Hi, We are planning a destination wedding to the DR in April 2015. We want a small beach wedding with close family and friends. Due to health issues some people (grandparents) won't be joining us. My questions: 1. Do we send the Save the Dates to the people that we want to travel to the DR with us? Is it normal to do this about a year in advance? 2. Announcements - Can we send these to people that we want to let know that we are getting married but not necessarily invited to attend. For the announcements we want to include something saying that we are requesting that you do NOT send a gift. We are not looking for gifts but just want to share our happiness with our extended family and make them feel not left out. We do NOT wish to have a AHR either. 3. Invitations: When it is typical to send these out and to whom do they get sent to? Is it to everyone or just the people we expect to travel? Ladies, I appreciate any and all feedback.

We are also accepting kids at our wedding. I love kids and am not worried at all.

I feel bad that you aren't happy with the results. The wedding is really about you and your husband... more so than the others. My suggestion would be to forego having the bridal party get dressed up and just do a session with you and your husband. After all those the pictures that really matter.

Yes. We are sending them out at the 1 year mark, which for us is in April. I think we are going to send to the people we really want to attend and then we will see how many can actually make it.

We are asking for no one to post pictures either until after we post the first pictures.

I really want to do the legal ceremony in the DR. I feel horrible to ask all those people to travel with us and it not to be real.

We are paying for ours as well.
