Renting A Charter Bus?
kmk2016 replied to Maggietron's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
I don't think you need to coordinate this for your guests. People know that they need to make their way to the airport.... It's a super nice gesture but save the $... IMO -
Lots of threads on the casitas.... Do a quick search and you will find great info! I visited for our dress rehearsal and it was stunning and serene. You will love it!

Travel Agent Response Time?
kmk2016 replied to Maggietron's topic in Canadian Destination Wedding Group
Yup and she is awesome. Try calling her.. Could be a spam filter issue for sure. She also waited for almost a month on sunwing to get back to her on a query I had, so they are brutal and she may have forgotten they didn't follow up and let it slip- no excuse.. But it's so out of character for her to not be prompt in her replies! She is great on the phone. -
Travel Agent Response Time?
kmk2016 replied to Maggietron's topic in Canadian Destination Wedding Group
Feeling bad this happened to you! I hear back from her when I call immediately if she doesn't pick up... And when I email she emails back within the day. I know that she's busy, but not THAT busy. Service has been fantastic for me with her... No complaints. -
I read that too- and that's the first case of this I have ever read about in the thousands of posts about bringing items in... I'm not deterred. We don't know the entire scenario and it very well could have been that her bags/boxes appeared suspicious for other reasons and her boxes were gone through and items confiscated and destroyed for reasons totally unrelated to wedding favors. There is noting wrong with bringing items in that you don't plan on selling- and customs wouldn't just take them for no reason. (It was one instance relayed by a friend of someone it happened too, it didn't appear to be a pattern) Not worried and still planning on packing them in checked luggage.

Guests Not Booking Through Travel Agent
kmk2016 replied to kellymiller's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Mine was same way. Total guests booking package. (Land only guests did not qualify toward numbers) -
A day pass will not suffice for your photographer and videographer. You will need 3 nights stay in the hotel, or the vendor fee. Katy the girl with all the decor will meet you in Pdc to get you your items, so no outside vendor fee- just a taxi and the set up fee the hotel charges for decorating and setting up your area. There is no charge for a table used for your guest book- just mention it at your onsite meeting upon arrival.

Would This Be An Awkward Sleeping Arrangement?
kmk2016 replied to nadiakat17's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I agree that the likelihood of needing the privacy because you're getting lucky may be slim on your wedding night... But it may be nice for your then DH to have some privacy with his new wife on the evening/morning without his inlaws in the next room. I think it's a nice offer and it would probably mean more to your FI than to you since it's your family... But nothing wrong with spending just a quiet few hours with just your new hubby! I would accept the offer. -
We have 80+ people confirmed and most if not all like to dance- so we will be having a DJ.

Tumbler / Koozie Sayings
kmk2016 replied to MorganRene's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Agreed. I have been to 30+ all inclusives and it's very rare to see bottles anywhere out and about at the resort. Small 8oz plastic cups are the norm- filled with either drinks or draft. -
It's also often used when bringing together more than just the couple, but incorporating kids or extend family as part of this new union.

Welcome! Did you look in the destination forum for your specific resort? You will find a lot of help from fellow and former brides in the planning forums where your resort will have lots of information and several threads! Congrats and best of luck!

The work permit has nothing to do with your resort- it has to do with a person working illegally in a foreign country (your photographer) without proper approval from the government to gainfully earn an income (room and board) in that country. To be honest I don't even know is you can attain a permit for this type of work since it's hard to argue that a local could not provide the same services. (Normally this is the determining factor in granting a work permit) Sure- they could tell the Mexican government that they are simply coming to Mexico on vacation to watch their friends get married... But if they are stopped and professional equipment or disks containing wedding pictures that are more than typical "vacation photos" are discovered it could land them in big trouble. The laws exist to protect local workers from foreigners stealing their opportunity to earn a living... Just as they do in the US and Canada (and likely every country) for those visiting the country planning to work under the table. I'm not saying people don't do this all the time- but I also have heard of locals tipping off when this is happening- since there are definitely disgruntled local photographers who know this is happening and want to put a stop to it....and I just couldn't stomach taking the risk without proper paperwork to allow my friend to work without fear of getting caught. Mexico is not somewhere I would want to do anything illegal!

Advice from past brides was to use makeup sponges to fill all the open spaces and pack it tight for the travel home.

Ohhhh I must go back and look! They must have done one recently for Sensatori!!! Love it! Please note- that your from home photographer should look into getting a work visa to shoot your wedding. Most get away with working in Mexico shooting weddings like this without a problem- but others have has issues and the LAST place I would want to break the law would be Mexico and I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if anything happened! I had originally planned to have a from home photographer shoot our wedding but ended up going with a local- this was one of the reasons. Too risky. (Room and board is considered payment so just because cash isn't being exchanged they would still legally require a work visa)
