    I only went with a Travel Agent because I was kind of lazy. I contacted my 1st choice hotel and they told me to do room blocks I'd need a travel agent anyway. The idea of outsourcing something was VERY appealing!! (We ended up deciding on our 2nd choice anyway.) It seems like there are lots of brides on here who do the room block themselves, or don't have a room block at all. You are too sweet to not be a "copy cat". I doubt your friend would have minded!! ) Isn't immitation the sincerest form of flattery?

    Who invites their friends to a wedding they are a guest at??? People are so weird. Is it possible she just invited friends along for the vacation and they aren't actually coming to your wedding events?

    @@magda26 Your dress is beautiful!! I don't know when your wedding is, but if I was you, I'd consider "releasing" BM1 from her duties! It sounds like she is just raining on your parade and making you feel badly. Who needs that! I'm so sorry you are having to go through this. Best of luck with your big day! As everyone else has said, once you arrive at your resort, I'm sure you won't care in the least!! *hugs*

    I'm glad I found this thread. I haen't gotten any pushback yet from guests, but I am totally going with "we totally understand if you can't come" if anyone starts complaining.

    Thanks @@strwbsprkl!! I have never been to Punta Cana. But have known friends who have gone and I've heard great things about itt. I'm dealing with a travel agent and we started contacting the resort for contract in early Dec (13 months in advance). Not going to lie, it's been about two weeks and we (okay, the travel agent) is having to DRAG the room block out of them. Hoping to finalize today. Ugh, it's so stressful, I just want the contract stuff DONE so I can stop worrying about it and send the save-the-dates out.

    Any 2014 or 2015 Excellence Punta Cana brides out there? I'm in the process of booking 1/12/15 and wondering if there are any other brides out there planning with me. I'd especially love it if past brides could come back and tell us how their wedding/reception/honeymoon/DR trip was.

    Love this post. My guest list is fluxuating between 89 - 93 and I really do not know how many people to expect. TA thinks we should hold 20 rooms, and it's freaking me out! (Cuz I'm putting the initial deposits down to hold the rooms)
