  1. WJ does not have a first class cabin, the closest to it is "plus"... Which is awesome but I don't think they upgrade here. It's worth you grabbing these and paying the $35 fee at 24hr out though! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I think I just earned that title because I'm old hahaha! I live on my computer/cell for my job so I hop on regularly... And I'm an über planner and have found a ton of amazing info here... So it wasn't hard for me to rack up the posts apparently! Apparently I'm chatty! Haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Your TA sometimes has special deals, your tour operator (canada) or the resort depending on the month.... On the Karisma website you will see the free events offered and the criteria that are required. There are sometimes bonus ones not mentioned but those are generally through T/A as a GI certified rep. 4. Our reception does not include cocktail hour, that is a separate piece. The three hours is for private open bar during dinner and reserved location for dinner/dance. (Mine is 4 hrs included but deemed for reception) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. FYI zulily has some cute ones now... That are under $50! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I would use wright travel (runs this site and gets awesome reviews from American brides!)... In this day and age it is more important to have an agent who specializes in destination weddings and who have great partnerships with the resorts! A TA can be located anywhere in the US and do a great job for you! I would go with an expert rather than a local agency. Good luck and happy planning!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. We are doing pretty basic as well. Bag, tervis (or similar) cup and inflatable pool mattress (our resort doesn't supply them but sells them in resort store for super pricy). Then just a few DIY paper projects (door hanger, program, etc) There will be a few beach toys for the rooms with kids. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. If you have some time, sites like myhabit, beyondtherack and zulily almost have weekly "kids formalwear" with adorable flower girl dresses for totally cheap! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Ahhhhhhh I am sooooo sorry you are dealing with this stress!!!!!! Will WestJet allow for an extension? Sometimes if your TA has a good relationship with their travel department they will honor that type of thing... But it sounds like if your BFFs aren't coming because of trying for babies etc then that may not even matter. (If you truly can't see yourself marrying if they aren't there) Oh hun.... I wish there was something I could suggest!! Maybe check on your resort page for other brides marrying around same time who can use 3 rooms? If it's truly sold out, other brides may be in a panic for rooms Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. So if these people don't come.... Will it ruin your day? It sounds like you have amazing family travelling all the way from UK, and what about your parents? Sounds like your brother will come through with a little push no? I really hope this works out for you!!! If the price goes up because they didn't book in time to get the group pricing- their loss. Can your TA confirm that it's in sold out status? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Ok breathe.... It will be ok. So is the problem that there are still some that are committed to coming but don't want to commit before your deadline in "3" days? If so, let them know ASAP that the hotel appears to be sold out and that if they truly want to be there for you and FI, they really need to booking using your TA ASAP. If you truly think that you will not hit your room commitment how much will the penalty be? Who left are your "absolute must be there" people... I would seriously write them a heartfelt email or call them simply reiterate your thoughts- that without them there you don't know if you can go through with the wedding and you hope they can book before your deadline. Hugs!!!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Post is from 2012. FYI Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Just as an FYI that most if not all of these posts do in fact have the pictures posted within them. If they are too old, the thread OP could remove the pics and that is why you cant see them. Now that you have 150 posts you should be able to see everything. But keep in mind, normally anything older than 6 months post wedding, the OP may not check back.
  14. I love navy and blush.... Pinterest has a ton of grooms in navy this season with coral, pink and blush flowers as accent. It will look stunning. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I admit... My first wedding was a ridiculous cost that could have been put against something far more important... We were well over 50k and only had 120 guests... (Venue had a firm capacity).... So this time around we are budgeting for 15k not including the rings. My dad helped almost entirely for my first wedding- this time it's all FI and I, so we are really trying to keep our budget under control! P Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I plan on celebrating both! Hahahaha since my symbolic date is a leap year (feb 29) I think I deserve to get double the celebration every 4 years! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. It's allowed at Karisma resorts... Just be aware that they tend to "move" through the pool so if it's a large pool, they may disappear before the end of your reception. A good idea is to get anchor weights on them that will keep them in place and not float down the pool. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. It's the USA... So rules are the same for Americans as a domestic wedding. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Wow... I feel this post is a bit judgemental- and certainly don't like the implication that we are "ripping our guests off by not having a real wedding"... Our wedding will be very real. IF we did a legal ceremony in Mexico the entire ceremony is required to be done in Spanish (at our resort) my guests would be sitting there not a part of our special moment because about 1/10th of them speak Spanish. IF we did a legal ceremony in Mexico we would need to arrive 4 business days prior to wedding date, and the only Canadian tour operator that has rights to our hotel would have us arriving 3 business days before our wedding date (a special date). IF we did a legal ceremony in Mexico we would be required to do blood test in our hotel. I'm not comfortable doing this- I will have never met this doctor and have no idea how clean their practices are. IF we did a legal ceremony in Mexico, I would need to have my divorce papers translated. I have an over 200 page divorce docket that was very detailed. Average price is $5 a page. No thank you. IF we did a legal ceremony in Mexico I would need to get a lengthy amount of additional paperwork completed that is not simple because although I am divorced, I chose to keep my name of my former husband for the sake of our children. This is not common or generally heard of by the Mexican courts and it complicates things greatly. A REAL wedding isn't a stamp on a paper by a judge. It's the gathering of those whose hearts are invested in our own... Who's strength and support has brought us to the celebration of our union... And the gathering of loved ones witnessing a promise between two people who commit to loving one another for a lifetime. My family and friends most certainly will be attending a REAL wedding when they travel to witness our symbolic ceremony. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. The cards for the kids? Since it's Halloween time, I always see small kids decks of cards at target and Walmart that people give as Halloween treats. They often have cartoon characters on them from Disney but you can get a dozen for a couple bucks! They are nice and small and would fit perfect! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Yes will totally use that budget toward getting it done in the spa- they have great reviews so I'm happy with that. Other BMs are all booked and super pumped about the wedding. Planning on enjoying time with them here on in with no drama! As for her and I figuring out how to move past this- she deleted me on FB haha... Ok- high school much? Lol... In any event- the passive aggressive thing doesn't really work for me- so whatever. Glad I nipped this craziness in the butt when I did! The girl obviously had some serious issues she was unwilling to talk through with me. Moving onward and upward. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Azul beach has a much more intimate boutique hotel feel where as el dorado/generations is very spread out and not as unique feeling. A great feature of Beach would be that your guests would not be as spread apart and would feel a lot more like a trip with friends and family. I don't think it's an issue at all not having kids attend and staying there! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. The DJs that are both lomas approved (all music and mega) get great reviews from past brides and don't incur the $800 outside vendor fee! Dorremixx gets great reviews as well but ensure that you factor that cost into their pricing when considering. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. With the help you find here you can totally do it with just a good TA and the resort supplied WC! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. I've never seen a resort that doesn't offer "standard decor and place settings" with their private menu events. It's when you want to fancy it up and do something special or unique where there are added costs. It's a good reminder for future brides to research not only things like proximity to the beach and the room amenities, but to do your research on your resorts wedding packages and what is/isn't included before moving forward. For us- I wasn't keen on a big inclusive wedding package that had things like photos and flowers because, I would rather select the elements that were important and pay for those separately rather than get inclusions I wouldn't use. YES this style feels like nickle and diming at times but id rather pay a premium for what I want rather than waste a bit of cash of useless stuff!! That's just me!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
