  1. The only thing I'd be careful of with that is the wind in Cancun! I've been obsessively watching wedding videos at my resort (trying to find small details that people haven't posted, etc) and EVERY one of them is windy! I'd be worried with paint that it'd get on the dress! Maybe if you were doing an indoor ceremony? Or if you were ok with doing it as part of your reception, in out of the wind? It's a really fun and creative idea, but definitely has the potential to get messy!
  2. You can do either - I'd google and search on this stie for sand ceremony ideas, and just put together what you want! Some people have parents put the "foundation" sand on the bottom (a layer) and then they pour together to signify they are now one/cannot be separated. You could also do it alternating, if you still want it to signify togetherness but also want it to look pretty I'm debating what I want said during the ceremony, and who I want to ask to do it. I think we'll just alternate pouring so it's a pretty pattern
  3. Search retailmenot for coupon codes, shutterfly always has promotions (some better than others), so never pay full price!
  4. @@kcole123 Someone posted a link to this listing on Amazon - they are now $10 for 12 pairs (all black): http://www.amazon.com/Vintage-Black-Wayfarer-Style-Sunglasses/dp/B007KU4FMW/ref=pd_ybh_24 I got mind for $1.50 or so per pair, off of eBay. I wanted royal blue. If you want colors, I'd check your local dollar stores (I'm pretty sure that's where Kim got hers for her wedding party). Otherwise, search ebay for "fashion candy color sunglasses" and sort. Here's a similar listing to where I got mine: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Candy-color-Fashion-Classic-Women-Mens-Sunglasses-Retro-Vintage-Style-Shades-/231375446254?pt=US_Sunglasses&var=530637432074&hash=item35df0d20ee Mine came from China or Hong Kong, and are great!
  5. @@Wafflesmom I did! Gorgeous I started a Pinterest board for my photo ideas for him; I wish I could pin directly off of Facebook since he doesn't put most of those on his site! It looks like the sun will set around 630-640 in March this year (versus 530-540). What I've read online is that the sun sets fast in Cancun, about an hour. If I push my ceremony to 430, that would start group photos around 5, and couple photos around 545-630. Which theoretically would be the "best" time. I'm waiting for his recommendation, and then will see if I can move it if necessary (not even sure if the resort can, but it only pushes it out 30 min so hopefully they can!). What kind of lights are you doing? We'll have colored lights on the "dock" thing for the reception, but I didn't really think of anything else. I got my kids some glow sticks/bracelets and our centerpieces have blue leds. Now I'm wondering if I should do something like glow sticks for everyone? Daytime reception area Night time reception area (fireworks, but you can see how dark it is!)
  6. It's showing for March than sunset is now 640 pm, instead of 540 Samuel suggested pushing it 30 minutes (start 430 instead of 4), but I wonder if 5 pm is better? Reception would start 630 then, is that enough time for the colors? I emailed wedding coordinator yesterday about some things, but not this yet. I really want some sunset pictures, but not sure I want the reception all dark since it's on the water? Decisions!
  7. I'm not going to lie, I'm worried about this LOL! My dress is satin and weighs like 20 pounds! But it's gorgeous and it's the only time I'm going to ever wear it, and damn it, I'm going to tough it out!
  8. My kids are young (under 4), so they won't make it the whole reception. I've got a few older relatives who will stay in the room with them when they go to bed, and we want to make sure they are able to reach us immediately if needed (well, my mother in law, who has graciously said she's not drinking & will handle them for the night!) They have some walkie talkies, but I'm not sure the brand, and I'm not sure if there are any frequency restrictions/etc. Or if we should get a few more It's mostly for the kiddos
  9. @@pykx82 Congratulations! Best wishes to you on planning and for the wedding itself!
  10. Does anyone have any recommendations on brands to get? Or did you have any issues with certain frequencies, etc? Thanks!!
  11. I believe I had a choice, and chose Silver - they show up pretty well I think empty, but you could always do a dark gray/black? I'm really pleased with them - they will be easy to pack, and it's more than fine if they just take them home/not use on the resort. I'm considering getting a bubba personally to bring, ha! I'm putting them in the OOT bags, so up to them I have some extras (34 guests, 55ish cups), so if people lose them, I can replace a few
  12. Wow wow wow! I love these! I adore the reflection one of you, so creative! And we will have similar cakes, haha. Your kids are adorable, that's a great family photo. And the one of you looking at the camera over his shoulder is just perfect - so much emotion! Obviously I love all of them. Your photographer did an amazing job! I can't believe you got them already! Going to dig into the Facebook album now haha Ok - f/r you, I can't see your album lol
  13. Yep - I'd agree! I was in an Oct wedding in 2010 and it came in about 8 weeks!

  15. Update 1.25.2015 Another update today, even though I"m traveling! The Good: Makeup Artist Booked! After looking at a lot of reviews and pictures, I narrowed down to 3: Styling Trio, Sara Tamargo & The MakeUp Pros. Styling Trio was just too expensive, even for the non-Adrian people. Honestly, it was a toss up between The MakeUp Pros and Sara. Fernando was EXTREMELY responsive, and worked very hard to win my business. He has fantastic reviews, but just a lack of social media presence in terms of pictures. I'm sure he would have been wonderful, but he had a little heavier makeup hand than I envisioned for myself/bridal party, from the pictures he sent me. I had contacted Sara Tamargo (sister of Del Sol photographer I believe) after reviewing her website/facebook/this forum. I LOVED almost every bride's makeup that she did, and some of the hair...wow! She had a morning appointment the day of the wedding, but is able to come in the afternoon for us! She also was open to a little haggling, haha, so I was able to get a small discount to appease my frugal FI (who still thinks I need to do my own hair and makeup...men!) I would still recommend Fernando/TheMakeupPros, but chose to go with Sara due to her style. They were pretty much dead on the same in terms of prices, as well. Her site: http://www.saratamargo.com/ BDW Reviews: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/reviews/p/21612-sara-tamargo-makeup-artistry/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SaraTamargoMakeup The UGLY: SCAMMED. I ordered hangers from an Etsy shop (GettinWired) and it appears they closed up shop and scammed a TON of brides. So now I have a paypal dispute for the $62 I paid them. I'm pretty upset. I will probably order myself a hanger still, but will most likely not worry about getting anyone else one. Mostly due to time and I've got a lot of $ I'm already spending on them (more than I was going to, at least!). I don't think this post shows how deeply upset and pissed I am that I got scammed...I never even thought about it with Etsy! Wedding Timelines I'm not ready to print these yet, but I have them done outside of tweaking times (already had to tweak the time on he hair/makeup when I booked Sara, for instance!). I was going to get them printed on postcards, but probably won't, since I feel the timeline is pretty fluid and I don't want to have to correct them all, haha. We'll see the printing timeline of Vistaprint - maybe 2 weeks out I'll see if it's still feasible. I've attached the PDFs. One for everyone in the welcome bag (Guest), and then one for the girls/one for the guys. I think they're pretty cute! 16. 2013 I ordered my dress from David Bridal in January and it came in May. Like a week before the wedding, which was in another state. My 4 girls are all in different states and ordered from there in mid November, and they were told mid February. No sign of any dresses yet. Depends where you order but in recent years it's been taking a solid 4+ months. I was in several weddings in 2009/10 and David's bridal took 2 to 3. I was just talking about this yesterday with my MAIL because it's a total racket. They don't have someone hand making them, and there's only so many dresses and styles. I strongly feel it's like the price premium you pay for anything wedding or baby! *MIL
  17. Update: 01.24.2015 Wedding Rings FINALLY FI figured out his wedding band! He chose a tungsten carbide ring, with meteorite inlay. It wasn't nerdy enough that we're getting married on Pi Day or anything, right? It's gorgeous - found it on eBay, and it's wonderful quality. He had to get the tungsten carbide due to working in an industrial setting. Cool Box Ring My thumb lol Our set LOVE this shot - I almost don't need the photographer to do it on our wedding day, I love it so much! He's also picked out the shoes, so I think he *might* be done...yay! Flower Girl Tutu Ok, I have to say, I'm SO glad I put this project back on my plate. It's SO stinking cute. And they make fabric adhesive, so I didn't even have to break out my 15+ years out of use sewing skills I took an old pair of shorts that were the right color (decided to go with pink), and just split the crotch. This created the strapless top and gave her some layering between the scratchy tulle and her skin. I then used adhesive velcro - said not for fabric, but i figure it's only for the short term right? seems to stick pretty well to me! Glue drying on the carebear (with the badonkadonk, it was hard to get the dress on now with the flowers stiff from being glued!) dress hanging up! With straps (and her smartbutt face, haha) strapless - i think it'll stay up ok without the straps, but she can choose day of if she wants them or not. i like it both ways shoes! i made her some glittered ones, but they were stiff and hurt her heels, so she refuses to wear them. All she does is twirl and ask for her "crown" - what a princess More updates soon - I can taste the finish line!!! haha
