  2. We invited 106 but only have 25 attending. It's sad but what can you do? We knew a lot wouldn't be able to make it but you always hope that with a years notice people can get it together. I actually had a good friend and bridesmaid drop out of everything, which was a huge disappointment. She is getting married this summer and dealing with immigration issues, but still. It's tough. Although three co-workers (one previous, 2 current) are coming, which is so surprising. I always try to remember that once the day arrives, I'll be so happy and thankful to everyone who was able to make it. That's what brides always come back and say; you never think about who didn't come! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I put it on our website "we secured a discounted group rate, please book with our travel agent" on our website and then sent out several emails. We asked our guests for their RSVP/room deposits before the resorts even opened the rooms up, so really to make the RSVP date, everyone HAD to use the TA. We'll see what happens as the date draws closer though. I'm curious if we'll get any late additions... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I'm sorry your sister is kinda dropping the ball. At least your mom has your back. I don't think you sound Beidezilla-y at all. Those parties are "milestones" and part of the wedding experience. Enjoy them!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Indecisive

Yay! Congrats on deciding on a DW! I have always wanted to elope. FI wanted a wedding. So we compromised on a DW. We picked Punta Cana because nobody had ever been there (we're giving our guests an experience) and the pricing was great. I love that we're having four days of festivities with our loved ones. I can't wait!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Wow!! Those are beautiful. I bet your guests loved them! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. @AllieH I am for sure coming back to do a planning thread on the site, so stay tuned for all your idea's to be reborn in red, black and white! hehe. Or, if you are really bored, I do have a wedding planning blog I keep: www.takeanapa.wordpress.com The ideas there are pretty scattered and random though. (or I post as I finish parts of projects, but not necessarily the entire thing).
  8. @kcole123 yup, I'm going to get a crystal sash / belt. Just trying to find the RIGHT one on Etsy. I didn't really like the DB sash options. It is SO HARD for me to visualize what the finished product will look like. I don't want to buy something online only to not like it in person. *sigh*
  9. @kcole123 I found the idea of buying/trying on dresses so overwhelming that I was probably a little quick to make a decision. PLUS, I was visiting my mom in another state. I had kind of hoped that if I found a dress with her, she'd buy it for me. (AND SHE DID!) So time was of the essence. But I love, love, love my dress. Unfortunately, the store didn't have my absolute favorite dress in stock (it was a Melissa Sweet). LUCKILY, I had also picked a similar style in my website account favorites that I tried on (last) and LOVED. It really is crazy similar to the Melissa Sweet dress, but with a tad less embellishment. (Tho, it was also $150 cheaper AND on sale!) I teared up and had the whole "bridal" moment. It was awesome. (Especially since I'm not really that much of a girly girl and really worried that I wouldn't have the dress moment.)
  10. @AllieH I really hope you believe that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery... I love the EFF out of your wedding and am "borrowing" so many of your ideas!! I bought the lanterns and parasols from Luna bazzar, drink cup stickers from Davet Designs (Although my colors are red, black and white).AND commissioned my cake topper from mudcards. TY, TY for all your hard work, planning and sharing. I also really love and appreciate that you're still so active on the boards! It makes it so nice to follow up and ask questions from someone "on the other side". I can only hope my wedding is 1/2 the success yours was!
  11. I think I'm going fake. But I so agree with @jackielemman I am worried it won't look the same in person as the Etsy picture (which, of course, always look fabulous).
  12. @kcole123 I'm so glad going alone is okay. Ugh, I am so indecisive, I needed my mom there. hehe. Although, I made a decision pretty quickly. I only went to 1 store and tried on six dresses before finding "the one".
  13. I agree with trbutler. I just didn't have the dollars to spend on a better quality bag, so I went with the Gemline 1100 (but I got it from them from The Deal Rack). I paid $4.21 per bag but got FREE shipping. Sassy Apparel had crazy expensive shipping, so I went with the Deal Rack. 18 bags was $75.78 total. I'm STOCKED. The bags came the VERY next day and I am totally impressed with the quality.
  14. I was just at David's Bridal last week and they actually provided the strapless bra and slip/crinoline for me! I was so happy too, as I was traveling (visiting my mom) and don't even own a strapless bra that fits. It was such a relief to use their stuff and not worry about it. (Although, YOU KNOW they tried to sell it to me as well.)
  15. I am SO glad that you found "your" dress! It looks really great on you too!
  16. I have been eyeballing necklace/earring sets from startrim on Etsy. She has some really pretty, but still affordable sets. I haven't pulled the trigger yet though. https://www.etsy.com/shop/startrim?section_id=14653938&ref=shopsection_leftnav_6
  17. @@forevertogether You look STUNNING in your dress. Just as good, if not better, than the model!!
  18. Is there anyway you can "bring" a family member via FaceTime or Skype??? My FI and I are long distance and we talk on FaceTime every day. It's not perfect, but it's better than nothing...???
  19. I just bought my dress last week!!!! YAY!! Here's the dress on me: And the skinny model in the dress: Ugh, waiting for the dress to arrive is already torture!
  20. I ended up going with the "lower" end Gemline Zippered Tote. They were $3.24 per bag and I am REALLY impressed with the quality. I got 18 bags for $75.78. Shipping was SO FAST and I got the bags the next day. They are a good size, and really good quality for the price. I'm SO HAPPY to check this off the list! http://www.thedealrack.com/p-3297-gemline-select-zippered-tote-bag-1100.aspx
  21. I'm about 1/2 way through cutting all my petals out, but this is a great option! Please come back and post your finished programs!
  22. Are you having guests? A reception after the ceremony was included in our wedding package, so we're going that route. I'll have about 30 guests, so I am pretty sure that I am going to spring for the private reception.
