  1. Hi Zilla, I'm doing my boat excursion through paradise catamarans. They have great reviews and I even met with them when i was down there. Check out their reviews: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g153510-d815084-Reviews-Paradise_Catamarans-Puerto_Aventuras_Yucatan_Peninsula.html Also, I'm also interesting in requesting the better photographer at blue lens (wedding day story). Can you please let me know if you find out anything about the photographers that work there. Thanks, Anna
  2. Great pictures @Catfoxinabox Everything looks beautiful! I'm currently planning for my wedding and undecided about certain menu items. What selection of appetizers did you decide on for the cocktail hour? Any suggestions? Also for the welcome party I'm thinking I might do the mexican BBQ but I noticed that there are 2 types of Mexican selections. What did you go with? Any suggestions for welcome BBQ?
  3. So I found out some information from Blue Lens (Soon to be called Wedding Day Story). Below was sent to me through email: To provide you further information about some recent changes, Blue Lens Caribe is now being re-branding to WeddingDayStory! This is the name under which we have been performing weddings in Dominican Republic, Costa Rica and Los Cabos for the past five years. We found this name saying much more about who we are and what we do. We are story tellers... Therefore, the "Blue Lens Caribe" identity was just no longer a good fit. We are still working on proper changes towards our web site and blog. Please bear with us
  4. I've noticed this as well. I've been talking to them through email the last few weeks and will let you know if I find anything out.
  5. Great tips, thanks! I'm still undecided about my location. Hadar or Gabi Club. I'm afraid that it might be too hot outside for an outdoor wedding. How was your experience with the weather on your wedding day? Was it uncomfortably hot? I'm getting married in May. Has any other brides have bad experience with an outdoor wedding being too hot?
  6. Congratulations!!! Happy to hear everything went as planned. I met with Aurora on site as well she is great. Any helpful tips you can give us brides? Also did you have a 3 hour reception? Did you feel the need to extend it for the extra money?
  7. I plan on bringing a bunch of things down as well. I emailed another florist today which was rated top on this website. I will let you know their response. Lets keep in touch. How many guest are you expecting and what package are you doing?
  8. @@Catfoxinabox @@MG1215 I'm getting married at the paradisus on May 16, 2015. I been communicating with Cecilia from Alquimia through email. Although she has been very nice and helpful, I'm a little frustrated with their pricing. I recently sent her pictures of a beautiful centerpiece which I know would be pricey but was very surprised. Ivory roses with White Holland hydrangeas and 4 phalaenopsis orchids $900 usd plus taxes without orchids $460 usd plus taxes each. Most high arrangements that are too my liking (Roses nothing fancy) cost $500+. I live in a pretty pricey city (NYC) and i'm positive that I can find cheaper flowers here. I too feel like I'm getting ripped off. My next step was to checkout what other flower vendors charge and maybe bringing this up to someone from the wedding team at resort. What are your thoughts? @@KK2013 what was your experience like. Were they flexible on pricing? If you don't mind me asking what did you budget for flowers?
  9. @@KK2013 thank you. I plan on doing the tailor made package and I'm trying to figure out any extra cost outside that package. I can only think of flowers, photography and DJ. Are there any major cost that I may be missing?
  10. @Catfoxinabox I'm also using Wendy Hicks from Wright Travel. Although I recently just started working with her she seems really knowledgeable and has always been available for any questions. @@KK2013 do you have a detailed wedding review on this website or blog that we could read?
  11. @@KimmyA I'm thinking about flying in my own dj from NY. I'm currently looking into prices for equipment rental. @akimmy when I signed the initial contract they told me I didn't have to make a decision on a package yet since it was based on the number of people. I would think you could change it.
  12. @@aferr15 I was also considering Dreams and made a decision not to look at it based on reviews (Trip Advisor) however I do think it is best to see it in person. My finance and I saw a handful of resorts including Paradisus. The Paradisus is beautiful and is a very classy/elegant resort. If I had to say 1 negative thing about it, it would be that the pool area is not overlooking the beach. The service is great, the food is excellent, the hotel decor is amazing. Good luck with your visit. Let us know how it goes when you get back. Is anyone considering using Blue Lens Caribe? Their work looks pretty good but I don't see any reviews out there.
  13. @zillakas did you hear back from the Paradisus regarding your wedding date? I am also waiting to hear back from them. What date did you request?
  14. Hi Ladies, I'm having my wedding at the Paradisus in Playa del caremen on May 16, 2015. For those who are in the process of planning a wedding there, are you having any issues with viewing what Alquimia Events has to offer? I don't see many photos on their website and when clicking on the portfolio page the pictures do not load. Any suggestions or tips? Thanks, Anna
  15. I will let you girls know how it goes. I won't be going for the rehearsal event because my fiancé couldn't get off from work. I do plan on meeting with a couple outside vendors while I'm there. Hopefully all goes well. I just saw 2 new destination wedding reviews on trip advisor. Reviews were pretty good except for the check in process for one of the weddings.
  16. @@KScheer I was also very excited to see a Long Island Bride as well. My fiancé and I haven't yet made a decision because we want to look at the resort in person and make sure it is the right place for us. We have visited Mexico several times and were spoiled by the luxurious adult only hotels but for our wedding we will be doing a family resort. We are either going to decide on Azul Five or the Paradisus resort in Playa del Carmen (which we have visited once before). I'm sure the Azul Five is a beautiful resort but I have to admit my fiancé and I are very picky therefore we feel it is best to see it in person. The reason why I reserved a date before hand is because we want to get married in May which I was told was a very busy wedding month for Mexico. The Paradisus is an amazing resort but there are 2 negatives that we feel may be resolved by getting married at the Azul Five. The Paradisus has an adult side and a family friendly side. The adults can use both sides of the resort however the kids cannot enter the adult side. My concern is that some families with children may feel left out if some of our guest are on the adult side. Azul Five seems to be very family friendly. Another negative at the Paradisus was the beach. There is no beach view from the pool. The beach is hidden behind trees/bushes. The beach is very short and there is not much room for activities. When looking at the beach pictures of Azul Five it looks large and spacious. The beach/pool setup looks great and I also read this on the reviews. As you can see ladies I'm being very picky lol. Don't get me wrong, I don't think its a bad thing that you have not yet seen the hotel in person I just think I would be less nervous if I get to see it for myself. It also makes a great excuse for a vacation @Ihills Congratulations! Wow your wedding is coming up soon. When do you fly in? I will be at Azul Five from April 28th - May 3rd. How was the wedding planning process and your experience so far? By the way I have also been checking out trip advisor and found some negative reviews which makes me nervous but I've noticed that the reviews are getting a little better. Some people that have visited Azul Five for their 2nd time mentioned that they have seen a big improvement at the resort. I would love to hear details about your wedding when you return. What vendors are you using for photography and DJ? Are you using vendors provided by resort? Talk to you soon Anna
  17. Hi Ladies, I reserved my wedding date at Azul Five for May 16th, 2015 (although I haven't yet made my final decision on the resort). Once I visit the resort this coming April 28th I will be making a final decision. I will share my experience and will give you some feedback once I return from my trip. KScheer, I see that you are a new yorker as well =) I'm from Queens and my fiancé is from Long Island. We soon will be moving to Massapequa, LI together. Lilgabri03, could you please also send me the email from the GM discussing the new stuff that is happening at Azul Five? Sounds like very exciting news! Have you ladies looked into photography or DJ yet? Hope to hear from you soon. Anna
