  1. Congrats and happy planning! Definately check out a travel agent. The sooner that you book something (without even have to plan, just get a place and date) the earlier you can send out STDs and have guests start saving!

  3. I hadn't thought of this but LOVE the idea! I agree....we are doing DW to cut costs, not have two full weddings!
  4. We have smaller families (but big drama in them!) and lots of friends. We are only inviting people to both events, even though we know some will not be able to afford to go to DW. I'd love to be able to do a big bash for AHR but financial constraints are the reason for the DW to begin with.

Clothes: My wedding dress for me and suit (not from wedding) for my hubby 6. Invitations: Formal but not super expensive 7. Photographer: Yes! 8. Cake: Traditional with flowers because then we can take the top layer to eat on one year anniversary. No possibility of taking back one from DW. (at least I don't think! It's on my list for my first meeting with wedding planner to see if they can get dry ice and ship it right away to my house where our doggie sitter can put right in freezer. 9. Decorations: want something fun and funky...still working on this! 10. DW Photos: We're doing a slideshow with our DW photos and throughout the night the photographer uploads and incorporates pics from the AHR into the sideshow blending the two experiences into one.
  7. Great question! We are getting married on 12/5 so the holidays will just starting when we get back. Was thinking January or February but really wanted an outdoor summer backyard BBQ.....I wonder if I sent those invites around January it would work to do an early summer reception? I also want to have my pictures done so can't be too soon. Decisions, decisions!
  8. For those doing an AHR, how much time inbetween wedding and the AHR?
  9. I love the idea of a brunch AHR! Originally our wedding was going to be in July so we were going to host it at our house and get a tent, tables, etc. but we are now getting married in December so that is out of the question here in New England! We are definitely going to wait until January to get past the holidays but havent gotten much further on it! Looking forward to hearing details of others though!
