To Invite Or Not To Invite?
rachelia160 replied to jeffandrobyn's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Wishy washy people all the worst--they don't want to tell you flat out "No," probably because they think they'll hurt your feelings...but I'd rather know for sure either way, and if you can't come, you can't come! Don't spare my feelings by saying "Maybe" until the last second! Sorry, I'm venting...whenever people ask me how many people I'll be having, the answer is always "Anywhere between 45 and 100" because so few people will commit to an answer! -
Is It "bad" To Buy Real Starfish?
rachelia160 replied to nadiakat17's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I know I'm a little late to the party, but did you ever find your answer about getting starfish/shells through customs? I've been wondering that myself, since it's a big focal point of my centerpiece. -
Hm, I sort of want to run into one just so I know what everyone is talking about! Although I'm DIY-deficient anyway so I don't imagine I'll be running around downloading a ton of stuff, I just don't want to be a noob

Are you wearing a Garter
rachelia160 replied to Golden's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Update: Just ordered this garger! Changed my mind from Indians, since he's a HUMONGOUS Cavs fan, and is already stressing that Finals Week will be during our wedding week since he thinks we have a shot at making it--even if he misses a game, hopefully this will make up for it! -

Newbie Here - Doing A Destination Wedding On A Budget
rachelia160 replied to LaurenC3432's topic in Newbies!!
Welcome welcome welcome! This board is going to be your life saver Most resorts seem to have a pretty basic wedding package for brides who aren't concerned with all the bells and whistles that are relatively inexpensive, or you could probably just do a few upgrades from the free wedding package that most places offer when you book X amount of rooms. At my resorts, the free package is for 10 guests when you book 7 nights, or 5 people reserve for 3 nights, or $999 out of pocket. The reception package for $25 people is about $2,500. I think those are pretty good ballpark numbers to operate off of, based on the price range for the resort you want. I know it's not quite Playa Del Carmen, but at my wedding resort, the Now Jade in the Riviera Maya, the cost was about $1475 for 7 nights and about $1100 for 4 nights, which sounds like it's in your price range Good luck planning! Picking the resort is the hardest part! -
I think it's a prescription serum that you put on your eyelashes to make them grow. I'm currently using this Rimmel Lash Accelerator Serum that you can get at drug stores that some people swear produces the same results, but I don't think I remember to use it consistently enough to vouch for the results yet, but I'll try to be better about using it every day and report back!

I love reading everyone's engagement stories on this topic so I had to share mine! Here's my FI's point of view from our website: "From the start my engagement plans seemed like a disaster! They messed up the ring to the point where I only got it a week before we left, even though I had ordered it six months before. I was freaking out days before I knew I was gong to ask, and to make it worse our flight was delayed and we sat in the airport all day, and I struggled hard from being so nervous! (My parents and sister will concur). Waiting at the airport! The morning I was going to ask I was in a panic and freaking out. From trying to figure out the exact moment when I'd ask her, to trying to figure out how someone was just gonna put it into my pocket while we were walking hand in hand. In the end, it all worked out, and even though there were a ton of people around when it happened, I wouldnt have it any other way...Im pretty sure she enjoyed it also, because she once told me that if I asked in a crappy way that she would say no and make me do it again another day." My turn! I'm a total Disney freak, and Princess Belle is my absolute favorite--I own dolls, figurines, suitcases, shirts, everything I can get on with her face on it! When we visited Disney World, the ONLY thing I wanted to do was see Belle's and Beast's castle, so I dragged everyone there as soon as we got the the Magic Kingdom. Of course, I wanted our pictures taken in front of the stained glass window. As soon as Corey and I posed, his entire family was holding a camera or cell phone in their hand, and I wondered "Why does everyone want to take this picture?" He turned to me and said "Do you want to start this vacation right?" And my heart started to race. I yelled "Are you messing with me?!" a little louder than was perhaps necessary, but sure enough, he plopped down on one knee and popped the question! Everyone else passing by the window froze and watched until I said yes, and then started cheering. It was truly magical! To say I was SHOCKED is an understatement! Of course, a cast member ran up right away with our "Just Engaged" buttons ready to go, and right away, they swept us and our entire family straight over to Story Time with Belle, where we got to go straight to the front for her to give us her congratulations: (As a five year old at heart, this was amazing!) Even though I was still in shock, was ready to start milking this for all it was worth--I asked the cast member who brought us our buttons veeeeery nicely if there was any way we could have dinner at the Be Our Guest restaurant (you have to make reservations EIGHT MONTHS in advance to get in for dinner....we didn't even know we were going 8 months prior!), and sure enough, they got us a reservation for 7 pm! (The Grey Stuff really is delicious!) For the rest of the week, cast members were throwing fast passes at us (we even got to go straight to the front of the line on Splash Mountain to make sure we made our dinner reservation on time!) and everyone we encountered told us congratulations. I really got to feel like a princess! Not to brag, but I think I picked myself a good one

I see that most people want to hit 150 for the "templates"--can someone explain to me what that means? When I search for it, I see people posting PDFs of invitations and such that they call templates, but I feel like I can download those fine? I'm confused
-
I feel like I'm nowhere near 150! What kinds of posts have you guys been commenting on? I feel like I only have something to add to so many topics and I don't want to run around commenting on old random posts

I feel like I've been at this forever and I'm barely halfway! But I still don't know what templates are?

OFFICIAL NOW Jade Wedding Thread
rachelia160 replied to TATrisha's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Accommodations & Site
Do any brides have the most current pricing for the spa? Trying to figure out the cost of an up-do for my bridesmaids. I saw a post on this thread for 2013 that said it was $59 for long hair, but since their prices are ever-increasing I'm assuming it's gone up by then. -
To Invite Or Not To Invite?
rachelia160 replied to jeffandrobyn's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Eh, I'd say if you sent a Save the Date you should probably follow through with the invitation, especially if you're pretty sure she won't come so you don't have to worry about her putting a damper on your day. If she doesn't seem concerned or apologetic at all about not being able to make it, you can wipe your hands of her (if that's what you want to do) with your invitation as your last big effort. Plus, that makes you the bigger person despite her inconsiderate-ness, which is never a bad thing in the long run! -

@@forevertogether This is SO cute! You've inspired me--since I'm not doing a garter toss, mine will be "just for him," so I'm going to order a Cleveland Indians one from that site as a specials surprise! Thanks for posting this! -
Hi @@yasminea84! I'm having my reception at Castaways too, so I'm excited to see how people respond to this thread! Not sure if this will help you or not, but here are some pictures I took of Castaways when I was there earlier this year. The space looks kind of big, but it's divided into 3 sections, so I think it will feel more intimate than you think, especially if you keep the "action" in one of the sections. How many guests are you planning on having? Also, here's a really helpful diagram that someone (sorry I don't remember who) posted of their layout at Castaways a while back that I held onto. As far as decor, so far I've bought Chinese lanterns, chair bows, and we'll be making our centerpieces. I'm unsure of how much decor I'll need either--I want it to be cute, but I also don't want to lug down a bunch of stuff that no one really notices or cares about. Thanks for posting this, I'll be following this thread! Rachel

When To Give Bridesmaid Gifts?
rachelia160 replied to nadiakat17's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I'm planning on giving my girls their gifts at my shower (either before or after, not around all the guests). Like @@calgarybride2015 said, I have enough stuff to bring down, so I don't want to lug down a bunch of tote bags when I don't have to! Plus, that way they'll know what they have so they don't bring down anything they don't need (like I'm guessing they'd already have brought down some kind of tote, so if they already have this one they won't end up bringing two). I was with you though--a part of me really wanted to give it to them while we were actually there in "wedding-mode," but I think it's just more practical to do it before. -

@@kylie537 I'm having my reception at Castaways, and while we'll be having closer to 50 people, I feel that the way the space is broken up, it won't seem big. I've been there in person (not sure if you have or not), so I think pictures might make it look bigger than it actually is. I think you'll be fine!
