I am getting married in four months on Trunk Bay St John. We are staying at the Marriott timeshares in St Thomas. Any recommendations on where to have a dinner post-ceremony for 35 guests?
-
Okay, my dilemma is slightly different, but I need help. We are staying in st thomas at the marriott, getting married in st john. So basically we are taking a boat from our hotel to our ceremony site. The logistics of this are driving me nuts! What are our guests to do while we get photos done post-ceremony? We did not want to have a cocktail hour. We want to all return to st Thomas for dinner on the same boat. Do we just have our guests hang out on the beach? Maybe I should make a cute cocktail hour with a little table and some signature drinks or something to nibble on right there on the beach while they wait for our photos to be taken? Any suggestions on what I should do?

@@Cerisem I did not realize that you could obtain your license prior to leaving the states. Can you explain this to me? Do you have to bring proof of license with you to the islands? Thanks! @@USVIBride Our wedding is May 2014 too!!! We are staying at Marriott St Thomas and getting married on Trunk Bay in St John on May 6th. Where are you staying? Did you use a coordinator? Where are you having your reception? I am new to this site, my wedding is in four months and I am wayyyyy behind schedule so any tips you have are greatly appreciated! Thanks! - Morgan

St. Thomas ceremony location and resorts
nursemorgan replied to domi12's topic in The Islands Weddings
Hi! I would like to hear about your sunset catamaran reception. Which company did you go through? Was it a hit? Do you have any pics you can share? We will staying at Marriott Frenchmans Reef and getting married in St John on Trunk Bay, but we are still deciding on a reception location. -
I am also getting married in the islands and I am getting married on a Tuesday. Hopefully the random weekday will provide the quieter experience on the beach!

Hi All! I am planning our destination wedding for this May!! We are staying at the Frenchman's Reef Marriott in St Thomas and taking a boat over to St John to get married on May 6th. I am so so so in love with Trunk Bay St John so that is our ceremony location. I am struggling with the logistics of the day though! How should I plan out our after-ceremony events? Do we do dinner in St John? Do we take the boat back to St Thomas and have our dinner at the Marriott? Please help!! -Morgan

At Home Reception (AHR) Do's and Don'ts
nursemorgan replied to Brenners's topic in At Home Reception (AHR)
I am looking for some opinions. I am planning on having a small relaxed intimate dinner after our reception in the islands, but then having our formal reception when we return home. Is it okay to wait to have our first dance until we return to our formal reception? (we weren't planning on dancing in the islands) -Morgan -
Thanks for this post! Exactly what I needed!

As far as water bottles for our OOT bags, do I ship cases to St John USVI? Or do I pack them in a suit case? Any advice?

Can someone explain to me what I need to do to get to 150? Does it mean I need to post 150 times? Also, does anyone know where I can start my "planning thread" ? I started it through the "blog" tab on my home page but I was wondering if there is a forum elsewhere I should have started my planning thread in?

Cathleen's Planning Thread for Jamaica
nursemorgan replied to Cat723's topic in Destination Wedding Planning Journal
Hi! I do not have 150 posts yet because I am new to this site so I am unable to click on the links you posted... do you know how to get to 150? Also is there a way you can post the links to my blog on my page so I can open them? I'm not too sure how this works yet, but I would love to check out your links to the chap stick labels! Total side note: do you know the difference between a planning thread and a blog? I started a blog but was there somewhere else I should have started a "planning thread"? lol sorry for the questions, just trying to plan my destination wedding that is creeping up on me fast and thought this site would help but I cant open anything! Help! -Morgan -
While Brian is sitting here watching college football (Auburn vs Florida State to the exact) I get the pleasure of wedding planning while I “spend time” with my future hubby. Since we are planning TWO events, I am trying to break down our “To-Do’s” weekly so I do not get too overwhelmed. St Thomas is May 4-11, 2014 with our Ceremony Date May 6, 2014 in St John Cape May, NJ Reception June 6, 2014 List of Things I Have Done: Dress (Said Yes to the Dress!) Choose Location (Trunk Bay- St John USVI) Choose Hotel (We are all staying at The Marriott Frenchman’s Reef Resort in St Thomas, USVI) Flights Booked (check!) Invitations for our St Thomas Vacation & St John Ceremony (picked out on Etsy, still being designed, not ordered, NOT sent out… I know, I know, I told you I am quite a bit behind) Wedding Wish Lanterns to send up post-ceremony (check!) Save the Dates for Cape May Reception (purchased, but not sent out) Decide on wedding colors (check- blush pink and pewter gray) Stamps for Invitations (check) Maps for welcome bags (check! CANNOT WAIT to share photos of these awesome maps the best Etsy shop designed for me!) Labels for my welcome bags (check) Guest book for islands (check! Cant wait to show you our unique finger print guest book we had designed for our trip!) Emailed our photographer about reserving our Cape May reception date! List of Things To Do This Week: Stamps for Cape May Save the Dates Order/Send out Cape May Save the Dates Order Bridesmaids dresses Figure out what groomsmen are wearing Book photographer (Hello Gorgeous Photography!!!) Contact St John planner Drop deposit to Cape May reception venue Contact Adventure Center about our “boat day” in the islands Order welcome bag supplies- sunblock, chap stick, H2O labels, bags, etc. Decide on post-ceremony dinner location in either St John or St Thomas USVI (THIS IS WHERE I AM HOPING THIS SITE COMES THROUGH FOR REVIEWS!!) Contact Marriott St Thomas to discuss room arrangements Honeymoon location (somewhere in the Caribbean!) Contact bridal party about flights J Make snack bag labels “two less fish in the sea” “all because two nuts fell in love” for goldfish & nuts, and water for boat day treats Hopefully this List of To Do’s get completely completed this week and then it’s on to next week’s list. Baby steps, but like seriously, I can do this! KEEP ME ON TRACK PEOPLE!!!!

Hi BDW world! I am brand new to the site! My fiance Brian & I are planning our wedding for May 6, 2014. Our wedding is literally four months from today!!! I wish I could say that I am right on track with all of our plans, but I am definitely, without a doubt, 150% behind schedule based on every one of the four wedding planning timelines that I have been trying to follow. This is super hard for OCD me to admit, but I am way behind. We got engaged last April and I was convinced that 13 months was way WAY more time than what I needed to plan our dream destination wedding, but between my career beginning as a night shift nicu nurse in my dream hospital, my Dad having a few health issues, my mom & I having opposite work schedules, and attempting to spend as much time as I can with my family & fiance, the wedding planning got put on the back burner. I literally have been dreaming of this day since I was 6, and to be honest, I probably starting planning shortly after that 7th birthday. Let me just say, my entire life has been about planning. Whether it be planning my wedding, my meals, my work schedule, I was ALWAYS making lists of some sort or another. I get so much pleasure out of making a list and completing the contents on that list. Lately, I have still been listing away, but unfortunately I have been slacking with actually completing this list. So, today I decided to get back to my normal self & PLAN! Yay for crossing things off my list! In addition to planning our destination wedding, we are also planning our reception back home here in Cape May, New Jersey. To sum it up, we are basically planning two events at once... and literally have only four short months left until our first event! Sheesh... should be a very eventful few months! I am planning on posting on this blog as frequently as I can to help track my planning progress and get myself back on track! Try to check back frequently for updates on my planning! I really appreciate any advice or words of encouragement any previous or current destination brides can give me! Heres to a roller coaster of a wedding planning ride! -Morgan

Hi All! I am planning our destination wedding for May 6, 2014... exactly 4 months from today! Also, we will be having our reception party back home here in Cape May, NJ. I know that it seems crazy, but I do not have anything confirmed yet. Our flights & hotel is booked, but that is about it! I feel like I basically started truly planning today. If anyone has any tips for planning in such a short time frame I would appreciate any help I can get! I am so happy I stumbled onto this site! -Morgan
