Has anyone done a "poloriod" guestbook at their DW? I'm wondering if it will be too much work to haul everything there and back. Ugh, decisions.

I'm going with the beach. BUT, I have always dreamed of getting marired on a tropical beach barefoot / in flip flops. BUT, it's your wedding and do whatever you want!! If you wanna wear those awesome shoes, do it!

I think I'm just going to cheap out and give them a silver picture frame and promise of a print. I can do that for not much $$. I think I would feel like too much of a jerk to give the parents nothing (ugh, guilt!!)

Wondering if newer brides can post their experiences with portable speaker doc's. I highly doubt I am going to spring for a DJ or the resorts stuff... If I'm going to spend the money, I'd rather get something I can keep. Any brides have suggestions for portable speakers?

Do people ever plan... nothing? I am a cheapskate and wondering if I can get away with an ipod/speaker for our first dance and then just hang out with our guests and have fun. After the alloted "reception" ends, WE go find some fun. I've heard Monday nights is Dominican Republic night at our Resort (Excellence Punta Cana) and I'm hoping we can just crash that arty and I can save a ton of money. Thoughts???

I say yes to a registry. People at the AHR may still want to get you a gift. And there's all the little things too... showers, etc. My FI and I registered at Target and Bed, Bath & Beyond.

I started planning 14 months out. It took me 2 months (tho this was over Nov and Dec holidays) to confirm the room block and the wedding date / package. Once we were like 75% done, I sent my STD's. I finally got confirmation back from the hotel yesterday on our wedding date and time, so with the help of my travel agent, I emailed my guests to start booking their rooms. So essentially, they have a year's advance notice, but need to have their final payments in 90 days in advance.

Nice, we have two other brides at the Excellence. I'm happy to have someone else to compare notes with! We just got our official wedding confirmation letter this week. (OMG, it took forever... over a month.) @@bethb731 - I'm not sure if this helps, but I booked our room block in advance of getting the confirmation letter of our wedding date/package. The photo pacakges for Beach Weddings Studio are expensive, so I am really considering just bringing someone from offsite. HCD and Caribbean Emotions gave me excellent pricing. So good, I could bring them in, pay the extra fees and get a lot more for the $$. My travel agent is also looking into the possibility of flying someone in, putting them up for 3 nights at the hotel in lieu of them charging for pictures. (Which would ROCK!) I got a list of the bouquets, centerpieces, gazebo decorations, cakes and pricing that I'll be happy to send over to you if you want.

The pricing for Beach Weddings Studio is EXPENSIVE!! 3 hours with 1 photographer is $1k. I'm thinking that it might be cheaper to just pay the $500 and bring someone in. I am really bummed that Photo Souvenir is no longer the in house studio!

At the Excellence, I confirmed my package with the date. Tho it took like a month to get the "official" confirmation letter back in writing.
