I'm in Canada and most of our packages are for one week so that's fine with me!
The only thing that concerns me at Playacar is that it's a small resort and could get booked up before all my guests book... and I've heard the beach has a lot of randoms on it during the wedding ceremonies! -
WOW congrats on choosing and great planning ahead!
I'm getting worried because I'm hoping for Aug 1 2015 but haven't booked it yet! I need to get on that.
I keep second guessing myself on resorts. I think I'm committed to Palace but can't decide now between Moon/Beach/Playacar! -
Sooo frustrating! Maybe have a deadline date and everyone has to respond by that date and that's the end of that! Once they pay they probably won't be allowed to change their mind!

I'm getting married the week before you, so let's cross our fingers for good weather! Don't stress out, I've been to Mexico twice in August and it was fine both times. It rained a couple days in the afternoon for an hour or so but didn't ruin the trip at all, in fact it was a good time to go to the gym/nap/take a shower and it cools things down!

Does anyone know anything about doing a midnight snack/buffet at Moon Palace? Does it count as a separate event since it's past midnight?

@@tygrrlily Hope you have an amazing trip! Update us with any info you find out!

Hi everyone,
First of all, thanks for all the info on this thread! It's been very helpful. I had originally picked Moon Palace but after looking through all the information posted on this amazing site I'm re-thinking my decision and considering Azul Fives or other Karisma resorts.
Does anyone know what the cost for a banquet reception is? And what about other private events (I would like to do a private rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding). How much does it cost to extend the reception for a few extra hours? I want my guests to enjoy themselves and dance until 2am! Is there an extra cost for the ceremony if there are more than 40 people?
Thanks so much guys! It's been such a frustrating process trying to figure out how much my wedding is going to cost! Every resort is different and it seems that every resort changes their rules and adds vendor fees, etc.. I already wasted 6 months of my engagement on just trying to pick a resort and I'm losing my mind! -
Great, I'll investigate the wedding packages from the Karisma resorts. Thanks!

@@tygrrlily Bride's Project was great! There was a pretty good selection of dresses, a lot of satin a-line but there were a bunch of lace dresses too. I didn't find anything I liked, but it was worth going!

Thanks! Any particular resort recommendations?
-
Great! I'll keep an eye out for sales. A few years ago I purchased a bridesmaid dress from J Crew for about the same, it was like $80-90 or so.
Never thought about silk chiffon, that would be a good option too. I was also looking at the Alfred Angelo dresses that are silk and look really comfortable! I'll see what the girls think.
-
Anyone have any recommendations for cotton bridesmaid dresses? Or any other material that would be lightweight and won't show sweat!
I want my girls to be comfortable and having been a bridesmaid for 2 destination weddings, I know it's really uncomfortable wearing a dress made of chiffon or silk (especially in Mexico in August!).I know J Crew has great dresses, but the prices are a little high. I'm hoping for the girls to spend under $150 each if possible.
Thanks!

Hi everyone,
I'm expecting 120-150 guests for my wedding. I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for resorts that would work well for a large group and would still keep costs reasonable. I am hoping to have a private banquet hall reception with the party lasting til 2am or so.A lot of the "complementary" options won't work since I would like a private reception.
I initially was looking at the Dreams or Barcelo resorts, but they charge a lot per person for ceremony set up, meals, alcohol, extending the reception, etc. The Palace resorts offer unlimited events (since I will have a lot more than 75 nights!) but reading reviews I keep hearing Palace tends to nickel and dime you. I am leaning towards Moon Palace right now but I would love to hear others' opinions or recommendations!
Thanks in advance! -
How do I go about actually booking my wedding at Moon Palace? Does my travel agent have to do it or should I just contact the resort directly?
I also had another question, does the resort confirm time/location for your events in advance?
I want to make menu cards and a welcome package with the itinerary (time and location of events so my guests know in advance where they have to be for the welcome dinner, rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception).
Thanks!! -
Yeah, there shouldn't be duty, since they are gifts and are not going to be staying in the country.
-
I feel so behind! Wedding is Aug 2015 and I'm hoping to send STD's out by Aug 2014. I'm hoping to get people to book 8-10 months in advance, the rates are just way too high right now.
-
I'm going to have a shower, but I'm not expecting gifts. I just want to celebrate and play games! haha. I'm not going to say "no gifts" but I'm not expecting people to bring gifts. If they do, that's great, if not, it's no big deal.

@@jackielemman would you be able to send me that info too? I am sending you my email! : ) Thanks!
@@TheBHolders Great questions! There must be an extra set up fee for over 30 ppl for the ceremony, but I don't know what it is! For the reception, if you have 75 room nights and you do a buffet, I believe everything is included. If you want to extend your reception it's $60/hr per table. Plated meal is $35/pp. There is an extra set up fee if you want the beach and areas that are more difficult to set up. Plus the cost of any decorations or upgrades.
Hope that helps! -
That's great! I love prezi's! What a great idea!

@ I have not signed a contract with the TA, only met once and have been emailing a few times.
@@acw271011 Thanks that's very helpful! So when is the best time to book? LOL. I imagine 6-8 months before departure for a large group?
-
I really want a sequin party dress to change into for the reception!
I'm also totally going to wear white all week at the resort! We're also going to have a white party for our welcome dinner! -
Thanks! I really want to give her a chance, because the wedding is still over a year away I think that's why the rates are still so high. I'll give it until July and if no luck I'll look into another TA!

Ours worked out perfectly, 7 on each side! My sister will be my MOH and my fiance has two best men. We are having a larger wedding (for a destination wedding), I'm estimating 120 guests. I just called them and asked them!

@@yancn From what I understand, it's $60 per table per hour to extend your reception.
