  1. THANK YOU!! I had caught that this weekend when I gave one to my inlaws. Luckily I had only done the test printing so far You'd think after all the proofreading about 6 people did on them that it would have been caught BEFORE that! Good eye
  2. Our David's Bridal (DB) colors are Sangria, Horizon & Oasis and I am having a HELL of a time finding bow ties that match. Mens Wearhouse (MW) apparently only RENTS out bow ties that match those colors, and not in solid colors (the sangria one is a paisley-like pattern and the other two are dots). Has anyone had any luck or experience with finding ties that match the colors they picked from DB? I would just rent them all, but this would involve picking them up right before we leave and returning them right after the wedding (we won't be back for about a week & a half). This wouldn't be an issue, but we're 2.5 hours away from a MW! Plus, my fiancee would really like to just buy them since bow ties are fairly inexpensive. The hardest one is going to be sangria - even at Mens Wearhouse, nothing matched (sigh). Here's what I've found so far - I'm not in love, but I think some of these *might* work? 3. I made my bridesmaid bouquets, and a local florist is arranging my bridal bouquet for $15 with the flowers I bought (real touch orchids/etc so NOT cheap but DEFINITELY cheaper than the $40 per orchid price quoted to me!) I listed my how-to in my planning thread, but here are some pictures - they ended up being less than $10 each, and that was with adding a $1.50 plus tax margarita charm:
  4. The design is so cute, where did you get the background from ? For my invitations it is actually a bunch of individual clip art I found online and put together. I made sure they were all transparent images since I printed on colored paper. I think on my planning thread I have a link to where I found most of it!
  5. I bought some embellishments (brads to put them together & a charm/string for decoration) but they still ended up being around 3/each with a stamp (34 invites), and price will go down if I need to make some more. If you get cardstock on sale/with a coupon at a Michaels or Joanns or something, same with envelopes, you can probably make them around $2 each or less, honestly. You don't need things like a corner rounder or anything - I'm just being really careful with a pair of scissors! I've put a breakdown of my costs on my thread here, if that helps http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/77321-marinah84s-planning-thread-31415-crown-paradise-club-cancun/
  6. @@helenk My FI is printing them on a color laserjet at work, but you can get them done at a Kinkos or similar type of printing place. I printed out 2 copies on my home computer so I could practice, and definitely takes a bit of ink! I saved mine as PDFs after I was done, and just made sure to uncheck "Fit to Page" on my printer options (it distorts the size - was worse when I was trying to print chapstick labels!). I'm planning on writing an instruction sheet to my FI on what goes on what paper, and what is doublesided. I would suggest doing the same thing at a Kinkos, and seeing if they'll print out 1 for you first so you can check it. They probably do things like this a lot I gave the 2 I printed to FI's parents & sister (who are staying with us this week) and they LOVE them. I'm so happy For the template, I downloaded it in Word to my computer and customized it. It was kind of a pain, not going to lie! I'm not sure I followed the instructions...but I figured it out Once I had it how I wanted it, I saved it as a PDF and test printed it in B&W (to make sure it looked good). My suggestion is to search google for transparent background images, unless you're planning on printing on white background pages. You can search to see how to removed a background, but that seemed complicated to me lol
  7. You have to send the cameras back right away or you get charged fees. We weren't going to be back quickly and it was something like 150 per camera (5 of them).
  8. I decided against RSVP cards, and have these for sale. I paid $11.99, so I'd like at least $10 + actual shipping: http://www.paperandmore.com/product/402/a1-crimson-red-metallic-square-flap-envelopes I can take a picture for you - they are in plastic, I didn't even take them out. The other paper I got that is also metallic is GORGEOUS (see shimmer example on the champagne). Very good weight on all the paper I got as well, very high quality! Thanks!
  9. UPDATE 7.18.14 INVITATIONS ARE FINALLY DONE!!! Just printing, but here's a breakdown of what I did/costs/etc. I didn't use any special supplies outside of scissors (like corner rounders or anything, I just cut): Paper: I got this from Paperandmore.com (Sidenote - if anyone wants to buy the A-1 RSVP envelopes from me, let me know as I'm not going to use them! $11.99 is what I paid, plus shipping) #10 Blueprint Blue Metallic Envelopes (50 Envelopes) -- (Quantity: 1) Aqua Lagoon Metallic Paper 81# Text -- (Quantity: 1) A-1 (4 Bar) Crimson Red Metallic 3 5/8 x 5 1/8 (50 Envelopes) -- (Quantity: 1) Champagne Metallic Paper 80# (100 Sheets) -- (Quantity: 1) $71.95 (with shipping) The paper has a beautiful subtle shimmer and good weight. I'm very pleased! I had printed out test on regular paper, and you can really feel/see the difference! Templates: I used the AyleeBits template (http://www.ayleebits.com/2006/06/10/diy-boarding-pass-save-the-date/) for the actual boarding pass. It was kind of a pain to work with, but I ended up figuring it out I used the jacket template with airplane from another member (I'm embarrassed to say I don't remember who...oops). It was a powerpoint file, but I just saved as a PDF to print and worked out great. I've attached the one I used (MH Invitation Jacket). For the letter included on the boarding pass jacket/sleeve, I borrowed ideas from several people on this board, and combined I've attached that template as well (MH Jacket Letter). Other supplies: I got the Silver Rayon Craft Ribbon on Amazon for about $6 (prime shipping). It seems to have gone up to $10.50...ouch. I got the Seahorse charms on ebay for $4 for 40 of them (I also got 50 starfish for $1.50 for other paper projects, so this was a little pricey...in comparison? lol) I got the brads on ebay for $7.22 for 34 of them - definitely not cheap, but I love the starfish! I got 12 starfish, 12 sand dollars & 10 seashells (he only had 24 of the starfish/sand dollar combo). Total Cost (with postage): $3.13 cents per invitation! Not bad, since I used higher end paper (without coupons, oops) and added the embellishments! It also includes the crimson RSVP envelopes I'm not using, without those, they would have been $2.77 each shipped. WOW. And now...the pictures! I just love the subtle shimmer of the paper, it's so pretty! MH Invitation Jacket.pptx MH Jacket Letter.docx
  10. I have finally finished my invitations! We are getting them printed now, and I wanted to share them First, I really wanted to do Passport invites, but they looked like a LOT of work plus seemed pretty pricey! So we went with boarding passes. 11. Apparently my robes came yesterday! The delivery person hid them behind our trash can (and it was rainy, so that makes me kinda mad because the box was damp!) They are AWESOME! Very high quality/soft, and she did a great job! I wish she had used a brighter blue (it's more light navy than royal, if that makes sense) and the sangria is too purple BUT I don't really care as my sister will like it anyway. Tip - do NOT pick sangria from david's bridal as a color unless you are ordering everything from DB. It's IMPOSSIBLE to match with DIY stuff -___- Etsy Store I ordered from - Celia was great! She's also running a special if you order over $100, you get a free personalized waffle cosmetic bag (you pick customization & colors). I'm sad I missed out on that!! But thought I'd pass it on Shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/LillysShopDotCom Back of my robe: Blue in package: Teal out of package! I tried mine on, and it's loose/comfy/very much like a light spa robe. I can't wait to give it to them!! Plus I think they'll make great photos
