowed it down to your top 3 or so, and see how the wedding planning has been for past brides at your selected resorts. What hidden costs, frustrations or bonuses might sway your final decision! Sounds like you are doing a great job at finding your perfect resort!!
  13. Agreeing with PP that you don't need to bring anything down, however if there are specific things you want to include in your symbolic ceremony like special verses, a sand ceremony or personal vows, have those ready for your onsite meeting with the planners and bring a second copy for the officiant the day of the wedding in case your coordinator misplaces them. As for not hearing from your planner at the resort- that is crazy! I would certainly keep pushing for contact- over 2 months going without response is stressful I'm sure!
  14. I'm February 2016 and a major planner... We already have over 80 people booked, our photographer, mariachi and venues reserved, our website up and running, our invites long since mailed and our OOT bags well under way. Next steps, ordering my dress!
  15. @@ShaeShae36 it's against the boards policy to promote groups on facebook- but I agree it's a fabulous resort with lots of great options for brides!
  16. I don't have advice specific to your resort, but if you have an email /quote in writing saying $60/table I would hold them to that. Simply reply to THAT email when extending your time, and give them your total expense (ie: we would like to extend our reception by 4 hours for all 4 tables at $60/table for a total of $960. Thank you)
  17. Hahah or you can do like me- and not tell my mom (or friends or my FI for that matter) what I'm buying so that they can't convince me it was an unnecessary expense!
  18. Welcome! You will love it here! HAPPY PLANNING!
  19. What season is your wedding? Often times peony are available but VERY expensive.... It's why many brides choose the real touch version of this flower... I love them too!
  20. Most airlines will NOT count your dress as one of your personal items and will give that to you as a freebie... So if you can place your FI's suit in the same garment bag this will help out!
  21. Our hotel offers this service as well.... I would definitely look into it via your hotel and see if they can offer you a quote or show you an example... Maybe check with past brides on this forum who got married at your specific resort
  22. Hang in there and try to not let it stress you out! Hopefully they get their acts together soon!!!
