I plan on ordering fake flowers for my wedding from bloom as well! I also got a quote and honestly I'm loving it. I'm packing my flowers in a spare luggage and bringing them with me! The resort flowers are ridiculous and the beach will be decoration enough so the flowers will just be icing on the cake! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I just read on trip advisor that someone had a large wedding there recently any brides in BDWF? Please write a review and give us the details! I'm bringing some of my own decor. My wedding coordinator said to go to the goodwill and purchase and old suitcase and fill that one up all the wedding decorations and give it to the coordinator when you arrive in Mexico then discard after the wedding. I'm bringing my own reception table clothes, center pieces, vases, candles and cocktail table bows to name a few. We are also bringing our own sound system bc they charge $250 per event for sound. We qualify for the unlimited events so we are having a welcome cocktail party, rehearsal dinner, reception, wedding cocktail party, and farewell brunch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

@@girlinthecity97 things are really good. You're 6 months away! That's great I know this point is stressful for everyone. GRM is an amazing resort you will have the wedding of a lifetime! Go have some wedding chat with your girlfriends over a cocktail after trying on dresses you will be in the mood! As far as planning you have up until the last minute to finalize everything with the onsite planner via lomas so relax I'm right there with you. Hurry up and get your dress tho you don't want any issues getting what you want in time Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Save The Dates - When To Send? What To Include?
rtscent replied to angelajackson's topic in Newbies!!
Hi Angela, One of the biggest challenges with brides having destination weddings is getting their guest to actually book their accommodations. This is why I would highly recommend doing a STD. I had almost 50% of my guest book and pay for their accommodations after sending a physical STD. Which is now 28 rooms, 50 guests. I sent my STD a year in advance (30 days before the group deposit was due). I sent out an electronic STD from my wedding website, as well as a 5x6 postcard type STD. I didn't get hung up on the theme, just selected real images from the resort and had a nice design laid out. My friend who is a graphic designer did the artwork for the postcard, and I had them printed @ Overnightprints.com. I would highly recommend them. My total print job for 100 postcards full color with spot UV + envelopes plus 2 day shipping came out to $97 bucks. I also had a majority of my guests book and pay on time, which really helps with planning your reception and event details. I think the nice postcard really got people excited about the wedding. I plan on sending my invitations 6 months out, and these will be more of a travel guide / brochure / package type of presentation. I will already know who is coming at this point. Attached is a pic of the front of my STD postcard, the backside had all of the travel arrangement information and TA contact information. What to include: Wedding Date Wedding Location Instructions on How to book their room and by when (on the backside) Link to your wedding website A blurb about the resort- 23 replies

@@Aliyedwinramirez thanks for sharing. It looks like your last 2 pictures did come through I emailed you to see the rest. So excited! I was feeling a little on the fence about the pier because I don't like enclosed locations (slightly claustrophobic) was it spacious? I'm glad to hear about the construction of the sky weddings, I would rather have my ceremony there or in the chapel. I need to avoid the beach with my dress;) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

A tour of destination weddings at Karisma Resorts.

Fabulous review. We're getting married at Generations Riviera Maya and honeymooning at El Dorado Castitas Royale -
My wedding planner just spent several weeks at all 3 resorts Generations Maroma, GRM, Castitas etc. she said that Generations Maroma has a better beach than GRM, however this is a much smaller boutique type resort and not that great for large parties like weddings. She thought it was a better option for a secluded honeymoon. It also isn't as fun as GRM because you can use all 3 resorts and access more restaurants etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

@@Aliyedwinramirez congrats on the wedding plans! I'm getting married May 25, 2015 @ GRM and honeymooning at the El Dorado Castitas. I got a group rate through my TA/WP. For my group the average nightly rate is $232 per person / per night. We are looking into flights now. I want to get married in the Chapel, but my wedding party might be too big for the chapel or the terrace, so most likely we will be on the beach. Take a bunch of pictures on your trip and have fun. Please email me your pictures or post them on the thread! Here is my email address melissamelange@@gmail.com

@@girlinthecity97 so we are not using any outside vendors as of yet. I don't know how everything is getting out of control, but I'm way over budget already. I currently have 44 guests, I'm assuming I'm going to have a big wedding, so I'm hopeful that we will qualify for some of the wedding promotions, i'm working with Valeria now to try to find out what I already qualify for. My hair and makeup people are coming as guests so I don't need to worry about that! Do you have a wedding planner / travel agent for your group?

@@girlinthecity97 so you're going "outside" for photography?!!! I don't know if I can take on another $800. I will take a look at your vendor though. What about your honeymoon. We are going to spend a few nights at Castitas then go to Maroma where they have that fabulous beach for another 5 days.

@@girlinthecity97 In regards to the deposits,Try these tips, they seemed to have worked for me: 1. Send out email/blog posts showing them how to make the deposit and remind them that there is 6 days left to book. Mention that the hotel could sell out and the rates may increase if they wait to book after your due date. ( this really happened to my mom's friend who got married in Cancun) 2. Give a shout out to everyone who has booked on Facebook and tag them, this will remind other people to book their trip. 3. Have your sister or close family friend reach out to family members and close friends who really should be booking and have them send a friendly email saying that if anyone has any questions contact me, we really hope to see you all there, etc. 4. If anyone is having "trouble" booking, have your travel agent or planner (if you're using one) contact them directly to resolve any issues I hope these tips help! Its SO STRESSFUL, I KNOW. For the dress, I'm still considering renting, so I'm near LA and we're going to take a trip to Korea Town to their bridal district to see what they have. The Pronovias dress I'm looking at converts to a mini dress. What photographer are you leaning towards?

I'm so relieved, my guests exceeded my room block today which means I don't have to come out of pocket for the deposits! Such a huge relief! So far, I have nearly 22 guests and counting. I'm going to leave people alone at this point and see who else books their room, but now the pressure is gone. I'm going to send a special "thank you for confirming your accomodations" email and remind everyone else next month. I'm going to focus on my dress in the next month or so. I really love pronovias dresses. What are you ladies wearing? @@girlinthecity97 @@hanaefaith

@@girlinthecity97 I did really simple postcard size STD. They came out really nice. I used www.overnightprints.com, very reasonable. I paid $97 for 100 front and back full color with uv spot treatment on the front. My friend who is a graphic designer laid the artwork out for me. I got them in about 2 days, I would highly recommend them. I plan on using overnight prints for my "brochure style" invitations as well.

@@girlinthecity97 I think I would prefer either the new chapel or the sky terrace for the ceremony. I also need to see options for the reception. I do not want to do a private beach reception because its not all that private and I don't want too many looky loos around. I have not picked out invitations, I'm going to send them out around October or November of this year. I should have a guest count by then. My invitations will be more of a package of information, any little luggage tags ,etc. I'm hoping my guests book too Everything is sort of up in the air until I get that preliminary guest count. In the meantime, I'm going to look for a dress this sat. Are you having bridesmaids? I'm up in the air on if I should have bridesmaids or not since everyone is traveling and spending $$ to attend the wedding
