  1. I sent STD's for our DW and an email "invitiation" with information about how to book their rooms at the resort. This is acting as their RSVP. People who book a room, I know will be attending. I have no idea if I'll regret this choice! We're doing an AHR, but I really don't care about it. Honestly, it's for my FI, who feels badly about anyone who can't go to the DR. We're having it at my FMIL's house and I think I'm going to go classy and send evites.
  2. This thread is really old, but I'm going to post anyway... So three years later, I'm wondering if the general trend of DW has stayed the same. I sent a postcard STD a year in advance. I am using a travel agent / wedding coordinator and booked a rom block at the resort. I'm asking my guests to book their rooms through the TA. I sent an email "invitation" a couple of weeks after the STD with the resort info and booking instructions. The TA sent a follow up email the next day. 1st deposits are due in April. Why in the heck do I need formal invitations??? I just feel like they are super unnecessary. I will know who's coming based off whom ever books their room. My dad (who I am not close to) indicated we should send formal invites. But he couldn't tell me why... etiquette reasons, I guess. To me they seem like a giant waste of time, paper and $$. What is everyone else's thoughts??? Am I making a mistake?
  3. I went with WeddingWire. Stuck with the free acount and it's totally getting the job done.
  4. Per earlier in the thread, a forum host will have to manually change your status and this could take a few days.
  5. I'm probably going the DB route. Unless I can find super cute dreses for cheap elese where. I only have 2 ladies in my bridal party.
  6. @tbrow813 I'm getting married at the EPC 1/12/15 and my experience has been similar to Jennelle's. I have a TA who booked the room block and wedding date, and then I got sent sheets for bouquets, centerpieces, photography, etc. I've emailed Emy Rose a few times and she has gotten back to me. DJ is $1200 for 3 hours, outside vendor fee for photographer is $500 but does not include dinner (so I think I need to include him in my reception headcount). It's stressful not having all the information but I think this is normal. I've poured over all the old threads and it sounds like you get your email 2 months in advance and make your selections. Then the day after you arrive on the resort you meet the WC in person and finalize everything. I guess that's the beauty (and curse!) of a DW. Not much planning (which IS kind of stressful. LOL). Hang in there!!
  7. Holyy smokes! Those pictures are stunning!
  8. @JennelleRM Do you still need the photographer pricing I got for HDC and Caribbean Emotions? I ended up going with PhotoPhil though. He is not cheap, but his pictures are amazing. And with all day coverage and the outside vendor fee, it's about the same as I'd pay for the resort photographer. So I'm happy with my decision. PhotoPhil acts as a day of coordinator as well, so that's a relief. So far he has been SUPER helpful and very, very prompt in replying to my emails. I mailed a depsit check TODAY! WOOT! I also ended up booking pastor Rick York at PhotoPhil's suggestion. He said the resorts wedding ceremony is in Spanish and then yoru wedding coordinator translates in English. Erm, no thanks. Pastor York's fee's for 2015 were $400 but luckily Emy Rose said there is no day pass, or outside vendor fee for him.
  9. This thread is amazing! I spent the last 24 hours reading all 83 pages. I'd love it if newer brides would come back to post!!
  10. I'm so sorry. That sounds awful and really stressful. But like you said, perhaps it's better you're realizing this now (rather than her causing drama and trouble at your wedding.) Your wedding day is going to be beautiful, and you won't even remember that she isn't there!
  11. Go with someone who specializes in the DR. I'm kicking myself for booking my travel agent. Unfortunately, I hadn't found BDW yet.
  12. I don't think you need to do anything specific. It's symbolic, after all!
  13. Thanks past brides for giving us a "baseline". My budget is $10k for 40 people, and I already feel like it's tight. Photography alone is 20%. *sigh*
  14. woo, a few of you have hit 150 since you initially posted. Too bad I'm not there yet!!
  15. @AR-DreamWedding if you're still around, can you email me your spreadsheet, pleaes? kellis_baby at hotmail dot com. Thank you!
  16. I think I'm going to steal your wordding! I have no idea what to put on my program. Yours looks beautiful... love the fan and the bubbles.
  17. Anyone NOT sending invites? I'm using a travel agent and room block... i feel like the invites are a waste of money. I sent an email "invitation". But I don't want our guests to feel like it's not a real invitation. Ugh, not sure what to do.
