Hello everyone! I am brand new to this site and have selected NOW Jade for our July 2014 wedding! This thread is full of amazing advice, so I thought I would leave a question for you all. We are in the process of booking a Cancun area photographer who requires a 50% deposit to secure the date. I'm ready to pay it, but my fiancé and family are a little skeptical about placing such a large deposit because they don't want us to get "scammed" (for lack of a better word). I have researched the photographer, read reviews, and absolutely love the photographer and price. Is the large deposit common for photographers in this area? What are your opinions and experiences with this?

I'm all gung-ho to make the payment because I REALLY like this photographer, but my fiancé and family members are a little hesitant as they don't want us to get "ripped off" (for a lack of a better word). What are your experiences/opinions on this?
