  1. @@Lilgabri03 I used Dean Sanderson for photos and Mike Cantarell for Videography -- they worked as a great team coming in as 1 vendor so I didnt need to pay vendor fees for each vendor. Loved their work as well. http://mikecantarellfilms.com/mayanpalace/homaira_farhad/ https://www.facebook.com/DeanSandersonWeddings
  2. @@Jb2b I had the garden gazebo ceremony as well and honestly, if you do not want to purchase flowers I think you can make the choice to skip it. The garden gazebo is pretty with the trees and plants there. It pretty much almost swallowed my decor. Yes, I did select all of my decor, table settings etc but you can choose to select one of the memorable moments collection if it makes it easier for you. I did not make my selections from the lomas website, I selected my options from pintrest and got price quotes on those items (what lomas does, is that they find a decor similar to whatever picture you provide) @@Lilgabri03 I used Dean Sanderson and they are great: https://www.facebook.com/DeanSandersonWeddings
  3. @Lilgabri03 my quote was $225 a table for the centerpiece - yes it adds up really quick but to save money I had 9 guests at each table and for the guest of honor table, I had about 8 or 7 (I cant remember now). Also, another way I found to save money could be to move some of your decor from the location of your ceremony to your reception. I requested that all my decor which would look good at the reception be moved including the chair ribbons, flowers etc except the white sheers. The resort was great. We had a blast. Management at Azul Fives really goes all out for their guests. Most of my guests got room upgrades. My onsite wedding coordinator worked so hard for me she did not want me to move a muscle or stress about anything. If I needed anything, she got it done. If I needed to find a guest, she found them. The Lomas staff was also great, they threw in a bunch of stuff that I did not even request for/ pay for at my rehearsal dinner like the DJ and MC - I was honestly speechless. @@Jb2b it would be very difficult to travel with all your decor. I traveled with my wedding favors, welcome bags, guest book but no decor and I had to pay the airline for an additional checked-in luggage and for excess luggage. Also, TSA does conduct random searches if you are lucky they might not search your luggage but usually when they do, they are not careful and might break things. A guest had the screen of her laptop broken. Another had a few personal items broken as well. So I don't know if I would risk travelling with all your decor. I think I was lucky my luggage was not selected.
  4. @@Lilgabri03 Just an update on how my wedding reception went at the Sky Deck - It was windy while we had the ceremony at the garden gazebo but when we got up to the Sky Deck, it was not windy at all. It was just perfect and beautiful up there. I do have to post a warning though if you are making your selections and getting quotes of decor from pictures, you want to ensure your wedding coordinator sends you a picture of what Lomas will provide on the day of the event. What I got to find out is that they do not provide you the exact or similar looking item but use what they have that is close to the picture you provide. So I had requested a quote for a tall vase but what I got was a vase which was half the size of the vase I requested a quote on. I was informed when I had my onsite meeting, so there was a little disappointment there but decor was still beautiful. I have no pictures back yet to share but I had a beautiful wedding and a blast at Azul Fives. So also did my guests. I loved the service at the resort and the onsite wedding team.
  5. @Lilgabri03 I am having my reception on the Skydeck as well at 7.30pm and in 2 weeks. I can provide you with feedback when I get back. So far, I have been told it can get windy but my wedding coordinator is not bothered about my decor just the votive candles, hanging crystals and candles but we have a plan B if it gets windy. @khmciver I made an official complaint via email to my previous wedding coordinator's manager. My Travel Specialist with Destination Weddings Travel also submitted a compliant on my behalf to the Karisma Hotels' head office regarding my previous wedding coordinator and was assigned a new coordinator a week later. I hope this helps!
  6. This could be a good display frame for the reception. I came across it while trying to decide how to display the table numbers and/ISPY cards. They are 0.99 too. I like it but still trying to figure out if the colors work for my decor: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30151035/ http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70223653/ Hoping this saves someone else some search time :-) this is a picture of what it could look like: http://www.tradesy.com/weddings/wedding-miscellaneous/tolsby-double-sided-frame-397931
  7. If anyone is looking to print via vistaprint, here is a deal on groupon: https://www.groupon.com/deals/gg-vistaprint-business-cards-custom-goods I have been looking for map/brochures to give my guests in their OOT bags but I found this instead. I hope you ladies find these links useful. It can take hours searching. Mexico Spanish Phrases: http://www.single-serving.com/Spanish/American_Spanish_Phrases-USL.pdf
  8. @talicea7812 thank you for the information on getting the favors to Mexico. That is very helpful to know! Hi Ladies, I will be getting married April 16th. We decided to change ours from a symbolic wedding to a legal one (fiance prefers to keep it simple, which I kinda agree with although I think it will be interesting to see how this goes) Our wedding will be in the garden gazebo, cocktail hour at the Zky Bar (glad to know it is floor below the Sky Deck) - my previous wedding coordinator was not very helpful in offering that detail when I asked. The reception will be at the Sky Deck. My invitations went out January 18th along with the schedule of events. Will anyone be giving out Tequila as a favor? If yes, where will you be getting them?
  9. Let's talk getting wedding favors to Mexico.... did anyone have issues getting wedding favors to mexico or were there issues at the airport? Thank you

  11. I made my booking deadline with the travel agent my RSVP date as well and it made the process a lot easier for me. Also I mailed out invitations only to those who confirmed their rooms by that deadline... easy peasy!
  12. @@KScheer responding to your mail now @@talicea7812 I have the same concerns as well. The same for hair and make-up, I havent read a good review on the bridal service provided by the salon...I am so confused now if I have to fly an entourage in..LMAO! I spoke to my destination wedding specialist and she mentioned that the vendor fee is per day..which kinda sucks because I have a traditional ceremony on tuesday (per nigerian tradition) and the actual wedding on Wednesday...also she will be speaking to the head office for the Karisma Hotels regarding Stephanie. Hopefully, this helps but we shall see.
  13. Hi, Does anyone know if the vendor fee charged by Karisma is per day or just per vendor?
  14. I am still waiting on responses I sent to my coordinator on Friday and also emails I sent to Caripe and Matias Cano for photography and videography ... I am presently considering using Dean Sanderson and Mike Cantarell for Photography and Film. @@talicea7812 @@KScheer would you happen to know if the vendor fee is per day or just per vendor?
  15. Has anyone used Caribe Photo or Matias Cano for photography and Videography? Apparently these are the only 2 vendors who cater to the Azul Fives at no charge. Any feedback on these two would be great and helpful! Caribe Photo website Facebook page Packages Matias Cano website Facebook page Packages
  16. @@KScheer I would definitely love to see the pictures you have. I honestly feel like I have the worst wedding coordinator. I am not sure if she has been providing me with sufficient information - I barely even get a response and when, she apologizes for the delay due to having to play catch up..I am clueless Here is what I found on the S'mores beach party but you will have to contact Azul Fives for pricing S’MORES BEACH PARTY Who can resist s’mores, made of toasted marshmallows sandwiched between chocolate bars and graham crackers? We’ll light a beach bonfire and provide the toasting sticks and ingredients for campfire fun. * Provides sticky-yet-memorable moments. Beach bonfire, toasting sticks and ingredients! Contact us for current pricing information Planning-wise, I am at the invitation stage. I am glad as well to have an Azul Fives brides to discuss with. My email is isymiyake_2000@yahoo,co.uk I am having to plan a wedding in 5 months so, yeah CRAZY! But trying to pull it off. We had our guests RSVP by confirming their rooms by 01/09/14 I used wix.com in creating the website : www.mikeandisi.wix.com - that cost $0 I will share my invitations with you once I am finally done with them. I feel like I am learning as I go :-) Oh yeah - I am also still researching a photographer and videography for the wedding but I have seen no good reviews for Caribe, even though their prices are reasonable - thought you might like to know :-) sorry - meant www.mikeandisi.wix.com/weds
  17. @@csho I am considering sunscreen, mint, sewing kit, a welcome note and buttons ( kinda like "friend of the bride", sister of the bride" etc) - found them here http://www.cafepress.com/+bride+buttons
  18. @@KScheer were you told the pool deck was an option? I wanted my wedding in the garden but considered having the reception at a pool deck but was informed by Stephanie my wedding co-coordinator that the pool deck is not an option at Azul Fives. hmmm...below was her email to me.....Have you started your planning? Stephanie Collazo To Me Dec 30, 2013 Hello Isi, The Pool Deck location is not available at Azul Fives. These are wedding locations at our other resorts Azul beach and Sensatori. Thank you
  19. Is anyone going with one of the Memorable Moments Signature Collection options or just selecting decor from Lomas?
  20. @ do you have an idea where the reception was held and I see you do photography. Do you do videography as well. I have the following events planned for the week of the wedding and would love it all documented but concerned about costs, can you suggest the best way I can do this? Hi, My wedding is on the 16th of April at Azul Fives, I would like a quote for the following events - Welcome Cocktail, Monday April 14th @ 8 for possibly an hr or 2 - Traditional Ceremony, Tuesday at 12 noon ( 30 mins to an hr) - Cruise -- 1hr 30mins - Rehearsal Dinner - at 6pm possibly 2hrs - wedding ceremony, Wednesday 16th at 6.30 - Cocktail hr at 7 - wedding reception afterwards Thank you
  21. The Save the Date Cards I wanted to make sure I incorporated something Mike and I have in common in the wedding, so I settled for our birth sign. In designing the Save the Date cards, I contacted Beth Roller of JoyfulPixels on www.etsy.com. She was very good at bringing my ideas to live with very little guidance. Price was also reasonable. I used the date guests had to confirm their rooms as the RSVP date.
  22. Hi All, My name is Issey, I got engaged November 14th, 2013 - a week before my birthday . I will be getting married April 16, 2014 at the Azul Fives Resort. I am hoping to meet more Azul Fives brides to discuss wedding plans, share ideas and pretty much just help each other. I found it really helpful reading some topics in this forum which have helped so much with my planning; but i just have not seen one dedicated to AZUL FIVES BRIDES! Woohoo! Here is a picture of my ring. I chose a yellow sapphire because my fiance, Mike and I are Sagittarian. I will continue to post my plans etc in hopes that more Azul Fives Brides will follow suit. At Start of Wedding Preparation So the first thing I did after we decided on a date and place was research resorts in Riviera Maya, Mexico. I fell in love with the Karisma Hotel group just from looking at their wedding page ( I truly believe after this happened, that the image you put out is important for businesses - I just hope they will provide us as good a service as their website looks) Second thing I did was register with destination weddings Travel (www.destinationweddings.com) to sort out room costs and also reserve our wedding date with Azul Fives. It worked out to be $687 per person in a double deluxe room. I was also advised to attend the Karisma webinar by Pam, my wedding specialist at Destination Wedding Travel and was given 20% discount on food and drinks for my private event and a free room upgrade. I am hoping I can use the Sky Deck for my reception but booked the One room suite for my Fiance and I ($1882 each for 7 days) - keeping my fingers crossed that we will get this upgrade My Wedding Colors - Magenta - Lime Green - Yellow Using Photoshop, I created the shade of these colors that I wanted to ensure all my vendors used the exact color for the wedding using the HTML color code - see attached ( it has been a guide for me as well to ensure I am selecting the right color shade although as I have come to realize, color shades can still be tricky.
  23. Hello, Is there a forum for Azul Fives Brides? I have tons of questions and my wedding co-coordinator at Karisma takes forever to respond. Thank you
