  1. Ours is Barry Manilow's 'the best of me". totally cheesy and never thought I'd be dancing to a Barry Manilow song, but the lyrics fit us perfectly! so great!!!! I wish I had to guts to do something like that
  2. Smart move! you'll have all your projects done with all the templates on here and be stress free way before your wedding day!
  3. Yay another jamaica bride! Theres lots of us on here and I think we are all spread out over 2014
  4. me either! Where are you getting hitched at? I haven't found any reviews for my resort. I will def post a review when I get back just so other people have the opportunity to see what its like. I find myself jealous of all the other posters who kind of know what to expect. For all you other ladies, keep posting. I'm getting close to 100 and that has been weeks in the making.
  5. I think that the different perception of these types of registries are generational. The older generation has been negative towards it while the younger generation has welcomed it. I've had lots of friends who did a honeymoon registry or when asked said they'd like money for their honeymoon, and we complied. I'd rather give them something practical so they can have extra memories on their honeymoon than a bowl or linens.
  6. I believe that etiquette says you must invite anyone to the wedding who was invited to the bridal shower. Otherwise is appears gift grabby. Are you throwing your own bridal shower?
  7. No bridal party here either. Instead of spending money on dresses etc, i just want them to come to the wedding!
  8. I would also suggest, buy things slowly over time. Makes the budget feel like its going farther. Also, whatever you don't know how to do...google or you tube it! there are so many great tutorials online. I've found so many great ideas and how-tos on this website too!
  9. yes we actually looked into a beach bbq party and it was going to cost approximately $3k for a 4 hour reception with a dj. Which is unfortunately out of our budget. We are going to set up a welcome meet up at the hotel lobby bar on the first night, we are hosting a sunset catamaran cruise the next night (1.5 hour cruise with alcohol) and we can have a semi-private dinner at the buffet restaurant on the resort after our reception. We also just found out that our resort typically hosts a beach bonfire on Monday nights (we're marrying on a monday) so we can go to this after the dinner. Do you think this is enough?
  10. My dress consultant told me that as long as I didn't jump into any chlorinated pools, my dress would be fine. Not super worried about it because I know it will get dirty from the sand anyways. Super excited to do a TTD!
  11. Maracas are good favors! I think OOT bags are a recent thing, I just liked it when I got them at other weddings so that is why I'm doing them
  12. which one seemed to be the least expensive? I'm trying to keep costs down since I am finding so many things I want to put in their OOT bags (thanks to these boards...lol)
  13. Also, tell your guests now that you are considering a destination wedding. That way they can start to save!
  14. I think a big consideration is whether you want a legal or symbolic wedding at your destination. Since my fiance and I actually wanted to get legally married in front of our friends & family on a tropical beach, we had to find somewhere where it was easy to do so. We found St. Lucia and Jamaica to be the easiest places to legally get married (no translation of documents or blood tests). Since Jamaica was the most cost effective for everyone to attend, we chose Jamaica. Oh and I highly recommend a travel agent! Mine has helped a lot and took some stress off me
  15. Great job. you thought of everything!
