Thank you for your input, but no where in the text did it say anything about prices being subject to change. Also at the top of the budget planner was "February 2015." The words "quote" was never used as this was the official budget planner I was sent which they send all new brides. I am hoping they will honor this. We'll see!

Hi all, my date is set for Dreams Riviera Cancun and I just got my contract a couple days ago. I see that prices I was given in writing 2-3 weeks ago have increased by $150-300 in my contract. Does anyone have experience negotiating? I'm not confrontational, even via email haha, and I don't want to piss off the wedding department before I even start planning! But I do think they should honor their written promise. Anyone have advice on wording, experiences with negotiating at DRC or any other resort, or things I should ensure are in the contract? Past brides-how much did you negotiate? Did you do it yourself or have an event planner from home do the dirty work? :-)

I was told 1 week ago that the outside photog few was $150. Does your contract have a no-price escalation clause? I am in the process of reserving my day for Feb 2015, when do you get the contract? Before I send the deposit I want my event planner friend to look at the contract for me and ensure prices are set in stone because frankly, I'm not dealing with this BS.

The packages at Moon do offer more, I think, but we chose Dreams Riviera Cancun because Moon was WAY too big for us and my family loves the beach and Moon's beach was unswimmable. For wedding ceremony you can do the beach (North or South beach, pretty private compared to other beach locations at other resorts) or the Gazebo which is next to the pool, but they push the pool chairs away from the ceremony site and everyone was very respecful from the two weddings we saw there. I saw pics from a wedding there where they put up dividers between the pool and gazebo (not sure if they still offer this as this was in 2009). In the brochure, they said you could also have the ceremony on the lobby stairs which looked beautiful but during the tour they didn't mention it, not sure if it's still available. We're going with the Ultimate package. It covers 20 people and everyone else is extra depending on which menu you choose. Ultimate package includes the gold menu, you can upgrade to platinum if you wish. Dinner can be buffet or plated. Cocktail hour and reception can be anywhere you want. Pool deck (next to sand) or pool terrace (next to pool), around one of the jacuzzis, by the spa, restaurants (extra fee depending on which restaurant), and beach. Decor is 100% customizable. You can give them pics and they will create it for you within your budget or quote you if you want to upgrade. They have 2 weddings a day max. Tables can be anything you want (square, circle, rectangle, set up whichever you want) as well as colors. There are so many options it's crazy. If you (or anyone!) wants the latest price list, send me your email and I'll forward it! I do have pics but not sure how to upload them...do I have to post them to like a blog first??

Send me your email, I just received the excel sheet from the hotel last week! They told me it is $150 per outside vendor. They will waive this for an outside photog but you have to pay for a 3 day stay at the resort for them. I've contacted styling trio (hair/makeup) and they also said it's a $150 fee.

Hi ladies! Returned from a site visit and have decided on DRC for February (23?!) of 2015 (unconfirmed, waiting on travel agent prices). We are going to have the ceremony at the gazebo, cocktail hour on the pool terrace, and the reception at the Seaside Grille ($1,000 extra but I feel it's worth it). Has anyone had their reception here? We saw receptions on the beach and pool deck only during our stay.

Hello wonderful past and future DW brides! I was looking for more recent reviews of Styling Trio for makeup and hair. I've seen some threads from 2011 and so but I'm wondering if anyone have any insight recently? From reading previous reviews, it seems that their rates change quite often. Is anyone willing to say what they paid or were quoted? You can send me a message if you'd like. I have prices via email but I want to make sure it's consistent. Does anyone know if these rates are at all negotiable? Lastly, is it really worth it to have Adrian himself (for the highest cost) or does his team do just as well?

Hair & Makeup

For me, I'd rather spend way more on pictures and hair/makeup than things like centerpieces and flowers. Does anyone have recent prices for Adrian/Styling Trio? -
I'm headed down feb 22-26 with my parents and sister/MoH. We're staying at dreams riviera Cancun and also visiting barcelo maya palace and possibly riu palace riviera maya. We decided not to visit moon palace because we love the beach and I have heard nothing but bad things about the beach. The hotel itself looks and sounds amazing but for us, why go to Mexico if you can't swim in the ocean? I also love the iberostar chain but they really don't offer nice ceremony locations. Pretty much only on the beach and we were looking for a gazebo-type location for a little privacy.

Hi! Try http://www.riu.com/en/weddings/ Put in your country and resort and all 2014 prices and info is listed. I didn't want to waste time with an online form so I actually directly called to speak with the wedding coordinator (number is listed on the side). She was so sweet and we laughed as I told her I was surrounded by snow in Chicago and was she surrounded by Palm trees :-) I am planning a site visit next week (in addition to dreams riviera Cancun and barcelo maya palace). Let me know if you have any questions! Oh also, apparently riu Mexico was remodeled and everything is a terribly bright shade of purple now. Riu riviera maya is all white and newer. I was looking at pics on tripadvisor and i did not like the Mexico room decor at all.

Hi ladies!! Headed down for a site visit next month to decide where I want to book. I've stayed at the Lindo twice before and loved it but Iberostar may be off my "to visit" list as Deisy told me the only places they offer for ceremonies is the beach or Plaza across the street for 50 people. I had hoped for more than those 2 options...does anyone know if there are other ceremony sites that have been used?

I'm actually headed to Riviera Maya next month with my parents and sister to go on site visits. Were staying at Dreams Riviera Cancun, but we're going to look at Moon Palace and the Barcelo Palace too as of now. I had read in another forum on here that Grand Velas really doesn't negotiate prices for guests at weddings. :-( it seems like $550/night is the absolute lowest I've seen for them. That's way too much for guests. Oh well. Anyways I'll let you know how the site visits go!

I called them the other day. I talked to their wedding office and it was very difficult to understand her accent :-/ and the language barrier I believe is why I never got the email she said she was sending me related to all the packages. I told her I was looking for about 40-50 people and she said the wedding package would be about $7,500. She offered me a site visit rate of $360/pp/night but I think it'll just be too expensive for guests so we're going to pass. It is such a beautiful resort though! Maybe for the honeymoon :-) Here's the website in case you didn't see it - http://www.velasweddings.com/

Site visits

This is great info!!! Thanks ladies -
I had considered the Paradise Preview promo from Palace Resorts (specifically Moon Palace), but it would be $246/pp/night if we didn't end up confirming a wedding. Dreams Riviera Cancun gave me a discounted rate of $110/pp/night and I'm staying 5 days/4 nights at that rate. That just made more sense to me. I'm heading down in a month!

Thanks for the great info! I'm heading down Feb 22-26 and staying at Dreams Riviera Cancun. We plan on visiting about 5 resorts, hopefully we'll have them narrowed down by then! My fiance can't take off work :-/ so my parents and sister/MoH are all coming lol family vacay! We plan on renting a car and having my dad navigate. My TA will plan out our visits as well (Wendy from Wright Travel Agency through BDW).
